Godadra was a city and a Municipality in Surat City in the Indian state of Gujarat. The town comes under Greater Surat. Godadara is one of the eight amalgamated municipalities in Surat and was added to Limbayat Zone.

Limbayat is one of the 182 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Gujarat state in India. It is part of Surat district.

Udhna Junction railway station is a railway station serving Udhna town, in Surat district of Gujarat State of India. It is under Mumbai WR railway division of Western Railway zone of Indian Railways. It is located on New Delhi–Mumbai main line of the Indian Railways. It is located at 14 m above sea level and has three platforms. Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) is a medical college and teaching hospital in Surat, Gujarat, India, which is the fourth-fastest-growing city in the world. It was established in 2000 and has been affiliated to the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. The institute is spread over a floor area of 18,427 square metres (198,350 sq ft) for the medical college, and 75,217 square metres (809,630 sq ft) for the hospital section. It was developed with a total expenditure of Rs. 484.29 million by the Surat Municipal Corporation.The medical college admits 150 undergraduate students each year. The college campus has an area of 25 acres (100,000 m2). SMIMER is owned and run by the Surat Municipal Corporation and is approved by the Medical Council of India under MCI Act 10 A. The college has its own hospital located next to the medical college complex with 500 beds, out of which 90% are free beds and 10% are paying beds in the special wards. Dr. Vandana Desai is the Administrative Medical Superintendent. The casualty department i.e. emergency medicine or trauma center is available 24 hours a day and an average of 100–125 patients are treated every day. The hospital is a non-profit organisation run by Surat Municipal Corporation.

It is on the Ahmedabad–Vadodara–Mumbai rail route. The railway station was built in 1860. Going north, Utran Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Udhna Junction Railway Station is to the south of Surat. In early 2016, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation rated the facility the best large station in India based on cleanliness. The Battle of Salher was a battle fought between the Marathas and the Mughal Empire in February 1672 CE. The battle was fought near the fort of Salher in the Nashik district. The result was a decisive victory for the Marathas. This battle is considered particularly significant as it is the first pitched battle in which the Mughal Empire lost to the Marathas.

Battle of Surat, also known as the Sack of Surat, was a land battle that took place on January 5, 1664, near the city of Surat, Gujarat, India between Maratha ruler Shivaji and Inayat Khan, a Mughal captain. The Marathas defeated the Mughal force, and sacked the city of Surat for six days.According to James Grant Duff, a captain in the British India Regiment, Surat was attacked by Shivaji on 5 January 1664. Surat was a wealthy port city in the Mughal Empire and was useful for the Mughals as it was used for the sea trade of the Arabian Sea. The city was well populated mostly by Hindus and a few Muslims, especially the officials in the Mughal administration of the city. The attack was so sudden that the population had no chance to flee. The plunder was continued for six days and two-thirds of the city was burnt down. The loot was then transferred to Rajgad fort.

The expedition to Surat was the failed establishment of a factory at Surat by the Swedish East India Company in April 1760. After being instigated by both British and Dutch authorities, the local Nawab sent Indian troops and occupied the fortress, holding Christopher Henric Braad and several of his companions captive for 20 days.
