Southeastern Bible College was a private Christian Bible college in Birmingham, Alabama. The school's 22-acre campus was located in the suburbs jsouth of the downtown Birmingham area. It was accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education.Southeastern Bible College offered bachelor's and associate degrees through both a traditional day program and an adult evening program for students age 25 and up. Graduates are serving in various roles of ministry throughout the world as senior pastors, associate pastors, missionaries, teachers and counselors as well as various other positions in both public and private business.Southeastern Bible College was a non-denominational Christian college and attracted students from a broad range of Christian faiths, including Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Church of God, Assemblies of God, and non-denominational churches. Students applying for admission were required to agree with core principles of the Christian faith, including faith in Jesus as Savior and belief in the Bible as the inspired word of God. The college closed in June 2017 due to financial challenges. Three months later, the college's board of trustees announced a merger with Piedmont International University.

Inverness is a former census-designated place and now neighborhood within Hoover, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, United States. It derives from a Scottish city of the same name. U.S. Route 280 runs through Inverness and includes many restaurants and shopping centers, along with a major intersection with Valleydale Road (County Road 17). The Inverness community is only a few miles from downtown Birmingham. The Cahaba River, Lake Heather, and the Inverness Country Club can be found in Inverness. Inverness is mostly located within the city limits of Hoover, with some portions in unincorporated Shelby County. An F2 tornado damaged business buildings here along with Pelham, Helena, and Indian Springs on March 27, 1994 .

Cahaba Heights is a neighborhood of Vestavia Hills, a city in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. Before annexation in 2002, it was a census-designated place (CDP) in 1990 and 2000; the population was 5,203 at the 2000 census.

Spain Park High School (SPHS) is a four-year public high school in the Birmingham, Alabama, suburb of Hoover. It is the smaller of two high schools in the Hoover City School System. School colors are Carolina blue, black, and white, and the athletic teams are called the Jaguars. SPHS competes in AHSAA Class 7A athletics.

Hoover City Schools is the public school system serving the city of Hoover, Alabama within the Birmingham, Alabama, metropolitan area. Knesseth Israel Congregation (KI) is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in the state of Alabama. The first Orthodox congregation to organize in Birmingham in 1889, the synagogue is currently located at 3100 Overton Road, Mountain Brook, Alabama. Eytan Yammer, a graduate of Yeshivat Chovevei Torah served as rabbi from 2010 through 2016 and was named by The Forward as one of its 33 most inspiring American rabbis in 2015.

Jefferson State Community College (informally Jeff State) is a public community college with multiple campuses in Alabama, including the Jefferson Campus in northeastern Birmingham, Alabama (eastern Jefferson County), the Shelby-Hoover Campus in northern Shelby County, the St. Clair-Pell City Campus in Pell City, and the Chilton-Clanton Campus in Clanton. It is the largest college in the Alabama Community College System.

Brook Highland (formerly known as Lake Purdy) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Shelby County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 7,406.

The Vestavia Hills church shooting occurred on June 16, 2022 at 6:22 p.m. local time in Vestavia Hills, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. A man entered the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and opened fire during a potluck meeting, which the church had previously advertised. Two people were killed at the scene, a third died later in hospital, and the suspect is subsequently in custody. The suspect was a 70 year old Birmingham man named Robert Findlay Smith (born December 23, 1951), a gun dealer.

Vestavia Hills, colloquially known simply as Vestavia, is a city in Jefferson and Shelby counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is a suburb of Birmingham and it is made up of Vestavia, Liberty Park, and Cahaba Heights. As of the 2020 census, its population was 39,102, up from 34,033 in 2010. It moved up from the fifth largest city in Jefferson County in 2000 to the third largest in 2010, behind Birmingham and Hoover.
