VTR (telecom company)

CNN Chile is a Chilean pay television news channel launched on 4 December 2008. It was originally a joint venture between VTR Chile and Warner Bros. Discovery. The channel is based in Santiago, Chile.It is the local version of popular TV news channel CNN, which had previously shown interest in the Chilean market when it covered the 2005 presidential elections through CNN en Español.

The Jardín Botánico Chagual is a 33.9-hectare Chilean botanical garden in the process of development, focusing on the preservation of plants native to the Mediterranean climatic zone of Chile (between 30° and 38° S latitude). It forms part of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas del Estado (SNASPE; National System of Protected Areas of the Country) and of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI). It is meant to complement the collections of native plants in the national botanical gardens of Viña del Mar and Valdivia.

The Bicentenario Park (Spanish: Parque Bicentenario, literally "Bicentennial Park"), is one of the largest parks of the city of Santiago, Chile. The park was designed by the Chilean architect Teodoro Fernández after winning the official design competition in 1998, and the first phase opened its doors in 2007.

The 1647 Santiago earthquake struck Santiago, Chile on the night of 13 May (22:30 local time, 02:30 UTC on 14 May) and is said to have brought virtually every building in the city to the ground. The earthquake was felt throughout the so-called Captaincy General of Chile, an administrative territory of the Spanish Empire. The maximum felt intensity was XI (Extreme) on the Mercalli intensity scale and there were about a thousand casualties.

The Library of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean was established in 1948 as part of the creation of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean; this coincided with the inauguration of the Economic Commission for Latin America by the United Nations, in support of its mandate in the region. The Library has four branches: the Hernán Santa Cruz Library in Santiago, the Centro de Recursos de Información y Distribución de Documentos in México D.F., the Raúl Prebisch Library in Brasilia and the Caribbean Knowledge Management Centre in Port of Spain. These four form the ECLAC Library. The library contains 109,000 books, 1,400 scientific journals and 44,200 digital documents.

Recoleta is a commune of Chile located in the north of Santiago Province. It belongs to the Santiago Metropolitan Region which is the capital and seat of the executive branch. It is south of Huechuraba, east of Independencia and Conchalí, west of Providencia and Vitacura, and north of Santiago. The Mapocho River and the San Cristóbal Hill form the natural boundary on the south and east sides, respectively, of Recoleta.

Titanium La Portada is an office building in Santiago, Chile. Located in the capital's high-end financial district of El Golf, it is the second tallest skyscraper in the country. Construction began in January 2007, and was completed in January 2010. It was surpassed in height by the then unfinished Gran Torre Santiago in November 2010. It was officially inaugurated on May 3, 2010. The architects are Abraham Senerman and Andrés Weil.

Sanhattan, a portmanteau of Santiago and Manhattan, is the popular ironic sobriquet given to Chile's capital Santiago's high-end financial district. It is located to the northeast of the capital, in the western end of the Las Condes commune between the Mapocho River and the Américo Vespucio avenue, in the barrios known as El Bosque Norte and El Golf. The main street crossing Sanhattan is Avenida Apoquindo. A narrower definition puts Sanhattan between Andrés Bello and Vitacura avenues, from their intersection down to Nueva Los Leones avenue. The area is home to many new and very expensive buildings housing offices, restaurants, hotels, shopping centers and banks. Two of the tallest buildings in South America are located there: Titanium La Portada, 55 stories and 194 m tall, and Gran Torre Santiago, at 300 m tall and 63 stories, located in the neighboring Providencia commune.

Zapadores is an underground metro station on the Line 2 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is the last northern station of the Line 2 prior to reaching the Vespucio Norte terminus. The station was opened on 21 December 2006 as part of the extension of the line from Einstein to Vespucio Norte.

Dorsal is an underground metro station on the Line 2 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. Along with Vespucio Norte and Zapadores, it was opened on 21 December 2006 Christmas Eve as part of an subway expansion master plan.

Torre de la Industria (Spanish for Industry Tower) is a high-rise office building in the Las Condes district of Santiago, Chile. Built between 1993 and 1994, the tower stands at 120 m (390 ft) tall with 32 floors and is the current 8th tallest building in Chile.
