Cape Town, South Africa, has had two tramway networks forming part of its public transport arrangements. Both networks are now long closed.

Adderley Street is a street in Cape Town, South Africa. It is considered the main street of the central business district (downtown) of Cape Town. The Christmas lights, night markets, main train station and numerous shops and restaurants and office towers are on this thoroughfare.

The Mutual Building (Afrikaans: Mutual Gebou), in Cape Town, South Africa, was built as the headquarters of the South African Mutual Life Assurance Society, now the "Old Mutual" insurance and financial services company. It was opened in 1940, but before the end of the 1950s—less than 20 years later—business operations were already moving to another new office at Mutual Park in Pinelands (north east of the city centre); since then Old Mutual has become an international business and their present head office is in Johannesburg. The building is a fine example of art deco architecture and design, and it has many interesting internal features such as the banking hall, assembly room, directors' board room; external features include a dramatic ziggurat structure, prismoid (triangular) windows, and one of the longest carved stone friezes in the world. It has been said that it provides evidence of the colonial attitudes of the time, and the "ideals of colonial government promulgated by Rhodes in the late nineteenth century".The Mutual Building is now converted to residential use, although some parts of the building are used commercially. For example, the Banking Hall (which is now an events venue) and the retail shops that operate outside on the ground level.

The Fort de Goede Hoop ('Fort of Good Hope') was the first military building to be erected in what is now Cape Town. It was built in 1652, and was in use until 1674 when it was superseded by the Castle of Good Hope.

The South African Women's Open is a golf tournament. It was first played in 1988, is sanctioned by the Women's PGA of South Africa and is played as part of the Sunshine Ladies Tour. The tournament has been co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour 2012–2014 and from 2018.The title sponsor is Investec and the host sponsor is the City of Cape Town.

The C. H. Pearne Building is a commercial building situated in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Grand Parade is the main public square in Cape Town, South Africa. The square is surrounded by the Cape Town City Hall, the Castle of Good Hope, and the Cape Town railway station. The square is generally used as a market place and parking area but has also been the venue of major political rallies. It was the first place where Nelson Mandela addressed South Africans following his release from prison in 1990 and also following his election as president on 9 May 1994. The Grand Parade underwent extensive upgrades prior to being the venue for the 2010 World Cup FIFA Fan Fest in Cape Town.

Atterbury House (formerly known as Shell House) is a 417 ft (127 m) office skyscraper in Cape Town, South Africa. The 29 story building was completed in 1976. At the time it was completed, it became the 2nd tallest building in Cape Town, shorter than the 423 ft (129 m) 1 Thibault Square.The building has been used as home to several major organizations and companies, including The Metropolitan Health Group, Department of Public Works, and Planet Fitness. Department of Education, Department of Mineral and Energy Affairs, and the Premier are the former notable tenants of the building.On 12 June 2013, Ascension Properties bought the building for R341 million, equivalent to an acquisition yield of 8.7% at that time.

Koopmans-de Wet House is a former residence and current museum in Strand Street, Cape Town, South Africa. The house became part of the South African Museum in 1913 and was opened to the public on 10 March 1914. It was declared a National Monument under National Monuments Council legislation on 1 November 1940. It is the oldest house museum in South Africa.

Cape Town (Afrikaans: Kaapstad; [ˈkɑːpstat], Xhosa: iKapa), nicknamed the Mother City, is South Africa's oldest city. It serves as the country's legislative capital, being the seat of its Parliament. It is the country's second-largest city (after Johannesburg) and the largest in the Western Cape. The city is part of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. The city is known for its harbour, for its natural setting in the Cape Floristic Region, and for landmarks such as Table Mountain and Cape Point. In 2014, Cape Town was named the best place in the world to visit by both The New York Times and The Daily Telegraph.Located on the shore of Table Bay, the City Bowl area of Cape Town, is the oldest urban area in the Western Cape, with a significant cultural heritage. It was founded by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a supply station for Dutch ships sailing to East Africa, India, and the Far East. Jan van Riebeeck's arrival on 6 April 1652 established the VOC Cape Colony, the first permanent European settlement in South Africa. Cape Town outgrew its original purpose as the first European outpost at the Castle of Good Hope, becoming the economic and cultural hub of the Cape Colony. Until the Witwatersrand Gold Rush and the development of Johannesburg, Cape Town was the largest city in southern Africa. The city has a long coastline on the Atlantic Ocean, which includes False Bay, and extends to the Hottentots Holland mountains in the East. The Table Mountain National Park is within the city boundaries and there are several other nature reserves and marine protected areas within and adjacent to the city, protecting the diverse terrestrial and marine natural environment.

Cape Town City Hall is a large Edwardian building in Cape Town city centre which was built in 1905. It is located on the Grand Parade to the west of the Castle and is built from honey-coloured oolitic limestone imported from Bath in England.

The Cape Republic, also called the Cape of Good Hope or simply just the Cape, is a proposed state that encompasses the Western Cape, Northern Cape and a small part of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. The Cape Independence Party established itself in 2007 and wanted the Cape Republic to become a state independent of South Africa. The party is seeking a referendum so they can decide their future as an independent state. If the country would succeed South Africa, it would most likely border 3 countries; Namibia, South Africa and Botswana. Its coastline would stretch for about 1785 kilometers along the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Oceans. Its capitals would be Cape Town (de jure) and Kimberley (de facto). The country is more or less the same size as the Sovereign State of Good Hope, an unrecognised country, that was declared a country on 17 July 2018 by King Cornelius, of the Cape.
