The Jeannette City School District is a small urban school district in Southwestern Pennsylvania. It is located in Westmoreland County and is surrounded by the Penn-Trafford and Hempfield Area School Districts. The district consists of two schools, McKee Elementary School (PK-6) and the Jeannette Junior-Senior High School (7-12).

Grapeville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 676 at the time of the 2000 census.

WKHB (620 kHz "KHB Radio") is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Irwin, Pennsylvania, and serving Greater Pittsburgh. It is owned by Broadcast Communications, Inc., and it carries a brokered programming radio format. During the day, hosts pay the station for time on the air and may advertise their products or services during their shows. At night, WKHB plays oldies music. By day, WKHB transmits with 5,500 watts, but at night, to prevent interference to other stations on 620 AM, WKHB reduces power to only 50 watts. The transmitter is off Turkey Farm Road in Wendel. Programming is simulcast on three FM translators: 102.1 in Central Allegheny County, 94.1 in Pittsburgh and 92.3 in Westmoreland County.

Jeannette is a city in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. Jeannette was founded in 1888. The city got its name from one of the original city fathers, H. Sellers McKee, who wished to honor his wife by giving the new town her first name: Jeannette. The city celebrated its 125th anniversary in July 2013. The population was 9,654 according to the 2010 census.

Greengate Centre is an open-air power center in Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 30. The center opened in 2005 on the site of the defunct Greengate Mall, which was demolished in 2003. Greengate Centre currently encompasses over 430,000 square feet (40,000 m2) of retail space, and more than 45 stores and restaurants. Anchor stores include Jo-Ann Fabrics, Petco, Ross Dress for Less, and Walmart. It also contains dozens of smaller retailers such as Five Below, GameStop, Lane Bryant, General Nutrition Centers, Oshkosh B'gosh, and Verizon Wireless. The Kroenke Group of Columbia, Missouri owns and manages the shopping center.

Hempfield Area High School is a high school for students in the Hempfield Township area of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

Penn is a borough in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 475 at the time of the 2010 census. The borough was named for Pennsylvania founder William Penn.

Fort Allen (also known as "Truby's Blockhouse") was a military structure which was built in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County in the Province of Pennsylvania by Colonel Christopher Truby of Pennsylvania's colonial militia. Erected in 1774 in response to a threatened attack by Indians upon German pioneers who had settled in the area, it became a frontier fort of Dunmore's War in 1774, and also was used as a fort during the American Revolution in which Truby also served as an officer with the Continental Army.

Bushy Run Battlefield Park is a historical park that is operated by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) and the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society on 218 acres (88 ha) in Penn Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It was the site of the Battle of Bushy Run fought on August 5–6, 1763 during the Pontiac's Rebellion. The battle was a major victory for the British and enabled them to secure their control of the Ohio River Valley and what was to become the Northwest Territory. Bushy Run Battlefield Park was established as a Pennsylvania State Park in the 1920s and became a National Historic Landmark in 1960. The Visitor Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Sunday from noon to 5:00 pm, during the months of May–October. The Visitor Center hosts a museum exhibit entitled, "The March to Bushy Run", a theater, a gift shop and battlefield tours. Bushy Run Battlefield Park is the only historic site or museum that deals exclusively with Pontiac's Rebellion. Battle reenactments are held annually on the first full weekend of August. The park is on Pennsylvania Route 993 near Harrison City and Jeannette.

The Battle of Bushy Run was fought on August 5–6, 1763, in western Pennsylvania, between a British column under the command of Colonel Henry Bouquet and a combined force of Delaware, Shawnee, Mingo, and Huron warriors. This action occurred during Pontiac's Rebellion. Though the British suffered serious losses, they routed the tribesmen and successfully relieved the garrison of Fort Pitt.

Brush Creek Salems Church, now known as Irwin Brush Creek Salem United Church of Christ, is a historic Reformed church building located in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1816 and 1820, and is a two-story, brick building with a gable roof. The interior features a second floor gallery. A connected gable roofed, one-story addition was built in 1958.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
