Keg Creek is a stream in Mills, Pottawattamie, Harrison and Shelby counties, in the U.S. state of Iowa.Keg Creek was named from the fact bootleggers rolled barrels of whisky in the creek in order to hide them from liquor control agents.

The Plattsmouth Bridge is a truss bridge over the Missouri River connecting Cass County, Nebraska, and Mills County, Iowa at Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Until 2014, it carried U.S. Highway 34 across the river. The bridge has seven spans, including the 402-foot (123 m) cantilevered through truss over the river's navigable channel. It is anchored by 201-foot (61 m) through spans, with two 203-foot (62 m) and two 104-foot (32 m) deck trusses over the eastern flood plain. The bridge has clearance of 14 feet 5 inches (4.39 m) and a width of 20 feet (6.1 m). The bridge was built in 1929, replacing a ferry that previously operated at the site. It was designed by the Omaha Structural Steel Works. In November 2006 it was decided to repair the bridge rather than build new bridges. Earlier plans had called for a new $42 million two-lane bridge and bypass of Plattsmouth. The new bridge would have been about 300 feet (91 m) south of the existing one. In November 2007, ownership of the bridge was transferred from the private Plattsmouth Bridge company to the public Plattsmouth Bridge Commission. Between April 21, 2008, and November 9, 2008, the bridge was closed as part of a federally funded bridge restoration. The bridge reopened November 9, 2008. As of 2011, the toll for cars was $1.25. In 2018, the toll for cars was raised to $1.75.In 2014, Highway 34 was rerouted to a new four-lane bridge farther upstream, north of the Platte River and above its junction with the Missouri.Structural repairs were completed in 2018, allowing the weight limit to be increased to 40,000 pounds (20 tons); the toll was increased to $1.75.

The Gottfried Gustav Pitz Barn in Cass County, Nebraska near Plattsmouth, Nebraska is a German banked barn built in 1883 by Gottfried Gustav Pitz. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.Pitz came to the United States from Germany in 1868, at age 19. He was a market gardener who brought produce into Plattsmouth and Omaha to sell.It is a one-and-a-half-story 16 by 16 feet (4.9 m × 4.9 m) plan barn, with a dry brick floor.It has also been known as the Pia-Muller Barn.It is located at 903 Livingston Rd.

The George E. Dovey House, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska in Cass County, Nebraska, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.Also known as The Heights, it was built for businessman George E. Dovey around 1887. It is Queen Anne in style. Queen Anne features include its "steeply-pitched roof with intersecting, asymmetrical cross gables, multiple variations of spindle work throughout both the interior and exterior, a one-story veranda along the front elevation and wraps around to the side, and a rounded tower on a prominent corner of the house that extends past the roofline." Inside it has its "original hardwood floors, pocket doors, elaborate woodwork, and period-appropriate wallpaper." It was deemed significant as a local example "of a Late Victorian home in the Queen Anne subtype."It was listed along with the Velosco V. Leonard House, also in Plattsmouth.It is located at 423 N 4th St. in Plattsmouth.

The Cass County Courthouse in Plattsmouth, Nebraska was built in 1891. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.It was designed by architect William Gray. Built of brick, terra cotta, and stone, it is a two-story building, 80 by 102 feet (24 m × 31 m) in plan. It has a tall (135 feet (41 m)) central clock tower, and four corner towers, each with steep hipped roofs and elaborate ornamentation.

The Plattsmouth Main Street Historic District, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The listing included 45 contributing buildings on 11 acres (4.5 ha).It is in the area of Main St. bounded by Avenue A, S. and N. 3rd St., 1st Ave. and S. and N. 7th St. in Plattsmouth.It includes: Cass County Courthouse (1892), 4th & Main Streets: brick, three-story 80 by 102 feet (24 m × 31 m) building with a tower at each corner and a central tower 135 feet (41 m). Designed by William Gray. Separately listed on the National Register. Excelsior Building (before 1885), 313 Main Street. Commercial Italianate.

The Velosco V. Leonard House, at 323. N 6th Street in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, was built in 1883 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. It was listed along with the George E. Dovey House, also in Plattsmouth.It was originally the home of photographer Velosco V. Leonard, whose studio is on the National Register within the Plattsmouth Main Street Historic District. The house was deemed significant "as a fine representation of a Late Victorian home in the Italianate style."

The Capt. John O'Rourke House, at 424 N 6th St. in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, was built in 1881. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.It is a two-story Italianate house, upon a full basement. It has a hipped roof with a deck with decorative iron cresting at the top of the roof. It has also been known as the Dugan House.It is also significant for association with Captain John O'Rourke, who was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1834. He served as Captain of the 11th Wisconsin Light Artillery Battery in the American Civil War.A "Captain John O'Rourke day" was declared by the City of Plattsburgh and held for the first time on June 10, 2006.

The Platte River () is a major river in the State of Nebraska. It is about 310 mi (500 km) long; measured to its farthest source via its tributary, the North Platte River, it flows for over 1,050 miles (1,690 km). The Platte River is a tributary of the Missouri River, which itself is a tributary of the Mississippi River which flows to the Gulf of Mexico. The Platte over most of its length is a broad, shallow, meandering stream with a sandy bottom and many islands—a braided stream. The Platte is one of the most significant tributary systems in the watershed of the Missouri, draining a large portion of the central Great Plains in Nebraska and the eastern Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Wyoming. The river valley played an important role in the westward expansion of the United States, providing the route for several major emigrant trails, including the Oregon, California, Mormon and Bozeman trails. The first Europeans to see the Platte were French explorers and fur trappers about 1714; they first called it the Nebraskier (Nebraska), a transliteration of the name given by the Otoe people, meaning "flat water". This expression is very close to the French words "rivière plate" ("flat river"), the probable origin of the name Platte River.

Papillion Creek is a 15.5-mile-long (24.9 km) tributary of the Missouri River in Nebraska. Its watershed lies in Washington, Douglas and Sarpy counties, including parts of the city of Omaha. The main branch of Papillion Creek is known as Big Papillion Creek. Some of the tributaries include Little Papillion Creek, Thomas Creek, Cole Creek, Northwest Branch of West Papillion Creek, West Papillion Creek, South Papillion Creek, and Mud Creek. Papillion Creek empties into the Missouri River south of Bellevue and just north of the mouth of the Platte River.Locals often refer to the creek as the "Papio Creek".Within its watershed lie Glenn Cunningham Lake, Standing Bear Lake, Zorinsky Lake and Wehrspann Lake at the Chalco Hills Recreation Area, which were created by the Army Corps of Engineers in the aftermath of extensive flooding in 1964 and 1965.
