Kanakadurga Flyover

Akkanna Madanna caves are a group of rock-cut Hindu cave temples in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. Dated to mid 7th-century and dedicated to Shiva, they were excavated by the Eastern Chalukya dynasty. They consist of the upper (larger) and lower caves. The upper cave is better preserved, and has an important 7th-century inscription.To the immediate north of the lower caves is a small park with inscribed pillars and recovered ruins of lost Hindu temples. The Akkanna Madanna caves are protected monuments of national importance, managed by the Archaeological Survey of India.

The Prakasam Barrage stretches 1223.5 m across the Krishna River connecting Vijayawada, NTR and Mangalagiri Tadepalle Municipal Corporation, Guntur districts in Andhra Pradesh, India. The barrage serves also as a road bridge and spans over a lake. The three canals associated with the barrage run through the city of Vijayawada, crossing it and giving it a Venetian appearance. The idea of constructing a dam across the river Krishna dates back to 1798. It began in the hands of captain Buckle and was revised in 1839 and 1841 by Captain Best and Captain Lake. After the endorsement of Major Cotton, the board of Directors of the East India Company approved it on 5 January 1850. The dam was started in 1852 and completed in 1855. It cost Rs 1.75 crore in those days and seems to have paid the then government a return of 18%. It used to irrigate 7 lakh acres. Later, the State Government constructed a bridge that was named after Tanguturi Prakasam, the first Chief Minister of Andhra (a state formed in 1953, which later became Andhra Pradesh in 1956 after the merger of Telugu speaking districts of former Hyderabad State). Completed in 1957, it helps to irrigate over 1.2 million acres of land. This barrage also supplies water to Buckingham canal which was initially constructed as an inland navigation canal but was later used as an irrigation water supply canal. One of the first major irrigation projects of South India, the Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada was completely successful in its mission. Andhra Pradesh largely owes its rich agriculture to the Prakasam Barrage as the project facilitated the irrigation of large tracts of farmland. The Barrage provides views of the lake. It has become a tourist attraction of Vijayawada. On 13th Feb-2019 Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation to construct a new barrage named Vykuntapuram Barrage on the Krishna River nearly 25 km upstream of Prakasam Barrage.

The Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS), also known as the Telugu Satavahana Prayana Pranganam, is a bus station in Vijayawada, situated on the southern side of the main city and adjacent to the Krishna River. It is owned by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). This Bus station is spread over an area of 28 acres of land and it is one of the largest Bus station in India preceding by Mofussil Bus Terminus in Chennai (36.5 acres) and following by Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in Hyderabad (20 acres). It consists of four blocks, two main blocks serving departure terminal with 48 platforms and arrival terminal with 12 platforms, one RTC House serving as a NTR Administrative block headquarters of APSRTC and one block namely City Bus Port serving city buses. There are four entrances to the bus station, each serving as entrance and exit. The entries are from North Side (City Bus Port), East Side (Main entrances) and two on South Side (in front of NH-65 in Krishna Lanka).

Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency is one of the twenty-five lok sabha constituencies of Andhra Pradesh in India. It comprises eight assembly segments and belongs to NTR district.

The Gandhi Hill (elevation 500 ft (150 m)) is a hill in Vijayawada, situated behind the Vijayawada railway station in the Tarapet area. A Gandhi Memorial, built on this hill, is the first in the country to have seven stupas. The hill is also popularly known by the name of Gandhi. The hill was formerly known as ORR hill.

Electric Loco Shed, Vijayawada is a motive power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for electric locomotives of the Indian Railways, located at Vijayawada of the South Central Railway zone in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Vijayawada Junction railway station (station code:- BZA) is an Indian Railways station in Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh, categorized as a Non-Suburban Grade-2 (NSG-2) station in Vijayawada railway division. Situated at the junction of Howrah–Chennai and New Delhi–Chennai main lines, it is the fourth busiest railway station in the country after Howrah Junction, Kanpur Central and New Delhi. The station serves about 1.40 lakh passengers, over 190 express and 170 freight trains every day. It is one of the major railway junctions of the Indian Railways and is a nationally important halt.

Kanaka Durga Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Kanaka Durga. The deity in this temple is also popularly referred as Kanaka Durga. The temple is located in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India on the Indrakeeladri Hills on the banks of Krishna River. Kaalika Purana, Durgaa Sapthashati and other Vedic literature have mentioned about Goddess Kanaka Durga on the Indrakeelaadri and have described the deity as Swayambhu, (self-manifested) in Triteeya Kalpa.

The Bapu Museum (formerly: Victoria Jubilee Museum) is an archaeological museum, located at M. G. Road of Vijayawada. It was renamed in the memory of the renowned film director, illustrator, cartoonist and author Bapu. The museum is maintained by the Archaeological department and has large collection of sculptures, paintings and artifacts of Buddhist and Hindu relics, with some of them as old as 2nd and 3rd Centuries. The structure of building is an Indo-European style of architectural and is more than a hundred years old structure.

The Kanaka Durga Varadhi is a beam bridge Spanning Across Krishna River in between Mangalagiri Tadepalle Municipal Corporation and Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the Third Longest Road Bridge in Andhra Pradesh, After Bridges on Godavari river, Whereas the Longest of all bridges is in Andhra Pradesh Capital Region. Its construction was followed by old barrage named Prakasam Barrage, which serves the transportation needs of Vijayawada.Previously, the Bridge was 2,200 metres long, Consisting of 47 Spans of 34 M in a straight Line without any Curves. It was later Extended under the Project of expanding NH16 from Vijayawada to Chennai. Now the bridge is 2.6 Kilometers Long with a Curve Consisting of a Flyover that intersects NH65, which connects Machilipatnam with Hyderabad. It was 27th largest bridge in India.

Vijayawada West Assembly constituency is a constituency in NTR district of Andhra Pradesh that elects representatives to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in India. It is one of the seven assembly segments of the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.Vellampalli Srinivas is the current MLA of the constituency, having won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from YSR Congress Party. As of 2019, there are a total of 232,555 electors in the constituency. The constituency was established in 1967, as per the Delimitation Orders (1967).
