South Dum Dum

Patipukur railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station in Patipukur. It serves the local areas of Patipukur in South Dumdum and Belgachia in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Only a few local trains halt here. The station has only a single platform. Its station code is PTKR.

In 1848, the Congregation of Christian Brothers (Missionaries of Ireland) founded the Calcutta Male Orphanage at Murgihatta, Calcutta. In 1947, it came to the present campus in Dum Dum in North Calcutta and was renamed St. Mary's Orphanage and Day School. The school particularly serves the northern and eastern part of Calcutta and North 24 Parganas District. It organises a daily feeding program which serves more than 100 people everyday.

Dum Dum Junction is a Kolkata Suburban Railway junction station on the Sealdah–Ranaghat line. Two lines branch out after Dum Dum – the Calcutta chord line to Dankuni and the Sealdah–Hasnabad–Bangaon–Ranaghat line to Bangaon and Hasnabad. The Dum Dum metro station is adjacent to Dum Dum railway station. It serves Dum Dum and the surrounding areas. The popular Sealdah Rajdhani Express , West Bengal Sampark Kranti Express , and Sealdah-Bikaner Duronto Express pass through DDJ (despite not being a stoppage to such trains).

Dum Dum is a station of the Kolkata Metro. The metro station adjoins the platforms of the Dum Dum railway station where connections can be made with Indian Railways services.

The West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences (WBUAFS) is a public state veterinary university in West Bengal, India. It was established on 2 January 1995 by an Act of the West Bengal legislature. It imparts education and training in veterinary and animal sciences, dairy sciences, and fishery sciences.
