McLennan County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in Central Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 260,579. Its county seat and largest city is Waco. The U.S. census 2022 county population estimate is 266,836. The county is named for Neil McLennan, an early Scottish settler who worked to evict the Indians in frontier Texas. McLennan County is included in the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Rich Field is a former World War I military airfield, located in Waco, Texas, near what is now the intersection of Bosque Boulevard and 41st Street. It operated as a training field for the Air Service, United States Army from 1917 until 1919. The airfield was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established in 1917 after the United States entry into World War I.

The Heart O' Texas Fair Complex, now known as the Extraco Events Center, is located in Waco, Texas. It was once the prime basketball facility for Baylor University. The H.O.T Coliseum was constructed after McLennan County voters authorized a bond issue of $1.2 million in the early 1950s. Despite public criticism that might be directed toward the board and individual members, it was the board's unanimous decision to build portions of the entire plant that the available money would permit. The last of five contracts was signed on January 9, 1952, and construction of the Coliseum began soon afterward. The Coliseum, livestock barn, ticket booths and several small buildings were constructed, paving was done and fencing enclosed the grounds. In the spring of 1953, the Coliseum was completed, and on April 11, the formal opening was held. The Coliseum remained home to Bears basketball, and Waco's largest concert venue, until Ferrell Center was built in 1988. All facilities and grounds of the Fair Complex underwent renovations and/or reconstruction throughout the years of 2000 to 2005. The Complex now covers 50 acres (200,000 m2) of land containing modernized facilities, 700 stalls, 250 RV hook-ups and parking areas able to accommodate over 3800 vehicles. Its facilities consist of the Heart O’ Texas Coliseum, Back Porch Club, Show Pavilion, General Exhibits Building, Creative Arts Building and the recently constructed Stall Barn. The Events Center coliseum seats 6,000 for rodeos and up to 9,000 for concerts. In August 2010, officials announced that Extraco Banks signed a long-term naming rights deal, officially changing the name of the grounds to the Extraco Events Center. The Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo, held for a week in October, is its largest attraction of the year, hosting a PRCA rodeo and accompanying fair, which attract hundreds of thousands.The Extraco Events Center also hosts yearly events such as the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus, Monster Trucks, major concert acts, and has also hosted WWE Monday Night Raw on several occasions.

Vanguard College Preparatory School, founded in 1973, is a private, independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school located in Waco, Texas, United States, for students in grades 7-12. Enrollment, as of the 2022-2023 academic year is 268, with 41 on the teaching faculty. The campus consists of 8.5 acres (3.4 ha) and the school is housed in several buildings. Vanguard is a college style campus. A science and math building was completed in 1984, two gymnasiums were completed in 1980 and enlarged as a multi-purpose facility in 1992, and a performing arts center was completed in 1987. A new classroom building opened for use in the fall of 2000 and a new visual arts building and video studio opened in 2004. Administrative offices were renovated in 2005 and the gymnasium complex was renovated in 2006. State of the art computer labs are accessible to students, and the entire campus has Wi-Fi. Art, drama, music, publications, service organizations, debate, Knowledge Master, Mock Trial and athletics are among their extracurricular options. The 2014 and 2016 editions of Liquid Paper, Vanguard's literary magazine, received a superior rating from the National Council of Teachers of English. The 2011 edition, Circadian, received first place from the American Scholastic Press Association.

Texas Christian Academy (TCA) was a private college preparatory school in Waco, Texas. The school mascot was the Star.

Richland Mall is a 708,249-square-foot (65,798.5 m2) regional shopping mall in Waco, Texas owned by CBL & Associates Properties located on 77 acres (31 ha). The mall opened in 1980. It has 95 stores with five anchors. The anchor stores are JCPenney, Dick's Sporting Goods, 2 Dillard's stores, Tilt Studio, and Shoe Dept. There is one vacant anchor store that was once Dillard's. The mall contains two Dillard's stores, one of which was originally H. J. Wilson Co. and later Service Merchandise.On December 28, 2018, it was announced that Sears would be closing as part of a plan to close 80 stores nationwide. The store closed in March 2019. Dillard's has since renovated the former Sears space and moved one of its store into it. The new store opened in May 2020. Bealls' parent company announced in September 2019 that it would be converting the Bealls name to Gordmans. However, in May 2020, Gordmans announced that it was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and that it would be closing all locations as the chain is now going out of business. The location was filled by a Tilt Studio family entertainment center in 2021.

KBGO (95.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format. Licensed to Waco, Texas, United States, the station serves the Waco area. The station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and features programming from Premiere Radio Networks. Its studios and transmitter are co-located on Highway 6 in Waco.

Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School is a private Catholic Parish school located in Waco, Texas. It is situated halfway between Dallas and Austin. Bishop Reicher was founded in 1954 by the Diocese of Austin. Reicher academics include curriculum offering of Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, and Honor courses. "St. Louis Reicher Catholic School educates each student in spirit, mind and body by fostering personal excellence within the Catholic tradition."

Lake Waco is a man-made reservoir located on the west side of Waco, in McLennan County, Texas. It provides water to several cities in the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area, including Waco (pop. 135,858), Bellmead (pop. 9,901), Hewitt (pop. 13,368), Robinson (pop. 10,509), Woodway (pop. 8,452) and others in the Cross Timbers and Prairies ecoregion of Texas. Lake Waco was formed by a dam built on the Bosque River basin. The lake has 79,000 acre-feet (97,000,000 m3) of water and is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Waco ( WAY-koh) is a city in and the county seat of McLennan County, Texas, United States. It is situated along the Brazos River and I-35, halfway between Dallas and Austin. The city had a U.S. census estimated 2022 population of 143,984, making it the 24th-most populous city in the state. The Waco metropolitan statistical area consists of McLennan, Falls and Bosque counties, which had a 2020 population of 295,782. Bosque County was added to the Waco MSA in 2023. The 2022 U.S. census population estimate for the Waco metropolitan area was 302,582 residents.

KWBT HD2 broadcasts a national Sports Talk format from CBS Sports Radio, branded as "CBS Sports 94.5 HD2." KWBT is licensed to Waco, Texas, United States, and the station serves the Waco metropolitan area. The station is owned by Jerry and Loy Lenamon, through licensee Kennelwood Radio, LLC. KWBT's studios are located in Waco, and its transmitter is located off Beverley Drive near the Waco VA Hospital.

The Waco metropolitan statistical area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of McLennan, Falls and Bosque counties in Central Texas, anchored by the city of Waco. As of the 1 April 2020 census (which includes all 3 Counties), the MSA had a population of 295,782. The 2023 population estimate was over 300,000 which includes Bosque County (added to the Waco MSA in 2023).
