Clarina (County Limerick)

Carrigogunnell Castle (Irish: Chairrge Ó gCoinneall) is a medieval Irish fortification near the village of Clarina, on the banks of the River Shannon in County Limerick. The structure dates to at least the early 13th century, and was sleighted in September 1691 after being captured during the second siege of Limerick.

Mungret (Irish: Mungairit) is a village and civil parish in County Limerick, Ireland. It is located close to Limerick City on the N69 national secondary road. As of the 2016 census, the village had a population of 277 people.The local church, which is dedicated to Saint Oliver Plunkett, was built in 1981; and is in the parish of Mungret, Crecora and Raheen within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Limerick. The local Gaelic Athletic Association club is Mungret St. Pauls GAA.

Patrickswell GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Patrickswell in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling and currently holds the record for most Limerick Senior Hurling Championship wins (20).

Patrickswell, historically known as Toberpatrick (Irish: Tobar Phádraig), is a small town in County Limerick, Ireland. It is primarily a commuter village for people working in Limerick, particularly the nearby industrial suburb of Raheen. The population was 847 at the 2016 census.

The Limerick Tunnel (Irish: Tollán Luimnigh) is a 675-metre-long (2,215 ft), twin bore road tunnel underneath the River Shannon on the outskirts of Limerick city. The tunnel forms part of the N18 Limerick Southern Ring Road. The tunnel is tolled.

Mungret College was a Jesuit apostolic school and a lay secondary school near Limerick, Ireland. Located on the western outskirts of the modern-day suburban town of Raheen, it was operational from 1882 until 1974 when it closed as a school for the last time. The college produced over 1000 priests in that period. It had previously been an agricultural college and a Limerick diocesan seminary until 1888. The secondary school was relatively small, with around 225 boarders and 25 day boarders. Mungret was one of a number of Jesuit schools founded in Ireland.

Coonagh (Irish: Cuanach, meaning 'winding, abounding in hollows, estuary') is an area, comprising the townlands of: Coonagh West (aka "Upper Coonagh", "the village", or "Faha", typically meaning "exercise green" in Irish) Coonagh East (aka "Lower Coonagh")Coonagh is situated at the north-western corner of County Limerick in Ireland on the banks of the River Shannon near the border with County Clare, and in fact was at one point in history situated within County Limerick, prior to a boundary extension that saw it transfer to Limerick (the area was transferred from Limerick to the city of Limerick in 2008). It is part of the Catholic parish Parteen-Meelick-Coonagh in the diocese of Limerick, with several generations of Coonagh families having attended Meelick National School (Scoil Mhuire Miliuc), Co. Clare. In 1111 AD, Parteen, Meelick and Coonagh were assigned to the Diocese of Limerick at the Synod of Ráth Breasail when the boundaries of the dioceses were drawn up. The Tithe Applotments of Co. Clare also indicate that Coonagh was part of the parish of Killeely in 1833.

Pubblebrien (Irish: Pobal Bhriain) is a historical barony in northern County Limerick, Ireland. Baronies were mainly cadastral rather than administrative units. They acquired modest local taxation and spending functions in the 19th century before being superseded by the Local Government (Ireland) Act 1898.

Kilgobbin House is a country house in Adare, County Limerick, Ireland. Kilgobbin was the original seat of the Quin family, and mostly served as the dower house after the construction of Adare Manor. In 1777, Sir Richard Quin, later created 1st Earl of Dunraven, married Lady Frances Muriel Fox-Strangways, a daughter of Stephen Fox-Strangways, 1st Earl of Ilchester. Richard's father, Windham Quin, gave him Kilgobbin, where the couple lived until Quin inherited Adare Manor. In the 1980s, Thady Wyndham-Quin, 7th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl, sold Adare Manor, and Kilgobbin returned to being the family seat. The peerages became extinct on the death of the 7th Earl in 2011.

The Church of St. John, is the Roman Catholic parish church of Cratloe, in County Clare, Ireland. It was originally built in 1791 by Fr. James Ward, the parish priest at that time. Two transepts having been added to the original chancel and nave in 1806, by Fr. Jeremiah Cronin. The doorway to the right transept is a medieval doorway, believed to have come from one of the earlier churches of Kilfintenan or Craughaun in the parish. It is one of only three remaining 'barn' churches in Ireland built during penal times, a time when Roman Catholics were not allowed practice their religion. In 1828 Daniel O'Connell, an MP for County Clare who would later go on to be known as The Liberator, made a speech outside the church about the Catholic Emancipation Act, arguing that Catholic Members of Parliament should be allowed take their seat once elected, which was forbidden at that time. The quaint country church is popular for weddings, and a number of celebrity weddings have been held here, including that of Sharon Corr, of the musical group The Corrs.

Cratloe-Sixmilebridge is a parish in County Clare and part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Limerick.Current (2021) parish priest is Richard Keane.The original name of the parish was Kilfintinan. The main church of the parish is the Church of St. John in Cratloe, with 1798 mentioned as the start date of the actual building. In later times it was several times enlarged. The church survived a proposal in the late eighties to demolish the church and build a new one. Due to a vocal group of parishioners being against the plan, the barn church was renovated instead. The second church of the parish is the "Little Church" in Sixmilebridge. This church was built in 1858 as replacement for an thatched church out of 1799. The church has never had an official patron saint. It is likely that the name of the church is derived from a simple comparison with the bigger Church of St. Finaghta on the other side of the town that belongs to the parish of Sixmilebridge in the Diocese of Killaloe.
