KATY-FM (101.3 MHz, "KATY 101.3"), is a commercial radio station serving to the southwestern portion of the Riverside-San Bernardino, California radio market. KATY-FM is licensed to Idyllwild, California, with its studios and offices in Temecula, California. It broadcasts a Soft AC radio format, described as "Lite & Refreshing." KATY-FM is independently owned and operated by the parent company, All Pro Broadcasting, which is owned by the estate of the late Green Bay Packers star Willie Davis. It is a sister station to "Hot 103.9" KHTI in Lake Arrowhead, California. The current on-air staff include Erica, Mia D, Rick Shaw, Chris Ramone, Bernard, and JP Raineri. KATY-FM carries the nationally syndicated John Tesh Radio Show.

Idyllwild Arts Foundation encompasses two institutions in Idyllwild, California for training in the arts: Idyllwild Arts Academy (IAA) and the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program. The institution was formerly known as Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts (ISOMATA). Joy in the Making (1967) is a documentary about its summer arts program made by filmmaker Virginia Garner, who became a Trustee Emeritus of the Board of Governors and Trustees of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation.

The Pearlman Mountain Cabin is a cottage in Idyllwild, United States. It was designed by John Lautner in 1957. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as "character-defining" for the architectural style of organic architecture.

The Mountain Fire was a wildfire in July, 2013 in Mountain Center, Riverside County, California, about 100 miles east of Los Angeles. It burned primarily in the San Jacinto Mountains in the San Bernardino National Forest. It started on July 15, 2013 at 1:43 PM near the junction of Highway 243 and Highway 74. It burned for 16 days on steep slopes of timber and chaparral above Palm Springs. Heavy rainfall, up to 1.5 inches (3.8 cm), on July 21 helped bring the blaze under control. It was fully contained on July 30, 2013.Cal Fire investigators said the fire was caused by a failure of "some type of electrical equipment" on private property and was not related to utility company equipment. At the fire's peak there were 3,500 firefighters on the lines as well as 20 helicopters, 12 airplanes and 260 engines. The cost of fighting the fire was estimated at $25.8 million.

Mountain Center is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in the San Jacinto Mountains, within western central Riverside County, California.

Idyllwild, Pine Cove, and Fern Valley are three adjacent unincorporated communities in the San Jacinto Mountains in Riverside County, California, United States. Idyllwild has the largest population of the three. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Idyllwild–Pine Cove as a census-designated place (CDP). The CDP's population was 3,874 at the 2010 census, up from 3,504 as of the 2000 census. Idyllwild is adjacent to the Pacific Crest Trail."Mile-high Idyllwild" is a mountain resort about one mile (1600 m) in altitude. Idyllwild is flanked by two large rock formations, Tahquitz Peak and Suicide Rock (also known as Lily Rock), which are famous in Southern California rock-climbing circles. It offers no skiing, so "the Hill" has been minimally developed over the years and remains a center for hiking, mountain and rock climbing, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

Lake Fulmor is a small artificial lake formed by an earthen dam on Indian Creek in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County, California. The lake is located just off State Route 243, about 7 mi (11 km) northwest of the unincorporated community of Pine Cove.

The James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve, a unit of the University of California Natural Reserve System, is a 29-acre (120,000 m2) ecological reserve and biological field station located at an altitude of 5,200 feet (1,600 m) in a wilderness area of the San Jacinto Mountains near Lake Fulmor in Riverside County, California, United States.

The Fairview Fire is a deadly and destructive wildfire that burned during the 2022 California wildfire season southwest of Valle Vista and east of Hemet in Riverside County, California in the United States. The fire ignited on September 5, 2022, during a severe heatwave that had plagued much of the southwest throughout early September and, due to the extreme weather conditions, grew to a deadly and destructive conflagration in the chaparral-filled foothills within just several hours of igniting.The fire fatally injured two civilians attempting to flee from the fire and severely injured another, as well as destroying thirteen structures. As of September 10, the fire has grown to 28,307 acres (11,455 ha).

The Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians is a federally recognized tribe of Luiseño people, headquartered in Riverside County, California. On June 18, 1883, the Soboba Reservation was established by the United States government in San Jacinto. There are five other federally recognized tribes of Luiseño people in southern California.
