The Simplon Valley or Divedro Valley (German: Simplontal, Italian: Val Divedro) is a valley of the Alps, situated between the Pennine and the Lepontine ranges. The valley is drained by the Diveria or Chrummbach, a tributary of the Toce at Crevoladossola. The Simplon Valley is the only valley of Valais located south of the main chain of the Alps. The highest mountains in the valley are the Weissmies (4,017 m), the Lagginhorn (4,010 m) and the Fletschhorn (3,993 m), all in the Pennine Alps. On the other side (Lepontine Alps), the highest summit is Monte Leone (3,553 m). The most important pass in the valley is the Simplon, connecting Brig to Domodossola. The valley is politically divided between Switzerland and Italy. The upper western part belongs to the Swiss canton of Valais and the lower eastern part belongs to the Italian region of Piedmont. The international border runs from the Camoscellahorn to Monte Leone, reaching an altitude of 800 metres at valley floor. The main localities are Simplon, Gondo (Switzerland), Iselle, Trasquera and Varzo (Italy).

The Gondo Gold Mine was the largest gold mine in Switzerland. The mine is located in the south of the canton of Valais near the Italian border at over 1200 m above sea level. In its heyday up to 500 men worked here, while the municipality of Gondo itself had only 100 inhabitants.

The Punta Valgrande is a mountain of the Lepontine Alps, located on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The west side belongs to the Swiss canton of Valais and the east side belongs to the Italian region of Piedmont. The closest locality is Gondo, on the south side.

The Camoscellahorn (also known as Pizzo Pioltone) is a mountain of the Pennine Alps, located on the Swiss-Italian border. The closest locality is Gondo in the Swiss Val Divedro.

The Seehorn (2,439 m) is a mountain of the Swiss Pennine Alps, overlooking Gondo in the canton of Valais. Unlike most other mountains in Valais, the Seehorn lies on the south side of the Alps, in the southern Simplon Valley. From the Furggu pass (1,872 m) a trail leads to its summit.

Zwischbergen is a municipality in the district of Brig in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Iselle di Trasquera railway station (Italian: Stazione di Iselle di Trasquera) serves the village of Iselle and municipality of Trasquera, in the region of Piedmont, northwestern Italy. Opened in 1906, the station is at the southern portal of the Simplon tunnel, on the Simplon line, between Brig, Switzerland and Domodossola, Italy. It is also the border station between Italy and Switzerland. All rail services to and from the station are operated by BLS AG, a Swiss company.

The Cima Verosso (2,444 m) is a mountain of the Pennine Alps, located west of Bognanco in the Italian region of Piedmont. It lies on the range east of the Portjengrat between the Val Divedro and the Valle di Bognanco. Its summit lies just east of the watershed and border with the Swiss canton of Valais. On its western (Swiss side), the mountain overlooks the lake Tschawinersee.

Tschawinersee is a lake in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. Located at an elevation of 2174 m, its surface area is 6.2 ha.

Pizzo Straciugo is a mountain of the Pennine Alps, located on the border between Switzerland and Italy. It lies east of the Portjengrat, on the range between the Val Divedro (Valais) and Domodossola (Piedmont).

Varzo railway station (Italian: Stazione di Varzo) is a railway station in the comune of Varzo, in the Italian region of Piedmont. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Simplon line of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana.

Varzo is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) northeast of Turin and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northwest of Verbania, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,209 and an area of 94.4 square kilometres (36.4 sq mi). Varzo borders the following municipalities: Baceno, Bognanco, Crevoladossola, Crodo, Grengiols (Switzerland), Ried-Brig (Switzerland), Trasquera, Zwischbergen (Switzerland). Varzo is also known because of the Alpe Veglia Natural Park.
