Battle of the Boyne

The Boyne Obelisk, also known as King William's Obelisk, was an obelisk located in Oldbridge, near Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland.

Glen Emmets GFC is a Gaelic Football club located in Tullyallen, County Louth, Ireland, close to the town of Drogheda, which fields teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Founded in 1958, the club competes in the Louth Intermediate Championship and Division 2 of the county football Leagues. Ray Lambe is the manager of the club's senior team.

Oldbridge (Irish: An Seandroichead) is a townland near Drogheda in County Meath, Ireland. The area is home to the Boyne Navigation, the Battle of the Boyne Interpretive Centre and the southern half of the Mary McAleese Boyne Valley Bridge (which carries the M1 motorway).

Tullyallen (Irish: Tulaigh Álainn, meaning 'beautiful hill') is a village, civil parish and townland (of 224 acres) 6 km north-west of the town of Drogheda in County Louth, Ireland. It is in the historic Barony of Ferrard. It is located in the historical Boyne Valley, in the Catholic parish of Mellifont (named after the nearby Mellifont Abbey); it is also close to Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth burial mounds, Monasterboice monastery, and to the Battle of the Boyne site.

Dowth Hall is a Georgian country house and estate near Dowth in County Meath, Ireland. Built in 1760 for the Netterville family, the 420 acre estate occupies a large part of the archaeological site which makes up the Brú na Bóinne UNESCO World Heritage Site landscape encompassing Dowth passage tomb. In July 2018 it was announced that a megalithic passage tomb had been rediscovered directly underneath the house during renovations of the house and gardens. In 2023 the house was purchased by the Irish Government for €11m.

Townley Hall is a Georgian country house which stands in parkland at Tullyallen some 5 km west of Drogheda, County Louth in the Republic of Ireland. It was designed by Irish architect Francis Johnston for the Townley Balfour family and built between 1794 and 1798. The house is 27 metres (89 feet) square, built in local stone with simple neoclassical lines, broken only by a Doric portico. The interior is dominated by a spiral staircase in a domed rotunda. The building replaced a previous house which once stood some 100 metres (330 feet) to the north of the present building

Townleyhall passage grave is a chamber tomb located around 2 km north of Dowth tomb. It is part of the megalithic complex of Brú na Bóinne in County Louth, Ireland. It is located outside the World Heritage Site core area but (just) inside the buffer zone.

Donore (Irish: Dún Uabhair, meaning "fort of pride"), historically Dunower, is a small village in County Meath, Ireland. It lies near Drogheda on the border between County Meath and County Louth, in the Boyne Valley on the road between Drogheda and the Brú na Bóinne heritage site. During the late 17th century, the village was used as a defensive position by the Jacobite army of King James II against King William III during the Battle of the Boyne (1690). The Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre is located in the restored 18th century Oldbridge House, which is on the battle site, approximately 3 km north of Donore. The village more than doubled in population in the early 21st century, growing from 334 inhabitants as of the 2002 census to 760 as of the 2016 census. Donore now has a pub and restaurant, shops, a take-away and a hairdresser. The local Gaelic football team is called St Mary's. St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, which is in the center of Donore village, was built between c.1840.

The Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre (Irish: [ˈbˠɾˠuː n̪ˠə ˈbˠoːn̠ʲə]; 'Valley of the Boyne' often, though incorrectly, rendered 'Palace of the Boyne') is the starting point for all visits to the monuments of the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Brú na Bóinne, notably the passage graves of Newgrange and Knowth. It is located eight kilometers west of Drogheda in County Meath, Ireland.

Brú na Bóinne (Irish: [ˈbˠɾˠuː n̪ˠə ˈbˠoːn̠ʲə], "mansion or palace of the Boyne"), also called the Boyne Valley tombs, is an ancient monument complex and ritual landscape in County Meath, Ireland, located in a bend of the River Boyne. It is one of the world's most important Neolithic landscapes, comprising at least ninety monuments including passage tombs, burial mounds, standing stones and enclosures. The site is dominated by the passage tombs of Newgrange (Sí an Bhrú), Knowth (Cnogbha) and Dowth (Dubhadh), built during the 32nd century BC. Together these have the largest assemblage of megalithic art in Europe. The associated archaeological culture is called the "Boyne culture". Brú na Bóinne is also an important archaeoastronomical site; several of the passage tombs are aligned with the winter solstice and equinoxes. The area continued to be a site of ritual and ceremonial activity in the later Bronze Age and Iron Age. In Irish mythology, the tombs are said to be portals to the Otherworld and dwellings of the deities, particularly The Dagda and his son Aengus. They began to be studied by antiquarians in the 18th century, and archaeological excavations began in the 20th century, when some of the passage tombs underwent restoration. Since 1993, the site has been a World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO as "Brú na Bóinne - Archaeological Ensemble of the Bend of the Boyne".

Oliver Plunketts GFC is a GAA club located in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. From its base on the Slane road, the club serves the Mell Parish in West Drogheda and fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. In 1957 the club won the Louth Senior Football Championship, defeating St Mary's of Ardee. They went on to complete the League and Championship double that year by beating Dundalk Young Irelands in the final of the Cardinal O'Donnell Cup.Oliver Plunketts currently compete in the Louth Junior Championship and Division 3A of the county football Leagues, after being relegated from the Intermediate grade in 2022. Emmet Kelleher is team manager for 2023.

St Oliver's Community College is a coeducational secondary school in Drogheda, Republic of Ireland. Founded as a vocational school, it has since expanded to offer other mainstream subjects but still maintains a focus on industrial arts.
