St. Luke's Boise Medical Center

The C.C. Cavanah House in Boise, Idaho, is a 2-story Colonial Revival structure designed by Tourtellotte & Co. and built by W.D. Stevens in 1906 for Charles Cavanah. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982.The original design featured eight rooms, including four bedrooms, and a "broad porch" that was divided and enclosed sometime after construction. Tourtellotte & Co. intended an exterior of brick veneer with stone trimmings, but the NRHP nomination form described an exterior of clapboard siding below square shingles.Charles Cavanah served as Boise City Attorney, and in 1906 he was elected to represent Ada County in the Idaho State Legislature. Later he was appointed a federal district judge. In 1925 Charles Hummel designed a more stately house for Cavanah, the Charles C. Cavanah house (1925), also known as the Angell house, now part of the Warm Springs Avenue Historic District.

The W. Scott Neal House in Boise, Idaho, was a 1+1⁄2-story Queen Anne cottage designed by John E. Tourtellotte and constructed in 1897. The house was remodeled by Tourtellotte & Co. prior to 1910, and it was remodeled by Tourtellotte & Hummel in 1914. Tourtellotte & Hummel added a garage in 1916. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982. After its listing on the NRHP, the house either was moved or demolished in the 1990s to accommodate an expansion of St. Luke's Boise Medical Center.W. Scott Neal (January 21, 1862--May 25, 1925) was a farm loan and insurance agent who founded the W. Scott Neal Company, later H.E. Neal & Son. He and Emma (Krall) Neal occupied the W. Scott Neal House soon after their marriage in 1897 until 1924, when they moved to Seattle, Washington.

The William Whitehead House, also known as Hillview Ranch, in Boise, Idaho, is a 1+1⁄2-story Bungalow designed by Tourtellotte & Hummel and constructed in 1910. The house includes a cross gable, overhanging roof supported by decorative knee braces. Rafter tails are exposed under the eaves, and verge boards are decorated with half-moon cutouts. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 2016.Pharmacist William S. Whitehead arrived in Boise in 1889, and the Whitehead & Boomer Pharmacy was located in that year in a building owned by John Lemp. Whitehead purchased a 40-acre parcel and operated a fruit orchard on the Hillview Ranch property, although the current site is 1.5 acres.

The St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Boise, Idaho is a historic Baptist church founded in 1909, and its building at 124 Broadway Avenue which was built in 1921. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.In 1982 it was deemed "historically significant as one of two churches still in existence in Idaho with a predominantly black congregation", when the congregation was about 150. The church was built by church members, including William Riley Hardy, its first pastor. It is described as "a vernacular structure with bungalow elements."

The Alexander House is a Queen Anne style house built in Boise, Idaho, in 1897. The house was constructed for Moses Alexander the year he became mayor of Boise. Alexander later became governor of Idaho.According to Boise Parks and Recreation, construction of the Alexander House was inspired when "the mayor’s wife, Helena, had seen a picture in the newspaper with floor plans for a two-story house with many gables. Following these guides, two carpenters managed to construct the wood-frame building." On April 10, 1897, the Coeur d'Alene Press included an illustration and a floor plan for a house similar to the Alexander House.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and in 1977 the Alexander House became the property of the State of Idaho.

The Reclamation Service Boise Project Office in Boise, Idaho, is a 2-story, L-shape Bungalow with entry at a porch on the inside corner. Finished in 1912, the building is constructed of brick with corbels separating basement, first, and second floors, and it includes segmented arch window openings. The low pitched roof includes four dormers.The building was constructed by the Whiteway-Lee Co., and it features American Craftsman details uncommon to public buildings at the time. C. Herbert Lee had been an architect in the office of Tourtellotte & Co., and he had supervised construction of the 1907 administration building at the University of Idaho. But the Reclamation Office design is attributed to F.E. Weymouth, supervising engineer for the U.S. Reclamation Service. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Assay Office is a historic building at 210 Main Street in Boise, Idaho. It is significant for its role in the history of mining in Idaho, and was the first major federal government building in the Idaho Territory. During the first half of the 1860s, Idaho's gold production was the third highest in the nation. Due to the difficulty of transporting bulky, heavy ores the long distance to the nearest U.S. Mint in San Francisco, there was great demand for an assaying office in Idaho. Gold and other precious metals are not mined in a pure form. In order to place a value on an ore, the precious metal must be separated from the impurities. This is what an assay office does.

The St. Alphonsus' Hospital Nurses' Home and Heating Plant/Laundry in Boise, Idaho, are two buildings designed by architects Tourtellotte and Hummel in 1920 and completed in 1921. Included are a 4-story, brick and sandstone residence for nurses and a 1-story, brick and sandstone heating plant which supplied not only the residence but St. Alphonsus Hospital (demolished) and St. Teresa's Academy (demolished). The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.The nursing staff at St. Alphonsus Hospital was affiliated with Sisters of the Holy Cross, and many nurses had taken vows of celibacy and poverty, hence a need for residential provisions.

The Kieldson Double House in Boise, Idaho, is a 2-story, brick and stone building with a Renaissance Revival facade containing late medieval elements. The duplex was designed by Tourtellotte & Co. and constructed in 1903. It features two prominent, beveled bays each on either side of a common porch. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982.Louis P. Kieldson (b. March 29, 1865, Denmark) was a brick and stonemason who arrived in Boise City in 1891. Kieldson was employed as a contractor on many local building projects, including the Idanha Hotel, Carnegie Library, and Garfield School. In 1904 he constructed his own house adjacent to the Kieldson Double House on Jefferson Street, although the Kieldson House is not listed on the NRHP. Kieldson later served on the Boise City Council.

St. Alphonsus Hospital was a three-story, French Renaissance style building in Boise, Idaho, designed by architect J.K. Hollowell in 1893. Completed in 1894, the hospital was part of a small group of buildings constructed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise that included St. Teresa's Academy (demolished). Located at Fifth Street between State and Washington streets, the hospital building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, soon after it became slated for demolition in 1976. It was delisted shortly thereafter.

The Idaho Supreme Court is the state supreme court of Idaho and is composed of the chief justice and four associate justices. The decisions of the Idaho Supreme Court are binding on all other Idaho state courts. The only court that may reverse or modify its decisions is the Supreme Court of the United States.
