The Special Region of Yogyakarta (English: ; Indonesian: Daerah Istimewa (D.I.) Yogyakarta, Javanese: ꦭꦭꦢ꧀ꦢꦤ꧀ꦩꦶꦫꦸꦁꦒꦤ꧀ꦔꦪꦺꦴꦓꦾꦏꦂꦠ, romanized: Daérah Istiméwa Yogyakarta) is a provincial-level autonomous region of Indonesia in southern Java.It is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south, as well as sharing all the land borders to the province of Central Java. Co-ruled by the Yogyakarta Sultanate and the Duchy of Pakualaman, the region is the only officially recognized diarchy within the government of Indonesia. The city of Yogyakarta is a popular tourist destination and cultural center of the region. The Yogyakarta Sultanate was established in 1755 and provided unwavering support for Indonesia's independence during the Indonesian National Revolution (1945–1949). As a first-level division in Indonesia, Yogyakarta is governed by Sultan Hamengkubuwono X as the governor and Prince Paku Alam X as the vice governor. With a land area of just 3,185.8 km2, it is the second-smallest province-level entity of Indonesia after Jakarta.

Yogyakarta Station, commonly known as Tugu Station (abbreviation YK, number 3020) is a railway station located in Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, in Indonesia. The altitude of this station is +113 m (371 ft) amsl. It is the biggest and most important station in Yogyakarta, located in the heart of the city. This station is adjacent to Jalan Malioboro. The city's other most important station is Lempuyangan railway station.

The Grand Inna Malioboro is a historic colonial hotel in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Established in 1908 as the Grand Hotel de Djokja, then when the Japanese Empire came to Yogyakarta, the hotel name was changed to Hotel Asahi, it was later known as the Hotel Merdeka, Natour Hotel Garuda, and Inna Garuda. It contains 223 rooms. The hotel was once effectively the de facto headquarters for the government and a Christian stronghold. The hotel is a part of Hotel Indonesia Group chain, a subsidiary of state-owned tourism holding company InJourney.

Dharma Wiratama Museum, officially the Dharma Wiratama Central Army Museum (Indonesian: Museum Pusat TNI AD Dharma Wiratama) is a military museum centred on the history of the Indonesian Army from its inception in 1945 up through the coup of 30 September 1965 and Indonesian peacekeeping missions. It is located in the former national army headquarters in Yogyakarta.

Kridosono Stadium (Indonesian: Stadion Kridosono) is a football stadium located in Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. The stadium is surrounded by three roads, east is the Gondosuli Road, south is Kenari Road, and west is the Andung Road. The stadium is used mostly for football matches in general and also held several large events in the city, such as concerts, the presidential campaign, and Eid prayers. The stadium is formerly home of PSIM Yogyakarta. In 2025, Kridosono Stadium was returned to the Yogyakarta Sultanate, and is planned to be converted into a green open space.

Jalan Malioboro (Javanese: ꦢꦭꦤ꧀​ꦩꦭꦶꦪꦧꦫ, romanized: Dalan Maliyabara; English: Malioboro Street) is a major shopping street in Yogyakarta, Indonesia; the name is also used more generally for the neighborhood around the street. It lies north–south axis in the line between Yogyakarta Kraton and Mount Merapi. This is in itself is significant to many of the local population, the north–south orientation between the palace and the volcano being of importance. The street is the centre of Yogyakarta's largest tourist district surrounded with many hotels, restaurants, and shops nearby. Sidewalks on both sides of the street are crowded with small stalls selling a variety of goods. In the evening several open-air street side restaurants, called lesehan, operate along the street. This is the street of the artists. Street musicians, painters, and other artists exhibit their creations on this road. Less obvious to the tourist, but more for the local population, side streets, lanes and structures that lead on to Malioboro are as important as the street itself.

Bethesda Hospital (Rumah Sakit Bethesda), founded in 1899, is the oldest hospital in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is managed by Yayasan Kristen untuk Kesehatan Umum (Yakkum, lit. 'Christian Foundation for General Health').

Panti Rapih Hospital (Rumah Sakit Panti Rapih) is a private hospital in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It was founded in 1929 by five sisters from St. Carolus Borromeus. It is managed by Panti Rapih Foundation.

Lempuyangan Station (LPN) is a railway station located in Bausasran, Danurejan, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) east of Yogyakarta Station, 114 metres (374 ft) above sea level. The station is part of Operational Area VI Yogyakarta. It has 11 lines, including two straight tracks. Opened on 2 March 1872, Lempuyangan Station is used for passengers and local freight. The station has signage with travel information: train capacity and route details, such as the distance between stations. A screen displays train arrivals and departures, similar to an airport.

Duta Wacana Christian University (DWCU) or Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) is a private university in Yogyakarta, central of Java island, Indonesia. "Duta Wacana" in Sanskrit conveys an approximate meaning of being 'an ambassador for knowledge' or 'a messenger of the word'.According to Webometrics World Universities' Ranking on the Web 2007, DWCU is ranked at 89th place among Southeast Asian universities. DWCU is one of the 15 Indonesian universities in the SAP University Partnership Program.

Yogyakarta State University (or State University of Yogyakarta; Indonesian: Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, abbreviated as UNY) is a public state university established in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 1964. The university's main campus is located in Sleman Regency. UNY was previously part of a faculty at Gadjah Mada University which eventually formed a separate institution called the Yogyakarta Teacher Training and Education Institute (IKIP Yogyakarta). UNY has also been considered one of the best teacher educational institutions in Indonesia, along with the Indonesian University of Education and the State University of Malang.
