Valle Cannobina

Cavaglio-Spoccia was a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 140 kilometres (87 mi) northeast of Turin and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northeast of Verbania, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 273 and an area of 18.2 square kilometres (7.0 sq mi). The municipality consisted of the villages of Cavaglio, Gurrone, Lunecco and Spoccia. On 1 January 2019 the municipalities of Cursolo-Orasso, Cavaglio-Spoccia and Falmenta merged into the municipality of Valle Cannobina.Cavaglio-Spoccia bordered the following municipalities: Brissago (Switzerland), Cannobio, Cursolo-Orasso, Falmenta, Gurro, Palagnedra (Switzerland).

Falmenta was a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) northeast of Turin and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) north of Verbania. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 201 and an area of 16.2 square kilometres (6.3 sq mi). On 1 January 2019 the municipalities of Cursolo-Orasso, Cavaglio-Spoccia and Falmenta merged into the municipality of Valle Cannobina. Falmenta bordered the following municipalities: Aurano, Cannobio, Cavaglio-Spoccia, Gurro, Miazzina, Trarego Viggiona.

Trarego Viggiona is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) northeast of Turin and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) north of Verbania. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 375 and an area of 18.8 square kilometres (7.3 sq mi). The municipality of Trarego Viggiona contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Viggiona and Cheglio. Trarego Viggiona borders the following municipalities: Aurano, Cannero Riviera, Cannobio, Oggebbio, Valle Cannobina.

The Gridone, Ghiridone or Monte Limidario is a mountain of the Lepontine Alps, overlooking Lake Maggiore near Brissago. At 2,188 metres above sea level, its summit straddles the border between Italy and Switzerland. The summit can be easily reached from both sides, although it is nearly 2,000 metres above Lake Maggiore.

The 19th-century politician Massimo D’Azeglio spent his last years in his villa here.
