H. C. Burnett House

The Idaho Botanical Garden (IBG) is a nonprofit botanical garden located on 50 acres (200,000 m2) at 2355 North Old Penitentiary Road, Boise, Idaho, United States. Until 1973 the site served as the Old Idaho State Penitentiary's farm and nursery. After the penitentiary was closed, the land lay dormant for more than a decade, and in 1984 the gardens were first created. The facility is operated by a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. To help fund the garden, an admission fee is charged for entry.

The Old Idaho Penitentiary State Historic Site was a functional prison from 1872 to 1973 in the western United States, east of Boise, Idaho. The first building, also known as the Territorial Prison, was constructed in the Territory of Idaho in 1870; the territory was seven years old when the prison was built, a full two decades before statehood. From its beginnings as a single cell house, the penitentiary grew to a complex of several distinctive buildings surrounded by a 17-foot-high (5.2 m) sandstone wall. The stone was quarried from the nearby ridges by the resident convicts, who also assisted in later constructions.Less than two miles (3 km) southeast of downtown Boise, the Old Idaho Penitentiary is operated by the Idaho State Historical Society; the elevation of the site is approximately 2,770 feet (845 m) above sea level.

Bishop Funsten House, also known as The Bishops' House, Old Bishops' House, and Bishop Rhea Center, is a 2+1⁄2-story Queen Anne style clergy house constructed in 1889 in Boise, Idaho, USA, that served as the rectory for St. Michael's Church and later St. Michael's Cathedral until 1960. The house was renovated and expanded during a 1900 remodel by architect John E. Tourtellotte.The house was listed as Bishop Funsten House on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Artesian Water Co. Pumphouse and Wells in Boise, Idaho, include a rectangular building, 27 feet by 50 feet, with battered walls that conform to the inward slope of two drill derricks which supported the original structure. The building houses two pumps that circulate geothermally heated water from wells installed in 1890. Natural hot water from the pumphouse was piped to residential and commercial customers beginning in the 1890s.

Olson City, Idaho was an early- and mid-20th century industrial park in southeast Boise named after L. G. Olson, president and general manager of Olson Manufacturing Co. The firm, founded in Ontario, Oregon 1910 but based in Boise since 1920, established a new manufacturing plant near the old sandstone quarry southeast of the Idaho State Penitentiary and Table Rock, 1 mi (1.609 km) east of the famous (and also long since defunct) Nanatorium, on the road to Arrowrock Dam. Situated by the Boise River, the company manufactured and serviced a wide range of industrial goods, including mining machinery, steelworks, oil equipment, irrigation infrastructure, storage tanks, ditchers, and the like. In 1940, when the Olson Company acquired the holdings of the venerable Boise Stone Company, a workman climbed up a chimney and painted in red paint "Olson City"; the campus and the company thus became conterminous. Not a company town, the Idaho Sunday Statesman often covered Olson City: around-the-clock war production in 1943 (which necessitated an additional railway spur line), Morrison-Knudsen's purchase of a controlling interest in (the company) in late 1943, and the employment of "feminine steelworkers" in May 1945. In November 1945 the Olson Co. took out a full-page ad in the statesman detailing the war material it had produced. On December 6, 1946 it was announced that the Olson Manufacturing Co. had bought the entire inventory and part of the machinery of Idaho Steel Products Company, which had been in existence for three years. The company fabricated steel lining for the Lucky Peak Dam diversion tunnel in 1950. The Omaha, Nebraska firm Gate City Steel bought "Olson City" sometime prior to January 1961, and by May 1962 the putative city, once known throughout the Northwest, was as a distinct entity was a matter of remembrance, having been subsumed by Bannock Steel Group. Little trace of it remains, to the extent that on contemporary maps part of the area is labeled "Vernon" (a small subdivision confusingly called Warm Springs Village). Several of the Ridge to Rivers foothill hiking trails thread the area, including the 3,828 ft (1.167 km) #14 Tram Trail.

The Edward Welch House in Boise, Idaho, is a 2-story Bungalow designed by Tourtellotte & Hummel and constructed in 1912. The house includes a prominent gable above an outset, 2-story bay to the right of a projecting porch. The porch features two square columns rising on either side above a shed roof over the main entry. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982.Although the NRHP nomination form refers to the Edward Welch House, Mr. Welch may not have owned the house nor lived there. Tene E. Welch petitioned for divorce from her husband, Edward Welch, in December 1911. In September 1912 Mrs. Welch announced plans to build the house, and she purchased lots 11 and 12 in block 2 of Boise's Warm Springs Addition where the house is located. In 1925 Mrs. Welch installed glass windows in the open-air porch. With the omission of Mr. Welch from documents and with Mrs. Welch listed as the property owner, it may be more accurate to refer to the house as the Tene E. Welch House.

The Moore-Cunningham House is a Queen Anne style mansion designed by architect James King and constructed in Boise, Idaho in 1892. The brick house is 6326 square feet and contains five bedrooms, 4.75 bathrooms, and features a wraparound veranda and an observation tower. It is the first house in Boise to use geothermal heating.Since its construction, the Moore-Cunningham House had been owned by family members and descendants of Christopher W. Moore, but in 2017 it was listed for sale at $2.4 million.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Table Rock is a mountain pillar in the western United States, located just south-east of downtown Boise, Idaho, in the foothills of the Boise Range of the Rocky Mountains. Its summit elevation of 3,650 feet (1,115 m) above sea level is 900 feet (275 m) above the city center. Located between downtown Boise and the foothills, table rock is a rock surface with multiple caves and ledges and overlooks the treasure valley area, which makes it a safe yet adventurous location for people of all ages.A prominent local landmark, it is a popular spot for day hiking from the Old State Penitentiary which offers access to views of the Treasure Valley, Owyhee Mountains, and the Boise Foothills themselves. Trailhead access and parking is behind the Bishop's House in the Penitentiary Historic District. The Idaho State Historical Society manages Table Rock Mesa. Table Rock is open to foot and bike traffic from sunrise to sunset. Please check trail conditions before planning your hike. A gate is installed on Table Rock Road to prevent vehicle access.An illuminated sixty-foot (18 m) white cross at its summit has been the subject of a lawsuit involving the separation of church and state (the cross itself stands on four square feet (0.4 m2) of land sold to the Jaycees for $100 in 1972, hence it stands on private property). The legality of the land sale to the Jaycees is disputed, as the land board meeting minutes, which discuss the sale, indicate that the sale was structured specifically to sell the land to the Jaycees for the purpose of insulating the cross from legal attack. The sale included language that allowed the Land Board to reject any offers, with the stated intent of rejecting offers other than from the Jaycees. The Table Rock Mesa was first quarried in the 1860s with much of the sandstone around Boise coming from Table Rock, including the Old Idaho Penitentiary. It continues to be an active quarry today. In 2016, illegal fireworks usage on Table Rock shortly after midnight on June 30 initiated a 2,500-acre (10 km2) wildfire.

Roosevelt School in Boise, Idaho, is a 2-story, brick and concrete elementary school designed by Wayland & Fennell and constructed by O.W. Allen in 1919. The building features Classical Revival design elements and a flat roof with a parapet above a horizontal course of decorative concrete.The 1919 design included eight classrooms, office, library, auditorium, and gymnasium. The building required 450,000 bricks. In 1946 a 4-room expansion was added to the east side, and a 3-room expansion was added in 1951.

Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park is a 28-acre (11 ha) urban park in the western United States, along the Boise River in Boise, Idaho. The park is managed by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department and includes picnic facilities, bocce courts, and a playground.The elevation of the park is approximately 2,700 feet (825 m) above sea level.

Joe Devine Airway Park was a minor league baseball stadium in the western United States, located in Boise, Idaho. Opened 83 years ago in 1939, the ballpark was the home of Boise's teams (Pilots, Yankees, Braves) in the Class C Pioneer League, which briefly moved to Class A in 1963, the final year of the Braves and the ballpark.Originally "Airway Park," it was the home of the Pilots and was a few blocks east of the Boise Airport, then located at the present-day campus of Boise State University. The city donated 11 acres (4.5 ha) of the western portion of Municipal Park (now Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park) in 1939 for the ballpark.North of the nearby Boise River, the elevation of the natural grass field was approximately 2,700 feet (820 m) above sea level, and it was aligned to the southeast; the recommended alignment (home plate to center field) is east-northeast. Opened with a seating capacity of 3,000, it was increased to 5,000 after World War II.
