Waitangirua is a suburb of Porirua City approximately 22km north of Wellington in New Zealand. Waitangirua was established during the 1960s, almost exclusively as a Government housing development for New Zealand's burgeoning working class immigrant population. As such the ethnic demographic of Waitangirua at the time of establishment comprising primarily Pacific Island, Scottish, Indian, Irish, English and Chinese as well as Māori. Many of the original settling families still live in Waitangirua today. The hilly suburb until the late 90s was almost semi-rural surrounded by farmland with Whitby to the North East, Pauatahanui Inlet and Estuary further to the North, and the Belmont hills and Hutt Valley to the East. The diverse multi-racial nature of Waitangirua makes for a colourful community dominated by a vibrant and exuberant youth culture. Several scenes from the Taika Waititi film Eagle vs Shark were shot on location in Waitangirua.

Ascot Park is a suburb of Porirua City approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi) north of Wellington in New Zealand. Ascot Park covers an area of 1.12 km², including a land area of 1.12 km². It includes the suburb's namesake, the Ascot Park public reserve.

Taylor-Stace Cottage, built in 1847, is the oldest surviving house of European origin in the Wellington region of New Zealand. The cottage is classified as a Category I historic place (a place of "special or outstanding historical or cultural heritage significance or value") by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Taylor-Stace Cottage was built by immigrants William and Anne Taylor, who had come to New Zealand in 1840. The back portion of the cottage was completed in 1847 and was sold to Alfred Stace the following year. It's debated whether the front part of the cottage was built during the 1850s or in 1906 after the Stace family moved on. During the 1970s the cottage was used as a craft gallery, and in the 2000s it was an art gallery for a couple of years.In 2010 and 2011 combined funding and effort by the new owners, Porirua City Council and the New Zealand Historic Places Trust, saw the cottage restored and raised to protect it from flooding. Its current use is as a beauty salon.

Papakōwhai is a suburb of Porirua City. It lies approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi) north of Wellington in New Zealand. The name "Papakōwhai" (Māori pronunciation: [papaˈkɔfai]) in the Māori language means "yellow earth". As well as being the name of the suburb it is the name of the main road connecting the suburb to the south. Most of the other streets in Papakōwhai take their names from Scottish rivers.The first European known to have settled in the area was William Bowler in the early 19th century. As of 2016 Papakōwhai includes the Royal New Zealand Police College and Aotea Lagoon public park.

Pāuatahanui Wildlife Reserve is a wetland reserve at the eastern edge of the Pāuatahanui Inlet of the Porirua Harbour in Porirua, New Zealand. The reserve contains the most significant area of saltmarsh in the lower North Island of New Zealand. It also includes tidal mudflats, shrub lands and regenerating coastal forest. The reserve covers 50 hectares (120 acres), of which the Department of Conservation owns 46 hectares, and Forest & Bird owns the remaining 4 hectares under covenant to the Queen Elizabeth II Trust. The reserve is managed by a committee of Forest & Bird representatives in association with the Department of Conservation.

Paremata is a suburb of Porirua, on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of Wellington, New Zealand.

St Alban's Church is an heritage-listed Anglican church located in Pāuatahanui, Porirua, New Zealand.

Pāuatahanui (; Māori: [ˈpaʉatahanʉi]) is a village in New Zealand's North Island. It is at the far eastern end of what was known as the Pāuatahanui Inlet (since renamed to Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour), an arm of the Porirua Harbour, northeast of Wellington. In local government terms, Pāuatahanui is part of the Northern Ward of Porirua City.

Mana is a locality of Porirua City in New Zealand, part of the Suburb of Paremata. It is a narrow isthmus bounded to the west by the entrance to Porirua Harbour, and to the east by the Pauatahanui inlet of the Porirua Harbour. Mana Island lies about three kilometres west of the isthmus. State Highway 59 and the North Island Main Trunk railway both pass through the centre of Mana; the state highway route was previously part of State Highway 1 until SH 1 was shifted to the Transmission Gully Motorway on 7 December 2021. A significant increase in the traffic capacity through Mana occurred in 2005-2006 when a second bridge on the state highway route was added at the southern end, transit lanes were introduced and several sets of traffic lights were added as part of the Plimmerton to Paremata upgrade.

Fort Parramatta was the name was given to a fort north of Wellington, New Zealand, in the 1840s. The remains of the fort are still visible on the Ngatitoa Domain in Porirua City, but the surrounding suburb name has been changed to "Paremata".

Mana railway station on the Kapiti Line section of the North Island Main Trunk Railway (NIMT) in the locality of Mana in the Paremata suburb of the city of Porirua, New Zealand is part of Wellington's Metlink suburban rail network. It is double tracked with a platform each side and a subway between them.

The Royal New Zealand Police College (RNZPC) is the central training institution for police recruits and police officers in New Zealand. It is located at Papakowhai, approximately 2 km north of Porirua City. Recruits at the college undergo a rigorous 16 week training course. There are around six intakes (called "wings") of recruits admitted each year. Wings consist of 40, 60 or 80 recruits. Trainees are taught a variety of skills relating to police vehicle use, firearms use, forensic techniques, negotiation and cultural awareness. Successful graduates become probationary constables for a period of two years. As well as ongoing officer training, the RNZPC hosts other non-police related courses, conferences and events. The college is also home to the New Zealand Police Museum, and the Police Information & Communications Technology Service Centre (where information technology for the whole of Police is managed). The Memorial Building has a wall covered with plaques dedicated to New Zealand Police Officers killed on duty. The college was opened by Prince Charles on April 1, 1981. Prior to this, the police force's training facility was based at Trentham Military Camp.
