Anacaea or Anakaia (Ancient Greek: Ἀνακαία) was a deme of ancient Attica, of the phyle of Hippothontis, sending three delegates to the Athenian Boule.Its site is tentatively located near modern Mygdaleza.

Semachidae or Semachidai (Ancient Greek: Σημαχίδαι) was a deme of ancient Athens, in the district of Epacria.The site of Semachidae is tentatively located near modern Vredou.

The Marathon Dam is a gravity dam on the Charadros River, near its junction with the Varnavas Stream, 8 km (5 mi) west of Marathon and 45 km (28 mi) northeast of Athens in Greece. The dam created Lake Marathon for the primary purpose of municipal water supply. Constructed between 1926 and 1929, it was the sole supplier of water to Athens until 1959. The dam is often cited for its role in the modernization of Greece and the first recorded case of seismic activity associated with reservoir inundation. It was also designed to be symbolic of Ancient Greece, particularly Athenians and the Battle of Marathon.

Plotheia (Ancient Greek: Πλώθεια) was a deme of ancient Attica and appears to have belonged to the district of Epacria, and to have been not far from Halae Araphenides. It was noted for its festival celebrating the hero Pandion.Its site is located south of modern Stamata.

Lake Marathon or the Marathon Reservoir (Greek: Λίμνη Μαραθώνος [Limni Marathónos] or Λίμνη Μαραθώνα [Limni Marathóna]) is a man-made water supply reservoir formed from the construction of Marathon Dam at the junction of Charadros and Varnavas Torrents near the town of Marathon, Greece. It was the primary water supply for Athens from 1931, when it became operational, until 1959. In 1959 water from Lake Yliki became available, and water from Mornos Reservoir became available in 1981. The area of the lake at the height of the spillway of the dam is 2.45 square kilometres, the maximum depth is 54 m, the lake concentrates water from a drainage basin of 118 square kilometres with an average runoff of 14,400,000 m³ per year in an average rainfall of 580 mm per year, the average inbound volume is 12,000,000 m³ per year and the maximum reservoir capacity is 41,000,000 m³ (effective volume 34,000,000 m³). The dam has a maximum height (from foundation to crest) of 54 m, a maximum width of 28 m at the base and 4.5 m at the crest. Its length is 285 m. The crest is 227 m above sea level, the toe is 173 m above sea level, and the spillway is 223 m above sea level. The spillway disgorges 520 m³/s. The dam is constructed from concrete and is a gravity dam. It is unique worldwide because its external cladding of white pentelikon marble is the same marble used in construction of the Parthenon and the other buildings in the Acropolis. The dam was constructed by the American firm ULEN (which had, in a BOT type contract, the ownership of the water supply company of Athens until 1974). It was constructed to meet the increased water demand caused by the rapid population increase in the Athens area following the huge influx of refugees from Asia Minor during and after the end of Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922). The construction lasted from 1926 to 1929.

Icaria or Ikaria (Ancient Greek: Ἰκαρία), also known as Icarium or Ikarion (Ἰκάριον), was a deme of ancient Attica. It holds pride of place due to its prominence in Greek mythology as the place where Icarius received Dionysus, who taught him the art of making wine. Nearby was Mount Icarius.The site of Icaria is located near modern Dionysos, Greece.

The Archeological Museum of Marathon is a museum in Marathon, Attica, Greece. The museum mainly houses findings originating from the Battle of Marathon and from the Egyptian temple built nearby.

Oeum Deceleicum or Oion Dekeleikon (Ancient Greek: Οἶον Δεκελεικόν) was a deme of ancient Attica near Deceleia, so called to distinguish it from the Oeum Cerameicum.The site of Oeum Deceleicum is located near modern Bogiati.

Stamata (Greek: Σταμάτα) is a community in Athens, East Attica regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Dionysos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 18.950 km2.Stamata is a rather exclusive suburb, situated in the mountainous northeastern part of the Athenian plain, between the Parnitha and Penteli mountains, about 23 km northeast of center of Athens. Till the last decades, only the main village was inhabited, while the rural area was cultivated by the inhabitants of the village. Nowadays, there are also residences in the settlement of Amygdaleza (Αμυγδαλέζα) and the residential associations of Euxeinos Pontos (Εύξεινος Πόντος) and Prokonisos (Προκόνησος). Stamata could be designated as a rural, rather than a suburban, area, but luxury houses and villas are continuously being developed, mainly in the aforementioned residential associations, turning Stamata into an upper middle class suburb.
