Sundlaugin (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈsʏntˌlœijɪn], the swimming pool) is a recording studio located near Álafoss in the town of Mosfellsbær in Iceland known for being the recording and rehearsal location of post-rock band Sigur Rós. The location was originally a swimming pool built in the 1930s which had been abandoned when Sigur Rós purchased it in 1999 and converted it and adjacent buildings into a studio.The band originally intended to record their third album, entitled ( ), in an abandoned NATO tracking base in the northernmost mountain in Iceland, but after inspection decided it was too impractical. Shortly after they found the abandoned pool lot in a rural neighborhood in Mosfellsbær. They bought the lot and transformed it into a studio. Úlfarsfell (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈulvar̥sˌfɛtl̥]) is a mountain in the municipality of Mosfellsbær in the Reykjavík metropolitan area. It is 296 meters high. The mountain slopes have been subject to extensive forestry.Úlfarsfell is mentioned in the written work Hítardalsbók from 1367 and in the land registry from 1704 by Árni Magnússon and Páll Vídalín. The name of the mountain, and the nearby river Úlfarsá, likely comes from a settler named Úlfar, which was born by at least four settlers according to Landnáma, the book of settlers.

Mosfellsbær (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈmɔːsˌfɛlsˌpaiːr̥], colloquially Mosó) is a town in south-west Iceland, 12 kilometres (7 miles) east of the country's capital, Reykjavík. The town of Mosfellsbær is a 15-minute drive from midtown Reykjavík. The district includes the Leiruvogur cove, which forms part of Kollafjörður fjord. Three rivers empty into the cove: Leirvogsá, Kaldakvísl and Varmá. Mosfellsbær provides numerous opportunities for outdoor and leisure activities. There has been a systematic development of outdoor recreational areas for residents, their guests and tourists. Often called "the green town", the town enjoys thermal activity and a number of greenhouses have been built there. Since 1933 it has supplied the capital area with natural hot water for house heating, swimming pools, and other uses. The mountainous area around the town is visited for hiking, skiing, hunting and fishing for trout and char in the small lakes.

Hafravatn (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈhavraˌvahtn̥]) is a small lake on the eastern outskirts of Reykjavík, Iceland. Located at 76 m above sea level, it has an area of 1.08 km2 (0.42 sq mi) with a greatest depth of 28 m (92 ft). The Seljadalsá River flows into it from the east and its discharge is Úlfarsá (into Korpúlfsstaðaá, also known as Ulfarsfellsa). A small village lies on the northern bank of the lake and a paragliding take-off point on its eastern side. The smaller lake of Langavatn lies to its southwest.

Reynisvatn is a lake on the eastern side of Reykjavík, east of Grafarholt og Úlfarsárdalur. The lake is a popular fishing spot, with rainbow trout being released.

The Reykjavik Golf Club is a golf club located 10 km east of Reykjavik, Iceland. The club was established in 1934 and is the oldest and largest golf club in Iceland. It has hosted many European and Scandinavian tournaments including major events such as the European Youth and European Seniors Tour Championships. It was originally named Golf Club Iceland since it was the only golf club in Iceland at the time. However, as other clubs opened such as Akureyri Golf Club in 1935 and Westman Islands Golf Club in 1938, the name was changed to Reykjavik Golf Club.The club consists of two 18-hole courses - one at Grafarholt and the other at Korpfulsstadir on the southern outskirts of Reykjavik.

Úlfarsfell (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈulvar̥sˌfɛtl̥]) or Grafarholt og Úlfarsárdalur [ˈkraːvarˌhɔl̥t ɔɣ ˈulvar̥sˌaurˌtaːlʏr̥], is a district of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, and forms part of the eastern suburbs.

Grafarvogur (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈkraːvarˌvɔːɣʏr̥]) is among the largest residential districts of Reykjavík, Iceland. It is a relatively new neighbourhood, major construction began in the late 1980s and continued well into the 1990s.

Hádegismóar Temple is a planned Buddhist temple, scheduled to be built in Reykjavík, Iceland. It will be funded by foreign sponsors and eventually house the Buddhist Association of Iceland, the country's largest Buddhist group. The temple will be located by Lake Rauðavatn in suburban Reykjavík and will consist of a stupa and two other structures. When completed, it will be the northernmost Buddhist temple in the world, only about 4 kilometres further north than its counterpart in Fredrika, Sweden.

The Rauðhólar (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈrœiðˌhouːlar̥]) are remnants of a cluster of rootless cones in Elliðaárhraun [ˈɛtlɪːðaˌaur̥ˌr̥œiːn] lava fields on the south-eastern outskirts of Reykjavík, Iceland next to the South Iceland part of Hringvegur, the Suðurlandsvegur.
