Chalon-sur-Saône (French pronunciation: [ʃalɔ̃ syʁ son] , literally Chalon on Saône) is a city in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France. It is a sub-prefecture of the department. It is the largest city in the department; however, the department capital is the smaller city of Mâcon.
