The University of Central Arkansas shooting was a school shooting that took place on the 12,500-student campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas on Sunday, October 26, 2008.The shooting occurred after 9:00pm CDT outside of the Arkansas Hall dormitory. Two students – Ryan Henderson, 18, and Chavares Block, 19 – were fatally shot. A third person, 19-year-old Martrevis Norman, a non-student visiting the campus, was shot in the leg and was treated at the nearby Conway Regional Medical Center.Four suspects were charged in the shooting: Kawin Brockton, 19, Kelsey Perry, 19, Mario Tony, 20, and Brandon Wade, 20. However, only Perry was convicted, and he pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and other charges and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.This was the third time in 2008 that an Arkansas campus was the scene of a shooting. On January 23, Arkansas State University offensive line-man 20-year Alfred Louis was grazed in the lower left leg when someone fired several rounds from a 9mm handgun at a residence hall. He was treated at a local hospital. Charges were later dismissed against the person accused of firing the shots. On February 27, a student was shot and injured at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Two suspects were arrested and charged in that crime however it was later determined that the UALR shooting was not a prototypical "school shooting" as it involved non-students.

The University of Central Arkansas (Central Arkansas or UCA) is a public university in Conway, Arkansas. Founded in 1907 as the Arkansas State Normal School, the university is one of the oldest in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As the state's only normal school at the time, UCA has historically been the primary source of teachers in Arkansas. It was one of about 180 "normal schools" founded by state governments to train teachers for the rapidly growing public common schools. Some closed but most steadily expanded their role and became state colleges in the early 20th century and state universities in the late 20th century. The university comprises five colleges and five residential colleges and one commuter college. UCA has about 12,000 graduate and undergraduate students, making it one of the largest universities in the state. The university maintains a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 17 to 1. Over 150 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs are offered at the university. UCA occupies over 120 buildings within its 356 acres (1.44 km2).

The Norbert O. Schedler Honors College is an interdisciplinary program at the University of Central Arkansas. One of the first Honors Colleges (in contrast to numerous honors programs) in the country, the Schedler Honors College leads to the receipt of a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies. Successful completion of the minor requires a senior thesis or a supplemental senior project such as a performance, exhibit, or other creative work.

First Security Field at Estes Stadium is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Conway, Arkansas. It is home to the Central Arkansas Bears football team, representing the University of Central Arkansas in the NCAA's United Athletic Conference. The facility opened in 1939. In 2007, university President Lu Hardin announced that corporate sponsorship had been secured for the stadium from a local bank. As a result, the formal title of the stadium is First Security Field at Estes Stadium. The stadium is named after Dan Estes, who coached the Bears from 1915 to 1932.

The Farris Center is a 6,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Conway, Arkansas. It was built in 1972. It is home to the University of Central Arkansas Bears basketball program. Renovations to the Farris Center in 2010 included new scoreboards and renovated court including logos. New floor seating was added in 2012.

Bear Stadium is a baseball venue in Conway, Arkansas, United States. It is home to the Central Arkansas Bears college baseball team of the NCAA's Division I Southland Conference. Last rebuilt in 2009, the facility has a capacity of 1,000 spectators.

The J.E. Little House is a historic house at 427 Western Avenue in Conway, Arkansas, USA. It is a two-story masonry structure, its walls finished in brick and stucco, with a gabled tile roof that has exposed rafter ends and brackets in the Craftsman style. Its most prominent feature is a projecting two-story Greek temple portico, supported by Tuscan columns. It shelters a balcony set on the roof of a single-story porch, which extends to the left of the portico. It was built in 1919 for John Elijah Little, a local businessman who was a major benefactor of both Hendrix College and Faulkner County Hospital.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Farris Field is the home stadium for the Division I (NCAA) Central Arkansas Sugar Bears softball team. Located next to the Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas, the stadium features seating for 1,000 fans. Included in the 1,000 seat capacity is bleacher seating for 500. An outfield grass berm can accommodate an additional 500 fans. The stadium has field lighting, bullpens, dugouts, a press box, and an electronic scoreboard. Beyond the left field fence are locker rooms and batting cages.

The Lasley's College Apartments are a historic apartment complex at 1916 and 1922 Bruce Street in Conway, Arkansas, adjacent to the campus of the University of Central Arkansas. It consists of two two-story brick buildings flanking a central courtyard. Each building has a flat roof with parapet, and houses eight residential units, four one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units in each. They were built in 1947 in response to the university's increasing demand for housing, and are a well-preserved example of period multiunit residential architecture.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Frauenthal House is a historic house in Conway, Arkansas. It was designed by Charles L. Thompson and built in 1913, exhibiting a combination of Colonial Revival, Georgian Revival, and Craftsman styling. It is a two-story brick building, topped by a gabled tile roof with exposed rafter ends in the eaves. A Classical portico shelters the entrance, with four Tuscan columns supporting an entablature and full pedimented and dentillated gable. The 5,000-square-foot (460 m2) house, with 22 rooms, was built for Jo and Ida Baridon Frauenthal and is currently occupied by the Conway Regional Health Foundation.The house was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Conway is a city in the U.S. state of Arkansas and the county seat of Faulkner County, located in the state's most populous Metropolitan Statistical Area, Central Arkansas. Although considered a suburb of Little Rock, Conway is unusual in that the majority of its residents do not commute out of the city to work. Conway is home to three post-secondary educational institutions, earning it the nickname "The City of Colleges".As of the 2020 census, the city proper had a total population of 64,134, making Conway the 8th most populous city in Arkansas. Central Arkansas, the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area, is ranked 75th largest in the United States with 734,622 people in 2016. Conway is part of the larger Little Rock–North Little Rock, AR Combined Statistical Area, which in 2016 had a population of 905,847, and ranked the country's 60th largest CSA.

The D.O. Harton House is a historic house at 607 Davis Street in Conway, Arkansas. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, with a hip roof, weatherboard siding, and a brick foundation. A hip-roof dormer projects from the front of the roof, and a single-story porch extends across the front, supported by wooden box columns with Classical detailing. Built in 1913, it is a well-kept example of a vernacular American Foursquare house, built by D.O. Harton, Jr., a local contractor.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
