A major festival Hanuman Jayanti is held during the month of April. 1 km east from Jirat station is the historical place of Kaliagarh, the banks of river Bhagirathi was the 'Gang of Dacoits' settlement in Hooghly District. It has an ancient Kali and Shiva temple, which is the oldest temple in Jirat. The Shiva temple Mahakal Bhairav has sculptured terracotta tiles representing ships and scenes of Hindu Gods from the Ramayana.
