Minaville, New York

Florida is a town south of the Mohawk River in Montgomery County, New York, United States. The population was 2,696 in the 2010 United States Census. The town was named after the state of Florida. It is located in the eastern end of Montgomery County and is south of the City of Amsterdam, which it borders.

WVTL (1570 AM) is a commercial radio station broadcasting a classic country radio format to the Mohawk Valley in the U.S. state of New York. It is licensed to Amsterdam, New York, and is owned by Roser Communications Network, Inc. WVTL's radio studios and offices are in Florida, New York. By day, WVTL is powered at 1,000 watts, non-directional. But 1570 AM is a Mexican clear channel frequency. So at night, to reduce interference, WVTL cuts its power to 204 watts. Programming is also heard on 250 watt FM translator 104.7 W284BZ.

Amsterdam Castle, also known as the Amsterdam Armory, located at 49 Florida Avenue at the intersection with Dewitt Street in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York was built in 1895 by Isaac G. Perry in the castellated Late Victorian style as a National Guard Armory for the 46th Separate Company of the New York Army National Guard. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.The armory was decommissioned in 1994 and purchased by the Diana family from the State of New York in 1995. In 2005 the Phemister family purchased the building, and continued the extensive renovation, utilizing green building techniques in addition to creating a new residence wing, a billiard room and three new bathrooms. The property is currently in use as a private residence, bed and breakfast and distribution facility. Of the 100 armories built in New York at the turn of the century, only several dozen are still in use as active armories, and Amsterdam Castle is the only armory converted into a private residence.

The Gray-Jewett House is a historic home located at 80 Florida Avenue in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York. It was built in 1890 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, brick, transitional Queen Anne / Colonial Revival–style residence on a limestone foundation. Also on the property is a carriage house / garage and ice house.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Samuel Sweet Canal Store is a historic commercial building located at 65 Bridge Street in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York. It was built c.1847 to service barges on the Erie Canal, as both a store and a forwarding warehouse for goods shipped across the Mohawk River.It is a three-story, rectangular building measuring approximately 30 feet by 70 feet built of rough cut, pale grey limestone and has a shallow pitched gable roof.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Chalmers Knitting Mills was a historic factory building located at Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York. It was built in 1913 and expanded in 1916. The original section was a four-story, brick building. The 1916 addition was a seven-story, steel frame and reinforced concrete building with concrete block. The addition was set at a near-right angle to the original section, giving the building an L-shaped footprint. The mill produced undergarments and remained in operation under the Chalmers name until the founders' death in 1959.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.The city of Amsterdam was awarded a $1.4 million Restore New York state grant to demolish the factory, which was razed in 2011. The state Department of Environmental Conservation provided $1.9 million to clean up the contamination.

The Mohawk Valley Gateway Overlook is a public pedestrian bridge in the City of Amsterdam, New York, connecting Riverlink Park on the north shore of the Mohawk River to Bridge Street on the south shore. The bridge is 30 feet wide and spans 511 feet (156 m) over the river.Construction on the bridge began in June 2014 and it was opened to the public in August 2016. It features numerous trees and flower plantings, as well as local historical and cultural information engraved into the decking and on plaques along the railings. It is the first bridge spanning over water to include live trees planted on its surface.The primary source of funding for the project was $16.5 million allocated in the Rebuild and Renew New York Transportation Bond Act of 2005. An additional $1.65 million for artistic elements and other amenities was provided by grants from New York State.The opening of the bridge was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 31, 2016. New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, Congressman Paul Tonko, State Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, Montgomery County Executive Matthew Ossenfort, Amsterdam Mayor Michael Villa, and New York State Canal Corporation directors William Finch and Brian Stratton, were speakers at the ceremony.The bridge, which won the 2016 Engineering Project of the Year from the Capital District Chapter of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers, a 2016 Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects, a Great Places in Upstate NY: Public Spaces Award from The American Planning Association and recognized in September 2019 as one of 13 "Great Places" awarded by the American Planning Federation (APA). is maintained by the City of Amsterdam and the New York State Canal Corporation.

The US Post Office-Amsterdam is a historic post office building located at 12-16 Church Street in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York. It was built in 1935–1936, and was designed by Louis A. Simon, the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department in the Colonial Revival style. It consists of a 2+1⁄2-story, symmetrically massed brick building with 1-story side wings and a large rear wing in the Colonial Revival style. The interior features a pair of 1939 murals by Henry Schnakenberg (1892–1970).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Amsterdam Free Library, located at 28 Church Street in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York was built from 1902 to 1903 and was designed by Albert W. Fuller in the Beaux-Arts style. It is a Carnegie library, the building of which was funded by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, who contributed $25,000. The library was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

The Temple of Israel is an historic former Reform Jewish congregation and synagogue located at 81⁄2 Mohawk Place in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York, in the United States. Rededicated as Templo Esperanza de Israel, the building has been used as a church since 2008.
