The Ashalim power station is a concentrated solar power station in the Negev desert near the community settlement of Ashalim, south of the district city of Be'er Sheva in Israel. It consists of three plots with three different technologies through which the station combines 3 kinds of energy: solar thermal energy, photovoltaic energy, and natural gas. Ashalim Plot A (Negev Energy) is a 121 megawatt parabolic trough plant with 4.5 hours of thermal energy storage. The Ashalim Plot B (Megalim) hosts a solar power tower. It has an installed capacity of 121 megawatts, concentrating 50,600 computer-controlled heliostats enough to power 120,000 homes. Electricity production commenced in September 2019, producing 320 GWhr of energy per year. The project was a joint venture between Brightsource and Alstom. The station was the tallest solar power tower in the world at a height of 260 meters including the boiler but was recently surpassed by the 262.44-meter-tall (861.0 ft) solar power tower at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Ashalim Plot C is a 30 MW photovoltaic plant, commissioned in 2018, one year before the CSP plants. In 2019 EDF Renewables won a tender for another NIS 150 ($43) million PV plant at a record low price of 8.68 agorot (3 cents) per kilowatt hour.

Sheizaf (Hebrew: שיזף) is a mixed religious-secular community settlement in southern Israel. Located around 25 kilometres south of Beersheba, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. In 2024 it had a population of 137.

Tlalim (Hebrew: טְלָלִים) is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the Negev desert, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. In 2024 it had a population of 686.

The Battles of Bir 'Asluj refer to a series of military engagements between Israel and Egypt in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, around the localities Bir 'Asluj and the nearby Bir Thamila (also Bir Tamila or Bir Tmileh). Bir 'Asluj was a small Bedouin center and a strategic location on the 'Auja–Beersheba road. The Israelis captured the position early in the war, in an attempt to disconnect the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood forces from the main Egyptian Army concentration on the coastal plain, but set up positions across the road and the threat to their transport was neutralized. The entire vicinity of Bir 'Asluj, including Bir Thamila, was captured by Israeli Negev Brigade forces on December 25–26, 1948, during Operation Horev. In the first stage, the 7th Battalion took Bir Thamila, but failed to reach the road and retreated with heavy losses. In the morning, armored vehicles from the 9th Battalion assaulted the Egyptian road positions and captured them. This was later followed by the conquest of the entire road to the border at 'Auja, expelling the Egyptian forces from Israel in this region.

Mashabei Sadeh (Hebrew: מַשְׁאַבֵּי שָׂדֶה) is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the Negev desert, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 474.

Revivim (Hebrew: רְבִיבִים, lit. '(rain) showers') is a kibbutz in the Negev desert in southern Israel. Located around half an hour south of Beersheba, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 1,106.

Retamim (Hebrew: רְתָמִים) is a kibbutz in the central Negev desert in southern Israel. Located three kilometres northwest of Revivim, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 651.

Naẖal HaRo'a (Hebrew: נחל הרועה, lit. 'Shepherd's Wadi', with the word for "shepherd" being in its feminine form) is a wadi in the northern Negev Mountains, from the tributaries of Nahal HaBesor. Along its length are impressive remains of ancient Nabatean agriculture and a water plant by means of which the stream crosses Kemer Halukim. One of its tributaries is Nahal Halukim (lit. 'Pebbles Wadi' or 'Cobbles Wadi'); the ancient name of the stream was "Wadi Halikom", after the riverbed pebbles (Hebrew: חלוקי נחל, ẖalukei naẖal) whose name has been preserved in Kemer Halukim. The wadi's name (meaning "Shepherd's Wadi" or "Shepherd's Creek"), along with the nearby Shepherd's Parking (חניון הרועה, H̱anyon HaRo'a), was given in memory of Barbara Proper (1930–1952), who was murdered on the spot by Bedouins from the area. Barbara Proper was born in Germany, to a Jewish mother. She immigrated to Israel and grew up in Jerusalem, as an adopted daughter of Johanna and Dr. Emmanuel Proper. The Shepherd's Ruins (חורבת הרועה, H̱urbat HaRo'a), or the Shepherd's Site (אתר הרועה, Atar HaRo'a), is an archaeological site located in the Negev Mountains, about 5 km northeast of kibbutz Sde Boker, near the road from there to Yeruham, at 30°54′28″N 34°51′12″E. The site is located on a hill that dominates an ancient road along Nahal HaRo'a, which is 10 m above its surroundings, and 550 m above sea level.

The School for Infantry Corps Professions and Squad Commanders (Hebrew: Beit HaSefer LiMfakdei Kitot UMiktzo'ot Heil HaRaglim, best known by its acronym Bislamach) is the Israel Defense Forces body responsible for the training of all Infantry Corps squad commanders and platoon sergeants. Established in 1974 under the command of Yaakov Hasdai, the school comprises three operative battalions (17th, 906th, and 450th), ordinarily used for training. During wars or emergencies, as was the case during the Yom Kippur War, these serve as fully operational combat forces. Since 2006 these battalions form the 828th Brigade (formerly 772th Brigade), referred to as the Bislamach Brigade (formerly called Bislach Brigade). The brigade has three bases, all located in the Negev. Before Operation Rainbow, during the Al-Aqsa Intifada, the brigade's soldiers participated in searching the Philadelphi Route for the bodies of the soldiers from the Sayeret Yahalom, who were killed during the armoured personnel carrier disaster of May 11–12, 2004. They also took part in the Gaza disengagement plan, following which they were the first to hold the border with the Gaza Strip. The 17th Battalion of the Bislamach Brigade was involved in combat in the Battle of Zikim, claiming to have killed four militants at Zikim Beach in a video posted to social media on 10 October 2023.

Merhav Am (Hebrew: מֶרְחַב עַם, lit. 'Nation's Expanse') is a religious community settlement in southern Israel. Located in the Negev desert between Yeruham and the kibbutz of Sde Boker, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. In 2024 it had a population of 679.

Camp Ariel Sharon (Hebrew: מחנה אריאל שרון, Mahane Ariel Sharon), also called the City of Training Bases (Hebrew: עיר הבה"דים, Ir HaBahadim), is a complex of military bases being built in southern Israel, belonging to the Israel Defense Forces and named after the former Major General and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. In total, it is a NIS 50 billion project.Upon completion it will be the largest military base in the country, with the ability to house over 10,000 recruits in training. The base is located near Yeruham and next to the Negev Junction of roads 40 and 224. The base will serve as an umbrella training facility, housing training bases 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 20 and other training bases, including noncombat recruit training bases. It will cover a built-up area of 230 dunams (230,000 m2)

Al-Khalasa (Arabic: الخلصة, romanized: al-Khalasah; Hebrew: אל-ח'אלצה, al-Khalatsah), was a Palestinian village, located 23 kilometers southwest of the town of Beersheba. The village stood at the site of an ancient town from the Nabatean, Roman, Byzantine, and the beginning of the Early Muslim period. The ancient city, founded by the Nabateans, is known from Greek and Roman sources as "Halasa" or "Chellous", and later as "Elusa", one of the Byzantine administrative centers in the Negev Desert. Still important in the century of the Muslim conquest, it was deserted not long after. The site was repopulated by Bedouin in the early twentieth century, after western archaeologists took an interest in it. In October 1948, it was captured by Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The population of al-Khalasa is unknown, but all of the inhabitants were Muslims, from the al-Azizma tribe.
