Silberhornstraße is an U-Bahn station in Munich on the U2 and U7. It is located in upper Giesing. The station is also served by routes and of the Munich tramway.

Nockherberg is the name of a small terrace on the slope of the eastern bank of the Isar in Munich, situated in the urban district of Au. An annual beer festival rich in tradition takes place there in the Paulaner Brewery - the Salvator-Ausschank auf dem Nockherberg The name of the raised terrace is often used synonymously for this festival or its opening event, the tapping of the first barrel of a strong, seasonal beer (Starkbieranstich).

Au is a district in the south eastern plain tract of the German city of Munich in Bavaria. Au extends from the Deutsches Museum in the north and along the Isar up to Wittelsbacherbrücke (Wittelsbacher Bridge) in the south. In the centre of the area the Auer Dult takes place three times a year on the Mariahilfplatz, which is the largest annual market in Munich. Bordering boroughs of the city are Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt and Altstadt-Lehel on the western side of the Isar, Untergiesing-Harlaching in the south and Giesing in the south-east. The Haidhausen district lies to the east and along with Au, forms the Au-Haidhausen borough of the city. Au was first documented on 12 December 1340 as "Awe ze Gysingen", with Awe meaning "Land on water". In 1808 Au was made a town as Vorstadt Au ("Suburb of Au"). In 1818, along with Untergiesing (what the settlement at Nockherberg had been referred to as), Au formed its own urban municipality. On 1 October 1854 the district was incorporated into Munich. Hans-Georg Schwarzenbeck, a 1974 World Cup champion has operated a stationery shop in Au for over 20 years. The operatic soprano Clara Vespermann (1799–1827) was born in Hau.

The Nockherstraße is a road located in the south of Au-Haidhausen, the 5th district of Munich, Germany. The former suburb of Au is located in the original flooding area of the Isar. The 500-meter-long road runs between the end of the Ohlmüllerstraße (beginning of the street Am Nockherberg) and the Kolumbusplatz at the foot of the Isar river terrace. About 400 people live in Nockherstraße.

Paulaner is a German brewery, established in 1634 in Munich by the Minim friars of the Neudeck ob der Au cloister. The mendicant order and the brewery are named after Francis of Paola, the founder of the order. Paulaner is one of the six breweries who provide beer for Oktoberfest. Paulaner ranks number six among Germany's best-selling beers.

The Ostfriedhof (Eastern Cemetery) in Munich, situated in the district of Obergiesing, was established in 1821 and is still in use. It contains an area of more than 30 hectares and approximately 34,700 burial plots. The buildings were constructed between 1894 and 1900 to plans by Hans Grässel. In 1929 a crematorium was opened. The bodies of thousands of opponents of the National Socialist régime were cremated here in the years between 1933 and 1945, and their ashes mostly disposed of without memorial. These included people executed in Stadelheim Prison, victims of the concentration camps Dachau, Birkenau and Auschwitz, and of the Aktion T4 campaign. In 1946 the bodies of several of those condemned to death at the Nuremberg War Crimes trials including Hermann Göring were cremated here, and the ashes scattered.

The Auer Dult is a traditional annual market in Munich, Germany, taking place three times per year on the Mariahilfplatz in the Munich district of Au. The first fair of the year, the so-called Maidult (May fair) is held in the first weekend of the month. The Jakobidult takes place in July or early August (beginning on the Saturday after the feast day of St. James) and the Kirchweihdult occurs in the week after Kermesse. Each one lasts nine days.

The Mariahilfplatz is a town square on the right bank of the River Isar in the district of Au in Munich, Germany. Centrally located in the suburb of Au, the Mariahilfplatz is a well visited and active place. One of the largest fairs in Munich, the Auer Dult, occurs here three times per year. The square is dominated by the neo-gothic Mariahilfkirche (Mariahilf Church) which is situated right in the centre. East of the square behind the monastery of the School Sisters of Notre Dame is the Auer Mühlbach (Millstream of Au), one of the remaining brooks in Munich. Also at the Mariahilfplatz are the Landratsamt München (Administrative office of the Landkreis München) with the public health office, the Maria-Hilf School, Police Department 21, REFUGIO Munich (a consultation and treatment centre for refugees and torture victims) and Neudeck, a prison for women and young people.

Maria-Theresia-Gymnasium is one of Munich's oldest schools. It is situated on Regerplatz in the Munich district Au. Founded in 1899 as a Kreisrealschule, it became a Kreisoberrealschule in 1940 and a state-run Gymnasium in 1965. It currently holds around 900 students mainly in a natural scientific-mathematical, but as of late also a modern language branch. In 1998, a gifted student class was started. In a partnership with Ludwig Maximilian University gifted students receive so-called „Enrichment“ classes, during which they can carry out experiments themselves at the biology and physics departments under supervision by known professors.The school is host to student exchanges with France, Sweden and Poland. A new building with cafeteria and several new specialist rooms was built in 2008, made necessary by the adoption of the 8-year Gymnasium in many German states.
