Jensen-Clark House

The Orlando H. and Emma H. Hardcastle House, at 8751 South 40 East in Sandy, Utah, was built around 1893. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.It is a one-story cross-wing frame house, upon a stone and concrete foundation, with drop siding. The house, in 1999, retained many of its original Victorian Eclectic details such as the lathe-turned posts and scroll-cut fan brackets."It was a home of Orlando Heathcote Hardcastle (February 26, 1863 - February 7, 1932), who was born in Sheffield, England, and who immigrated to Utah with his family when he was around 13 years old. It was a home of Emma Hardcastle (October 31, 1864 - June 19, 1940), who was born in West Jordan, Utah. They were married on February 19, 1882, and probably settled then in Sandy. Orlando worked at the Mingo smelter in Sandy, as a foreman and shift boss, until it closed in 1901. Then he then worked at the American Smelting and Refining plant in Murray, Utah. He was an active member of the International Order of Odd Fellows.

The Hannah Nash Dowding House, at 8830 S 60 E in Sandy, Utah, was built around 1898. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.It is a one-story, wood-frame hall-parlor plan cottage.It was deemed "a typical example of a residence for the earliest working class citizens of Sandy."It is also located at 280 South 300 West.

The Alfred C. and Annie L. Olsen Anderson House, at 8850 South 60 East in Sandy, Utah, was built around 1916. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It is also included in the National Register-listed Sandy Historic District. It is a one-story buff brick house, with a nearly pyramidal roof.It was deemed significant as "an interesting example of Sandy's residential architecture in transition during the early twentieth century. The house is essentially a transitional Victorian cottage, displaying the influence of both the bungalow style and Craftsman movement."Alfred was born near Oslo, Norway; Annie was from Salt Lake City.

The Sandy Co-op Block, located at 8750 South Center St. (150 East), in Sandy, Utah, was built in 1889 and was originally a ZCMI shop. Known later as Sandy Museum, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.Its 1992 NRHP nomination asserted it is important "as a distinct and important type of commercial structure which was common in Sandy City in the latter half of the nineteenth century. This structure is the only remaining two-story commercial block from Sandy's original commercial district." It is associated with the mining, smelting, and small farm era of Sandy. Sandy had been connected by railroad in 1871.

The William D. Kuhre House, at 8586 S. 150 East in Sandy, Utah, was built in 1890. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.It was substantially remodeled around 1910, with addition of a full-width porch on the front, stuccoing of the second-story exterior walls, and more, in style typical of early twentieth-century architecture, not of the 1890s Victorian period in which the house was built. Its arrangement is of foursquare type. The house was deemed significant for association with William D. Kuhre, who lived here from 1890 until the 1930s. He was mayor of Sandy, was a member of the school board for many years, was bishop of the Sandy Ward of the LDS church, and was a partner in Jensen & Kuhre Lumber and Hardware Company.Kuhre, born January 21, 1863, at Ephraim, in Sanpete County, Utah was orphaned on October 17, 1865 when his Danish immigrant parents were killed by Indians under Chief Blackhawk; young William was taken but was left unharmed. He was adopted by John and Ellen Dobbie who moved to Salt Lake City and brought up William there. William moved to Sandy in 1881 and worked as bookkeeper at the Pioneer Ore Sampling Mill for many years.The property has two more contributing buildings, including an old summer kitchen and wash house.

Historic Sandy is a light rail station in Sandy, Utah, in the United States, served by the Blue Line of Utah Transit Authority's TRAX light rail system. The Blue Line provides service from Downtown Salt Lake City to Draper.

The Mary Ellen Parmley House, at 8850 S. 220 East in Sandy, Utah, is a one-story, wood-frame house built originally around 1898 as a Hall-Parlor cottage. It has had several additions on its west side. The first addition plus original portion make a T-shaped crosswing form.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. And it is also known as 316 South 220 East.

The Hyrum and Selma Erickson Jacobson House, at 8908 South 220 East in Sandy, Utah, was built in 1914. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.It is a one-story brick cross-wing house, built upon a foundation of ashlar granite blocks. Its original red brick exterior was painted red, and later the mortar joints between were painted white. It has Victorian Eclectic details.

The Sandy City Bank, at 212 E. Main St. in Sandy, Utah, was built in 1907. It includes Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals and Italian Renaissance architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.It is an example of Italian Renaissance Revival style architecture, also known as Second Renaissance Revival, in the area of Sandy City.In 1997 it was no longer a bank, and instead was a day care facility.

The Sandy Tithing Office is a historic building in Sandy, Utah. It was built in 1906-1907 as a tithing building for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Iy was designed in the Victorian Eclectic style, with a pyramid roof and a gabled pavilion. The bishop of the Sandy ward at the time was William D. Kuhre. The builder and architect are not known. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 25, 1985.

The Allsop-Jensen House, at 8829 S. 400 East St. in Sandy, Utah, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.The property includes a house and a barn, both deemed to be contributing buildings. The house was built in c.1874, c.1892, and c.1900. About the barn:The Allsop/Jensen Barn has been identified as the Watterson Barn, according to John Ralph Ferrin, MA Thesis, 1981. The barn is hewn log and wood frame construction. Ferrin indicates the barn was built in 1874 in Draper, from wood cut in Bell's canyon; later the barn was dismantled and moved to its present site in 1880. Ferrin notes several metal rings at the bottom logs, and states that they were used when the barn was dismantled and moved. Mr. Watterson, however, has stated that Evan Jensen (youngest son of James Jensen) indicated that the barn was dragged to its present site by team (with only the roof removed). Does the barn still exist? Or could it have been moved and saved elsewhere? It appears to be gone.
