Fourth District School

The Warham Williams House is a historic house in Roxbury, Connecticut. Originally built in 1752 in Northford, Connecticut for the Reverend Warham Williams, Northford's first settled minister, it is architecturally significant for its elaborate front door surround. It was moved to a rural setting in Roxbury in 1978. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

Northford is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the primary village and surrounding residential and rural land in the town of North Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. It is in the northern part of the town, bordered to the west by the town of North Haven, to the east by the town of Guilford, and to the north by the town of Wallingford, all in New Haven County. It is bordered to the northeast by the town of Durham in Middlesex County. In 2002, 230 acres (93 ha) of the central village of Northford were designated as the Northford Center Historic District. Northford was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

The Northford Center Historic District encompasses the historic village area of Northford in northern North Branford, Connecticut. The basically linear district extends along Middletown Avenue from the village center at its southern end, to a point beyond its northern junction with Old Post Road. The area was settled in the early 18th century, and was transformed into a rural industrial village in the 19th century by the locally prominent Maltby and Fowler families. The district includes many fine pre-Civil-War houses (including the Howd-Linsley House), two churches (including the gothic-revival Northford Congregational Church designed by Henry Austin), and a schoolhouse (the Fourth District School). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Northford Ice Pavilion is an American ice skating complex, located in the Northford area of North Branford, Connecticut. It hosts a number of high school ice hockey teams.The arena formerly hosted the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation in the 2016–17 season. It also formerly hosted the NCAA Division I program of Quinnipiac Bobcats men's ice hockey, in the era before the TD Banknorth Sports Center was opened.

The Howd-Linsley House is a historic house at 1795 Middletown Avenue in the Northford area of North Branford, Connecticut. Built in 1705, it is a candidate as the oldest surviving building in the town, and a good example of period residential architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The John Barker House is a historic house at 898 Clintonville Road in Wallingford, Connecticut. Built in 1756 for a wealthy farmer, it is one of the oldest brick houses in Connecticut, and one of the few of the period with a gambrel roof. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Rising Sun Tavern is a historic house and former public accommodation on Old Tavern Road in North Haven, Connecticut. Probably built around 1760, it is a well-preserved example of an 18th-century tavern house, serving in that role into the mid-19th century. Now a private residence, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

North Branford is a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The town is part of the South Central Connecticut Planning Region. The population was 13,544 at the 2020 census. The town is primarily known for agriculture and for other points of interest including Lake Gaillard and Northford Ice Pavilion. Wallingford, Durham, and North Haven border it to the north- East Haven to the west, Guilford to the east, and Branford to the south. The town has the neighborhoods of Totoket, Wood Chase, Sea Hill, Twin Lakes, Ashley Park, and Doral Farms. North Branford also includes the village of Northford.

Lake Gaillard in North Branford, Connecticut, began during the 1920s, when the New Haven Water Company (which is now South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority) started buying land in North Branford from the area of Totoket Mountain to what is now known as Sea Hill Road, with the intention of building a reservoir. "The regional water authority currently owns 34.9% (6,000 out of 17,000 sq acres) of the land within North Branford, most of these holdings surrounds Lake Gaillard, the largest reservoir within the Regional Water Authority’s water supply."In 1926 the construction of Lake Gaillard began. The building of Lake Gaillard took over 7 years and was finished in 1933. "Lake Gaillard had cut off any eastern access between the two ends of town and the road to North Guilford. The lake also covered 22 homes and farms. Many of the construction workers who came to build this massive project settled in town, further increasing the population."The man-made lake is over 1.5 miles long by over a mile wide at its largest points. In comparison to the Town of North Branford the reservoir is massive, making up over 20% of the town area, all of which is private and not open to the public. "Currently the lake provides water for more than 500,000 customers of the Regional Water Authority."The reservoir provides drinking water for much of New Haven County. "Lake Gaillard reservoir in North Branford is part of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority’s (RWA) system which stores water for future use to the towns of North Branford, Branford, East Haven, North Haven and part of New Haven. After this stored water is sent to its designated water treatment plant for processing, it is then distributed into the RWA’s public water line system."

Lyman Hall High School is a public high school located at 70 Pond Hill Road in Wallingford, Connecticut. It is part of the Wallingford Public School System, and one of two public high schools in Wallingford, Mark T. Sheehan being the other.

Wharton Brook State Park is a public recreation area located off U.S. Route 5 in the towns of North Haven and Wallingford, Connecticut. Activities in the 96-acre (39 ha) state park center on Allen Brook Pond, a 5-acre (2.0 ha) pond that empties into Wharton Brook. The park is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The Samuel Simpson House (also known as the Taber House) is a historic house at 1370 Scard Road in Wallingford, Connecticut. Built in 1838 by John Meigs Hall, it was the home of 19th century industrialist and philanthropist Samuel Simpson. Some of the house's structural beams, repurposed from an older building in the same location, date back to the 1600s. Around 1867, the home was extensively redesigned by renowned New Haven, Connecticut architect Henry Austin, giving it Renaissance Revival characteristics.The house was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
