Methodist Episcopal Church (Emmett, Idaho)

The First Baptist Church of Emmett, at the northeast corner of 1st St. and Hayes Ave. in Emmett, Idaho, was built in 1915. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The church faces south onto 1st St. It has "Italianesque round arches and an accompanying Renaissance flavor" and was designed by architects Nisbet & Paradice. The nomination document describes its exterior as "imposing", and goes on: The interior, with its belled walls, curving pews and excellent stained glass, is one of the finest—perhaps the finest at this scale—and most original in Idaho. The church is notable for its status as the only commission so far as is presently known of a Boise architectural office then of some importance Nisbet and Paradice. This elaborate local church was begun during a prosperous period in 1909, and not dedicated until 1915 or completely finished until still later. It kept its congregation in financial straits until 1924, but it was finished nonetheless. It is one of six churches within a two block area of Emmett, established there from 1906 to 1934, which were together studied proposed for listing on the National Register. The six are: Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart (Emmett, Idaho), Emmett Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Emmett, Methodist Episcopal Church (Emmett, Idaho), and St. Mary's Episcopal Church (Emmett, Idaho), which were all listed in 1980, and the First Full Gospel/United Pentecostal Church, which was not listed.

The Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart, on 1st St. in Emmett, Idaho, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It was designed by architects Tourtellotte & Hummel in Mission Revival style. Its front facade has a gabled roof, a baroque-curved bell tower, a round-arched entrance, and "stucco fabric enriched with wrought-iron ornament." It was built in 1928 with a 35 by 50 feet (11 m × 15 m) nave and a 12 by 38 feet (3.7 m × 11.6 m) sanctuary and sacristy offset at the rear. It was modified with additions in 1977.It is located on First Street at Hayes Avenue, directly across from the First Baptist Church of Emmett.It is one of six churches within a two block area of Emmett, established there from 1906 to 1934, which were together studied and proposed for listing on the National Register. The Emmett Presbyterian Church, also known as Emmett First Southern Baptist Church, is a historic formerly Presbyterian church building at 2nd Street in Emmett, Idaho. It was started in 1909 in a late-Gothic Revival style and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It was the first church building of the Emmett Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1906. It is a red brick building on a concrete foundation. Its roof is hipped at the rear and is jerkin-headed over a clapboard gable on the front. It has an entry tower with a steep pyramidal cap at the left front.In 1979 it was owned by the Southern Baptist congregation.It is one of six churches within a two block area of Emmett, established there from 1906 to 1934, which were together studied proposed for listing on the National Register. The Gem County Courthouse, located at the intersection of Main St. and McKinley Ave. in Emmett, serves Gem County, Idaho. The courthouse was built in 1938 to give the small county a government building, as it had been without one since the previous courthouse burned in 1920. Architect Frank Hummel of Tourtellotte and Hummel designed the Art Deco building. The two-and-one-half-story concrete building features a projecting three-story entrance with fluted columns and cross vents on either side of the doorway. Each side of the front facade features four sets of windows separated by fluted pilasters.The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 17, 1982.

Emmett is a city in Gem County, Idaho, United States. The population was 6,557 at the 2010 census, up from 5,490 in 2000. It is the county seat and the only city in the county. Emmett is part of the Boise−Nampa, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Emmett High School is a four-year public secondary school in Emmett, Idaho, the only traditional high school in the Emmett School District #221. The school colors are royal blue and white and the mascot is a husky. Red is the accent color.

KQXR is a commercial radio station licensed in Payette, Idaho, broadcasting to the Boise, Idaho metro area on 100.3 FM. The station is owned by Lotus Communications with studios located at 5257 Fairview Avenue #260, Boise, Idaho 83706. "The X"—as the station is commonly known, plays an active rock radio format and positions themselves as "100.3 The X...Rocks." The station was a finalist for Radio and Records magazine's 2007 Industry Achievement Award for best Alternative Station for markets 100 and up. Other finalists include WKZQ-FM, WJSE, WBTZ, KXNA, and WSFM. The station won the "Small Market Radio Station of the Year" at the RadioContraband Rock Radio Convention in 2017. Journal Communications and the E. W. Scripps Company announced on July 30, 2014 that the two companies would merge to create a new broadcast company under the E. W. Scripps Company name that will own the two companies' broadcast properties, including KQXR. The transaction is slated to be completed in 2015, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals.In January 2018, Scripps announced that it would sell all of its radio stations. In August 2018, Lotus Communications announced that it would acquire Scripps' Boise & Tucson clusters for $8 million. The sale was completed on December 12.

Black Canyon Diversion Dam (National Inventory of Dams ID ID00282) is a dam in Gem County, Idaho. The concrete dam was originally completed in 1924, then re-constructed between 1951 and 1955, by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. Its structure has a height of 183 feet (56 m), and a length of 1,902 feet (580 m) at its crest. It impounds the Payette River for the diversion of water into the Black Canyon and North Side Main irrigation canals, and the generation of about 2 megawatts of hydroelectric power, part of the Bureau's larger Boise Project. The dam is owned and operated by the Bureau. The riverine reservoir it creates, the Black Canyon Reservoir, has a normal water surface of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km2), about twelve miles of shoreline, and an original maximum capacity of 44,700 acre-feet, reduced by siltation to about 31,200 acre-feet. Recreation includes boating and fishing. The installation of a third hydropower generating unit has been funded by Bonneville Power Administration for completion in 2013.

Eagle Foothills AVA is the second Idaho American Viticultural Area located in the southwestern part of the state, north of Boise, and a sub-region within the vast Snake River Valley AVA. It is the first appellation in Idaho. The region encompasses 49,815 acres (20,159 ha) and nearly 70 acres (28 ha) of grapes planted when established with plans to add 472 acres (191 ha) of vineyards. The region is located in hardiness zones 7a and 7b. Vineyard elevations are approximately below 2,000 feet.

Firebird Raceway is a motorsport racing venue in the western United States, near Eagle, Idaho, in the Boise metropolitan area. The raceway opened 56 years ago in 1968 under management of racing enthusiasts Bill and Ellanor New, and it has remained under ownership of the New family. A longstanding member track of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the raceway has been named NHRA Track of the Year three times. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018, the first dragstrip to be included on the register.Just west of Highway 16 between Star and Emmett, the elevation is approximately 2,700 feet (825 m) above sea level.
