Mungret

Mungret College was a Jesuit apostolic school and a lay secondary school near Limerick, Ireland. Located on the western outskirts of the modern-day suburban town of Raheen, it was operational from 1882 until 1974 when it closed as a school for the last time. The college produced over 1000 priests in that period. It had previously been an agricultural college and a Limerick diocesan seminary until 1888. The secondary school was relatively small, with around 225 boarders and 25 day boarders. Mungret was one of a number of Jesuit schools founded in Ireland.

Mungret Abbey is a medieval friary and National Monument located in County Limerick, Ireland.

The Limerick Tunnel (Irish: Tollán Luimnigh) is a 675-metre-long (2,215 ft), twin bore road tunnel underneath the River Shannon on the outskirts of Limerick city. The tunnel forms part of the N18 Limerick Southern Ring Road. The tunnel is tolled.

Coonagh (Irish: Cuanach, meaning 'winding, abounding in hollows, estuary') is an area, comprising the townlands of: Coonagh West (aka "Upper Coonagh", "the village", or "Faha", typically meaning "exercise green" in Irish) Coonagh East (aka "Lower Coonagh")Coonagh is situated at the north-western corner of County Limerick in Ireland on the banks of the River Shannon near the border with County Clare, and in fact was at one point in history situated within County Limerick, prior to a boundary extension that saw it transfer to Limerick (the area was transferred from Limerick to the city of Limerick in 2008). It is part of the Catholic parish Parteen-Meelick-Coonagh in the diocese of Limerick, with several generations of Coonagh families having attended Meelick National School (Scoil Mhuire Miliuc), Co. Clare. In 1111 AD, Parteen, Meelick and Coonagh were assigned to the Diocese of Limerick at the Synod of Ráth Breasail when the boundaries of the dioceses were drawn up. The Tithe Applotments of Co. Clare also indicate that Coonagh was part of the parish of Killeely in 1833.

Raheen (Irish: An Ráithín, meaning 'small ringfort') is a large suburb of Limerick, Ireland. Initially developed to ease population overspill from the city of Limerick, Raheen is socioeconomically diverse, ranging from older, poor class housing estates to relatively affluent areas.

Clarina (Irish: Clár Aidhne) is a village in County Limerick in the province of Munster, Ireland. It lies between Mungret and Kildimo on the N69 National Route about 6 miles west of Limerick city close to the River Maigue. The Maigue is a tributary of the River Shannon and enters the Shannon estuary between Limerick city and the mouth of the Deel river, Askeaton, county Limerick. Clarina is within the Patrickswell-Ballybrown parish. The main area of interest is the nearby location of Carrigogunnell Castle.

The River Shannon (Irish: Abhainn na Sionainne, an tSionainn, an tSionna), at 360.5 km (224 miles) in length, is the longest river in the British Isles It drains the Shannon River Basin, which has an area of 16,865 km2 (6,512 sq mi), - one fifth of the area of the island. The Shannon divides the west of Ireland (principally the province of Connacht) from the east and south (Leinster and most of Munster). (County Clare, being west of the Shannon but part of the province of Munster, is the major exception.) The river represents a major physical barrier between east and west, with fewer than thirty-five crossing-points between Limerick city in the south and the village of Dowra in the north. The river takes its name after Sionna, a Celtic goddess.Known as an important waterway since antiquity, the Shannon first appeared in maps by the Graeco-Egyptian geographer Ptolemy (c. 100 – c. 170 AD). The river flows generally southwards from the Shannon Pot in County Cavan before turning west and emptying into the Atlantic Ocean through the 102.1 km (63.4 mi) long Shannon Estuary. Limerick city stands at the point where the river water meets the sea water of the estuary. The Shannon is tidal east of Limerick as far as the base of the Ardnacrusha dam.

Patrickswell GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Patrickswell in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling and currently holds the record for most Limerick Senior Hurling Championship wins (20).

Na Piarsaigh (Irish pronunciation: [n̪ˠə ˈpʲiəɾˠsˠiː]) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated on the north side of Limerick City, Ireland. It was founded in 1968. Following their 1–15 to 3–11 victory in the 2014 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship over St Senan's, Na Piarsaigh are one of three dual senior club in hurling and Gaelic football in Limerick. The club currently field five adult teams three in hurling (senior, Intermediate & Junior) and two in football (Senior & Junior), the most of any club in Limerick. In 2011, Na Piarsaigh won their first ever Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. In November 2015, Na Piarsaigh won their third Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship after a 2–18 to 2–11 win against Ballygunner in the final. On St Patrick's Day, 2016 Na Piarsaigh won their first ever All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship beating Ruairí Óg, Cushendall 2–25 to 2–14 in Croke Park, becoming the first ever Limerick club to do so. In November 2016 Na Piarsaigh won the Limerick Junior 'A' County Hurling Championship beating fellow city club St Patrick's 1–16 to 1–12, earning promotion to the Limerick Intermediate Hurling Championship for 2017 and becoming the only club in Limerick to field teams in both the Senior & Intermediate County Hurling Championships.

The Crescent Shopping Centre is a major shopping centre serving Limerick, Ireland. It is located in Dooradoyle, on the southern outskirts of the city. The complex in its original form was opened in 1973, making it one of the earlier shopping centres to open in Ireland. It has an estimated 100,000 m2 (1,100,000 sq ft) of space, 2,500 free car parking places and 94 shops (including stalls). The shopping centre takes its name from the adjacent Crescent College, whose original building was in The Crescent in the city centre.

Patrickswell, historically known as Toberpatrick (Irish: Tobar Phádraig), is a small town in County Limerick, Ireland. It is primarily a commuter village for people working in Limerick, particularly the nearby industrial suburb of Raheen. The population was 847 at the 2016 census.
