Queens Plaza station

Queens Plaza Park, also known as Sven, is a residential building under construction at 29-27 Queens Plaza North in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens, New York City. At 755 feet (230 m) tall, Queens Plaza Park is the second-tallest building in Queens behind Skyline Tower, as well as one of the tallest buildings in New York City outside of Manhattan. The building was one of several that were planned on Queens Plaza following a 2001 rezoning. Queens Plaza Park was first planned as a hotel, then a condominium, and finally a 930-foot (280 m) supertall skyscraper before the plans were finalized in 2016. The structure topped out in June 2020. The development will incorporate the Chase Manhattan Bank Building, a 14-story clock tower and office building erected in 1927 as the first skyscraper in the borough of Queens. Designed by Morrell Smith for the Manhattan Company (later Chase Bank), it was the borough's tallest office building until the Citicorp Building was finished in 1990. In 2015, the Chase Manhattan Bank Building was designated as an official city landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. It was then incorporated into the design plans for Queens Plaza Park, where it was slated to serve as the building's commercial base.

28-11 Queens Plaza North, originally known as Queens Court Plaza or Queens Plaza Court, is an office building located at Queens Plaza North (Bridge Plaza North) and 29th Street in Long Island City, Queens, New York. Currently city-owned, it is used as offices for the New York City Departments of Education and Transportation. Completed in 1912, it was one of the first office buildings constructed along Queens Plaza, which would evolve into a financial and commercial district. The building originally housed the Queens Chamber of Commerce and Long Island City Savings Bank, then served as regional offices for Consolidated Edison beginning in 1920. It was expanded from its original four stories into nine stories in 1927. After being used as Army barracks during World War II, the building became the Queens offices of Pan Am. The City of New York began using the building in 1964, and purchased the building in 1974.

The Brewster Building is a 400,000-square-foot (37,000 m2) building at 27-01 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City, Queens, New York City. Once an assembly plant for Rolls Royce cars and Brewster cars and Brewster Buffalo airplanes, it is now the corporate headquarters for JetBlue.

Brewster & Company was an American custom carriage-maker and automobile coachbuilder founded by James Brewster in 1810 and active almost 130 years. Brewster began in New Haven, Connecticut and quickly established a reputation for building America's finest carriages. He opened his first New York City showroom at 52 Broad Street in 1827. Brewster's first known bodywork on an automobile was on an electric car in 1896, then a gasoline-powered Delaunay-Belleville chassis in 1905. Eventually they built bodies on chassis from a variety of makers, winning a particular link with Rolls-Royce America Inc at Springfield. Between 1915-1925 they produced a line of opulent and expensive automobiles at their plant in Long Island City. The Great Depression began in 1929 and luxury car sales declined. In 1934-35 they built and sold luxury bodies on 135 Ford V8 chassis, but bankruptcy proceedings began in mid-1935 and the last of Brewster's assets were sold by auction in 1937.

Tower 28 is one of the tallest skyscrapers in New York City, located in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens. It is the tallest residential building in Queens and the tallest residential building in New York City outside of Manhattan.The building includes around 450 residential units. The building has an observation deck on the 60th floor.In 2019, the developer secured a $215 million loan from Morgan Stanley, replacing a $154 million construction loan from PNC Bank.

Newcomers High School (High School 555) is a high school located in Long Island City, Queens, New York City, United States. It opened in 1995 with Lourdes Burrows as its principal; Orlando Sarmiento is the most recent principal, and was appointed in 2009. This school specializes in introducing new immigrants to American culture, and also teaching English to students. In 2009, it was rated as #6 out of U.S. News & World Report's list of top 500 high schools in the U.S.—making it the highest-ranked school out of 12 New York City public schools on the top 500 list. The school is near the Queens Plaza (E, ​M, and ​R trains) and Queensboro Plaza (7, <7>​​, N and ​W trains) New York City Subway stations, as well as numerous MTA Bus/New York City Bus routes.The school has 836 students as of the 2019–2020 school year. Sunnyside is a proposed commuter rail station to be served by the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens, New York. The station will be opened after the completion of the Grand Central Terminal East Side Access extension project, and will be within the City Terminal Zone. The projected area will be at Queens Boulevard and Skillman Avenue.

The Queensboro Plaza station (originally named Queensboro Bridge Plaza station or simply Bridge Plaza station) is an elevated New York City Subway station at Queens Plaza (originally called Queensboro Bridge Plaza or simply Bridge Plaza) in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens. It is near the east end of the Queensboro Bridge, with Queens Boulevard running east from the plaza. The station is served by the 7 and N trains at all times, the W train on weekdays, and the <7> train rush hours in the peak direction. Queensboro Plaza was originally built in 1916–1917 as part of the Dual Contracts between the Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation (BMT) and the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT). The station initially had eight tracks to allow BMT and IRT passengers to transfer between the Astoria, Flushing, and Second Avenue elevated lines. The northern section of the station was closed in the late 1940s and demolished in 1964. Queensboro Plaza now contains only four tracks: two each for the IRT Flushing Line (7 and <7>​ trains) and the BMT Astoria Line (N and ​W trains). Today, Queensboro Plaza is the only station in the entire system to provide cross-platform transfers between "A" Division (7 and <7>​) and "B" Division (N and ​W) trains. While the station is near the Queens Plaza underground subway station, which serves the IND Queens Boulevard Line, the two stations are separate and do not allow free transfers.

SculptureCenter is a not-for-profit, contemporary art museum located in Long Island City, Queens, New York, United States. It was founded in 1928 as "The Clay Club" by Dorothea Denslow. In 2013, SculptureCentre attracted around 13,000 visitors.

Long Island City (LIC) is a residential and commercial neighborhood on the extreme western tip of Queens, a borough in New York City. It is bordered by Astoria to the north; the East River to the west; Hazen Street, 49th Street, and New Calvary Cemetery in Sunnyside to the east; and Newtown Creek—which separates Queens from Greenpoint, Brooklyn—to the south. Incorporated as a city in 1870, Long Island City was originally the seat of government of the Town of Newtown, before becoming part of the City of Greater New York in 1898. Northwest of the bridge are the Queensbridge Houses, a development of the New York City Housing Authority and the largest public housing complex in the Western Hemisphere. Long Island City is part of Queens Community District 1 to the north and Queens Community District 2 to the south. It is patrolled by the New York City Police Department's 108th Precinct. Politically, Long Island City is represented by the New York City Council's 26th District.

The La Guardia and Wagner Archives was established in 1982 at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, Queens, New York, to collect, preserve, and make available primary materials documenting the social and political history of New York City, with an emphasis on the mayoralty and the borough of Queens. The purpose of its founding went beyond serving as a repository, but to establish the college as a location for scholarly research. The archives serves a broad array of researchers, journalists, students, scholars, exhibit planners, and policy makers. Its web site provides guidelines to the collections, as well as over 55,000 digitized photographs and close to 2,000,000 digitized documents.
