Babol (Persian: بابل; ) is a city in the Central District of Babol County, Mazandaran province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. Babol is divided into two metropolitan areas (under Iranian law).

Sheikh Hadi Rohani (Persian: شیخ حادی روحانی; 3 March 1924 – 13 October 1999) was an Iranian ayatollah. He represented the Supreme Leader of Iran for Mazandaran Province, as well as being the Friday Prayer Leader for Mazandaran. He also represented the people in Mazandaran for the first, second and third terms of the Assembly of Experts.

Babol University of Medical Sciences (MUBabol) (Persian: دانشگاه علوم پزشکی بابل, Danushgah-e 'lum-e Pezeshki-ye Babel) is a medical sciences university in the city of Babol, Mazandaran Province, Iran. The university was founded in 1983, and the first group of students beginning their studies in 1986. The university operates seven hospitals.

Babol Noshirvani University of Technology (BNUT), sometimes also referred to as Noshirvani Institute of Technology or NIT, is a public research university and Institute of Technology in Babol, Mazandaran Province in the north of Iran, 20 km (12 mi) south of the Caspian Sea. The university is an influential center for academic research in Iran, due to which it has been consistently ranked among the top schools in the country. BNUT is currently ranked 1st among all Iranian universities according to Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. THE has also ranked BNUT between 351st and 400th among world universities, 55th among the world's young universities, as well as 43rd among Asian universities.
