Collon (Irish: Collann) is a village and townland in the south west corner of County Louth, Ireland, on the N2 national primary road. The village is home to the Cistercian Abbey of New Mellifont, and to Collon House, the ancestral home of the Foster family.

Mellifont Abbey (Irish: An Mhainistir Mhór, literally 'the Big Monastery'), was a Cistercian abbey located close to Drogheda in County Louth, Ireland. It was the first abbey of the order to be built in Ireland. In 1152, it hosted the Synod of Kells-Mellifont. After its dissolution in 1539, the abbey became a private manor house. This saw the signing of the Treaty of Mellifont in 1603 and served as William of Orange's headquarters in 1690 during the Battle of the Boyne. Today, the ruined abbey is a national monument of Ireland and accessible to the public. The English language name for the monastery, 'Mellifont', comes from the Latin phrase Melli-fons, meaning 'Font of Honey'.

Monknewtown (Irish: Baile Nua na Manach, meaning 'new town of the monks'), historically called Rathenskin, is a townland 3 km east of Slane in County Meath, Ireland. It stands on the right bank of the Mattock River, which feeds several historic watermills nearby and which forms approximately the townland's eastern boundary with Keerhan and Sheepgrange townlands in County Louth. Neighbouring townlands to the south are Balfeddock, Knowth, and Crewbane, to the west Cashel, Mooretown, and Knockmooney. The northern boundary of Monknewtown with Kellystown is formed by a tributary of the Mattock River, while the southern boundary is formed by the N51 road. Other than the latter, only minor roads traverse the townland, among them L5606 from west to east. A ford crosses the Mattock River in the northeastern part of the townland, connecting Monknewtown with Keerhan.Monknewtown also stands on the northern edge of the Neolithic monument complex and World Heritage Site of Brú na Bóinne which includes the famous site of Newgrange. Two Neolithic sites connected with Monknewtown are the nearby "ritual pond" and a henge. The pond probably dates to the later Neolithic, being a later addition to the complex, and consists of a 2 meter high earth bank that creates a 30-meter diameter enclosure that is filled with water. The site may have played a preliminary or final role in prehistoric activities connected with the tombs and other ritual sites to the south.

Townley Hall is a Georgian country house which stands in parkland at Tullyallen some 5 km west of Drogheda, County Louth in the Republic of Ireland. It was designed by Irish architect Francis Johnston for the Townley Balfour family and built between 1794 and 1798. The house is 27 metres (89 feet) square, built in local stone with simple neoclassical lines, broken only by a Doric portico. The interior is dominated by a spiral staircase in a domed rotunda. The building replaced a previous house which once stood some 100 metres (330 feet) to the north of the present building

Townleyhall passage grave is a chamber tomb located around 2 km north of Dowth tomb. It is part of the megalithic complex of Brú na Bóinne in County Louth, Ireland. It is located outside the World Heritage Site core area but (just) inside the buffer zone.

Tinure (Irish: Tigh an Iúir, meaning 'house of the yew') is a small village and townland in the parish of Monasterboice, County Louth, Ireland. The official spelling of the village's name is Tinure (which is derived from Tigh an Iúir) however it is also sometimes referred to as "Tenure". Tinure is predominantly rural in character, although there has been some new housing constructed in recent years. It falls within the scope of Drogheda Town, to its south, and Dunleer Town, to its north, which provide employment for many of the village's residents. There is a small business park located on the northern edge of the village, with a number of services firms on site. The village population increased from 296 inhabitants as of the 2002 census, to 464 as of the 2016 census. The population is almost evenly distributed between male and female, male at 230 and female at 234. This growth can be largely attributed to its proximity to the M1 motorway, which has improved transport linkages to the locality.Tinure is known for its Roman Catholic Church, The Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, which was constructed in 1894. It is located on the main junction of the five roads that intersect the village.

Muiredach's High Cross is a high cross from the 10th or possibly 9th century, located at the ruined monastic site of Monasterboice, in County Louth, Ireland. There are two other high crosses at Monasterboice; in local terms Muiredach's cross is also known as the South Cross. Muiredach's cross is the most impressive surviving example of early medieval Irish stonework, and the crosses at Monasterboice have been said to be Ireland's greatest contribution to European sculpture.

The Monasterboice (Irish: Mainistir Bhuithe) ruins are the remains of an early Christian monastic settlement in County Louth in Ireland, north of Drogheda. The ruins are a national monument of Ireland and also give their name to the local village.

Glen Emmets GFC is a Gaelic Football club located in Tullyallen, County Louth, Ireland, close to the town of Drogheda, which fields teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Founded in 1958, the club competes in the Louth Intermediate Championship and Division 2 of the county football Leagues. Ray Lambe is the manager of the club's senior team.

Knowth (; Irish: Cnóbha) is a prehistoric monument overlooking the River Boyne in County Meath, Ireland. It comprises a large passage tomb surrounded by 17 smaller tombs, built during the Neolithic era around 3200 BC. It contains the largest assemblage of megalithic art in Europe. Knowth is part of the Brú na Bóinne complex, a World Heritage Site that also includes the similar passage tombs of Newgrange and Dowth. After its initial period of use, Knowth gradually became a ruin, although the area continued to be a site of ritual activity in the Bronze Age. During the early Middle Ages, a royal residence was built on top of the great mound, which became the seat of the Kings of Knowth or Northern Brega. Archaeologist George Eogan led an extensive investigation of the site from the 1960s to 1980s, and parts of the monument were reconstructed.

The Battle of the Boyne (Irish: Cath na Bóinne IPA: [ˈkah n̪ˠə ˈbˠoːn̠ʲə]) was a battle in 1690 between the forces of the deposed King James II, and those of King William III who, with his wife Queen Mary II (his cousin and James's daughter), had acceded to the Crowns of England and Scotland in 1689. The battle took place across the River Boyne close to the town of Drogheda in the Kingdom of Ireland, modern-day Republic of Ireland, and resulted in a victory for William. This turned the tide in James's failed attempt to regain the British crown and ultimately aided in ensuring the continued Protestant ascendancy in Ireland. The battle took place on 1 July 1690 O.S. William's forces defeated James's army, which consisted mostly of raw recruits. Although the Williamite War in Ireland continued until the signing of the Treaty of Limerick in October 1691, James fled to France after the Boyne, never to return.

Tullyallen (Irish: Tulaigh Álainn, meaning 'beautiful hill') is a village, civil parish and townland (of 224 acres) 6 km north-west of the town of Drogheda in County Louth, Ireland. It is in the historic Barony of Ferrard. It is located in the historical Boyne Valley, in the Catholic parish of Mellifont (named after the nearby Mellifont Abbey); it is also close to Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth burial mounds, Monasterboice monastery, and to the Battle of the Boyne site.
