WUTV

WNED-TV (channel 17) is a PBS member television station in Buffalo, New York, United States. It is owned by the Western New York Public Broadcasting Association (doing business as Buffalo Toronto Public Media) alongside NPR member WBFO (88.7 FM) and classical music radio station WNED-FM (94.5). The three stations share studios in Horizons Plaza at 140 Lower Terrace in downtown Buffalo; WNED-TV's transmitter is located in Grand Island, New York. More than half of WNED-TV's viewership is from Southern Ontario, Canada, where the main channel is included in cable and satellite packages by television service providers.

Grand Island Senior High School is a public high school located at 1100 Ransom Road in Grand Island, New York, serving over 1,000 students in grades 9–12. The school follows the New York State Regents Board curriculum. Advanced Placement classes are offered in 16 subjects including Biology, Calculus, Physics C: Mechanics and Electricity/Magnetism, and US History. Many students participate in a BOCES program which allows them to experience many occupations before pursuing them and gaining useful training and certifications. Students' averages are calculated using a percentage based scale. The school is under the jurisdiction of the Grand Island Central School District.

Grand Island is an island town in Erie County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town's population was 21,389 representing an increase of 5.00% from the 2010 census figure. The town's name is derived from the French name La Grande Île; Grand Island is the largest island in the Niagara River and the third largest in New York state. The phrase La Grande Île appears on the town seal. Grand Island has been home to the Attawandaron Nation and an acquisition of both French and English colonial pursuits. In 1945, Grand Island was part of a plan to make a new World Peace Capital on the international border between Southern Ontario, Canada, and Western New York. The plan proposed placing the United Nations headquarters on adjacent Navy Island (Ontario), which was considered an ideal location because it lay on the boundary between two peaceful countries. An artist's rendering of the World Peace Capital showed the property with bridges spanning both countries (between Grand Island in the United States and the Canadian mainland). The proposal was turned down in favor of the current U.N. headquarters in New York City. The town of Grand Island is in the northwestern corner of Erie County, and on the Canada–US border, although there is no river crossing to Canada. It is northwest of Buffalo, south of Niagara Falls, and is traversed by Interstate 190 and New York State Route 324.

Grandyle Village is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Grand Island in Erie County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 4,629.Grandyle Village is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area.

Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World is an 85 acres (34 ha) amusement park in Grand Island, New York. It features a theme park, water park, and is adjacent to a KOA campground. The park is owned by STORE Capital and operated by IB Parks & Entertainment.

Sandy Beach is a hamlet in the town of Grand Island in Erie County, New York, United States. It is located to the east of Buckhorn Island State Park. Sandy Beach is a community of homes built in the late 1940s. It is also home to the Sandy Beach Yacht Club and the Beach House Restaurant.

Tonawanda Creek is a small tributary of the Niagara River in Western New York, United States. After rising in Wyoming County, the stream flows through Genesee County before forming part of the boundary between Erie County and Niagara County.

US Post Office-Tonawanda is a historic post office building located at Tonawanda in Erie County, New York, United States. It was designed and built 1939–1940, and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department under Louis A. Simon. The building is in the Colonial Revival style and features a central pavilion crowned by a cupola and flanked by end pavilions with gable roofs. The interior once featured a mural by Symeon Shimin, but it was removed and has disappeared. An addition to the north was added in 1964.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Kibler High School is a historic high school building located at the city of Tonawanda in Erie County, New York. It was designed by the Buffalo architectural firm of Edward B. Green, & Sons and constructed in 1925 in the Classical Revival style. The exterior features a rusticated ground floor, central entrance pavilion with pilasters and pediment, an elaborately decorated cupola, and red tile hip roofs. The school was named for the president of the Tonawanda Board of Education in 1924, William J. Kibler. The building functioned as a school until 1983. The building was renovated as senior housing in the mid-2000s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The 102nd Street chemical landfill, is a former chemical landfill located on the Niagara River in Niagara Falls, New York. It is almost immediately adjacent to the infamous Love Canal chemical landfill, which are split from each other by the LaSalle Expressway and Frontier Avenue. Hooker Chemical Company, a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum, and Olin Chemical, who were the original owners of the site, were ordered to clean up the site and pay $16,500,000 by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. It is a designated Superfund site, and is closed to the public.

Cayuga Island is an island in Niagara County, New York, United States. The Niagara River flows along the south side of the island, and a stream, Little River (also called "Little Niagara River"), forms a channel along the north side.It is part of the LaSalle area of Niagara Falls, New York. It consists of middle-class housing and a city park. The island is believed to be the place where 17th-century French explorer Rene-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle built his barque called Le Griffon in 1679.
