Turkcell Kuruçeşme Arena was an open-air music venue located at Kuruçrşme neighborhood of Beşiktaş district in Istanbul, Turkey. It was also used as an outdoor cinema. The capacity of the arena was 17,000.

Parabolos was a town of ancient Thrace on the Bosphorus, inhabited during Roman times.Its site is located north of Defterdar Burnu in European Turkey.

Kuruçeşme is a neighborhood in Beşiktaş ilçe (district) of İstanbul, Turkey. It is on the European side of Bosphorous between the neighborhoods of Ortaköy and Arnavutköy.Historically, the neighborhood was called by various names such as Bithias or Bythias, Kalamos, Amopolos, Bytharia. It was located in ancient Thrace and inhabited through Roman times. The present name refers to a historical fountain from the 15th century mosque built by Osman Efendi, the chief tezkire poet of Ottoman sultan Mehmed II (reigned 1444–1446, 1451–1481), and means literally the "Dried fountain". The population of Kuruçeşme is 3,123. The popular concert venue Turkcell Kuruçeşme Arena was situated in Kuruçeşme, which is now the Mandarin Oriental Hotel due to open 2020. The Cemil Topuzlu Park in Kuruçeşme is the finish point of the annual Bosphorus Cross Continental Swim.

The Galatasaray Islet, (Turkish: Galatasaray Adası) is a small island on the Bosphorus strait off Kuruçeşme neighbourhood in Istanbul, Turkey, which is owned by Galatasaray Sports Club. Its location just north of the Bosphorus Bridge, with the view of the Bosphorus, makes it an attractive facility that houses bars, 6 restaurants and two swimming pools. Only 165 m (541 ft) far from the European coast, the islet is reachable by free ferry service. In Autumn 2002, construction has started to turn the Galatasaray Islet into one of the most prominent landmarks of the city. Totally rebuilt, it serves since July 2007 the Galatasaray community and Istanbulers as an entertainment and recreation centre.A fire broke out in the kitchen chimney on 4 October 2007 that burnt down two restaurants and damaged four other premises on the islet.In 2017, Nilhan Osmanoglu (Sultan Abdulhamid's granddaughter) stated she will claim ownership of the islet in future.

The Istanbul nightclub shooting (also known as Reina massacre in Turkey) was a mass shooting incident on 1 January 2017 around 01:15 am local time, in which a terrorist shot and killed 39 people and wounded 79 others at the Reina nightclub in the Ortaköy neighbourhood of Istanbul, Turkey, where hundreds had been celebrating New Year's Day. Uzbekistan-born Abdulkadir Masharipov was arrested in Istanbul on 17 January 2017. Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant claimed credit for his actions. The first hearing in the trial of Masharipov and 51 accused accomplices was held on 11 December 2017, and the next hearing was held on 26 March 2018.

The Battle of the Bosporus or Bosphorus took place on 13 February 1352 during the War of the Straits, between the fleet of the Republic of Genoa on one side and an allied fleet of the Republic of Venice, Kingdom of Aragon, and Byzantine Empire on the other. The battle was begun late during the day and was fought largely during the night in the narrows of the Bosporus amidst a storm, resulting in a confused fight with high casualties on both sides. The Genoese were left as the victors, having suffered fewer casualties and remaining in place while the allies withdrew. The battle forced the Byzantine emperor John VI Kantakouzenos to come to terms with Genoa, exiting the war and confirming the de facto independence of the Genoese colony of Galata from the Byzantine Empire.

The Hatice Sultan Mansion (Turkish: Hatice Sultan Yalısı), a historical yalı (English: waterside mansion) located at Bosporus in Ortaköy neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey and named after its original owner Hatice Sultan, is used today as a water sports club's building.The residence at Defterdarburnu (Defterdar Point) in Ortaköy was used as an orphanage and later as a primary school after the Ottoman dynasty was exiled following the foundation of the Turkish Republic.

The American Robert College of Istanbul (Turkish: İstanbul Özel Amerikan Robert Lisesi or Robert Kolej [ˈɾobæɾt koˈleʒ]), often shortened to Robert, RC, or RK, is a highly selective, independent, co-educational high school in Turkey. The F4, officially referred to as the F4 Boğaziçi Üni./Hisarüstü–Aşiyan funicular line (Turkish: F4 Boğaziçi Üni./Hisarüstü–Aşiyan füniküler hattı) is a 850 m (2,790 ft) long funicular railway, currently under construction, in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. When completed in June-2022, it will become the fourth funicular line in Istanbul as well as the longest, surpassing the F3 line by 100 m (330 ft). The F4 line will traverse a height difference of about 116.1 m (381 ft) and total travel time is estimated at 2 minutes and 30 seconds.The line will begin at Boğaziçi Üniversitesi station and head east to Aşiyan along the Bosporus. Connection to the M6 line at Boğaziçi Üniversitesi will be available. The entrance to Boğaziçi Üniversitesi station will be constructed next to the main entrance to Boğaziçi University.

The Esma Sultan Mansion (Turkish: Esma Sultan Yalısı), a historical yalı located on the Bosphorus in the Ortaköy neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey and named after its original owner Princess Esma Sultan, is used today as a cultural center after being redeveloped.

The Bosphorus Bridge (Turkish: Boğaziçi Köprüsü), known officially as the 15 July Martyrs Bridge (Turkish: 15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü) and unofficially as the First Bridge (Turkish: Birinci Köprü), is one of the three suspension bridges spanning the Bosphorus strait (Turkish: Boğaziçi) in Istanbul, Turkey, thus connecting Europe and Asia (alongside Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge). The bridge extends between Ortaköy (in Europe) and Beylerbeyi (in Asia). It is a gravity-anchored suspension bridge with steel towers and inclined hangers. The aerodynamic deck hangs on steel cables. It is 1,560 m (5,118 ft) long with a deck width of 33.40 m (110 ft). The distance between the towers (main span) is 1,074 m (3,524 ft) and the total height of the towers is 165 m (541 ft). The clearance of the bridge from sea level is 64 m (210 ft).Upon its completion in 1973, the Bosphorus Bridge had the fourth-longest suspension bridge span in the world, and the longest outside the United States (only the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge and Mackinac Bridge had a longer span in 1973). The Bosphorus Bridge remained the longest suspension bridge in Europe until the completion of the Humber Bridge in 1981, and the longest suspension bridge in Asia until the completion of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge (Second Bosphorus Bridge) in 1988 (which was surpassed by the Minami Bisan-Seto Bridge in 1989). Currently, the Bosphorus Bridge has the 40th-longest suspension bridge span in the world. After a group of soldiers took control and partially closed off the bridge during the military coup d'état attempt on 15 July 2016, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım proclaimed on 25 July 2016 the decision of the Cabinet of Turkey that the bridge will be formally renamed as the 15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü (July 15th Martyrs Bridge) in memory of those killed while resisting the attempted coup.
