Charles H. Mouton House

Sterling Grove Historic District is a historic district in downtown Lafayette, Louisiana roughly bounded by Evangeline Throughway, East Simcoe Street, North Sterling Street and Chopin Street. The 25-acre (10 ha) area comprises a total of 59 buildings, of which 43 are considered contributing properties, and one is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as individual property. Building dates vary from 1848 to 1934 and are mostly residences. The district comprises the area of Lieutenant Governor Charles Mouton's plantation.The historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 26, 1984.

Lafayette station is a train station in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States. It is served by the Sunset Limited, operated by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. The Lafayette station was originally built by the Texas and New Orleans Railroad in either 1911 or 1912, but burned in a fire and was abandoned on May 11, 2001. Completed in 2007, the $11 million restoration of the station was funded through the city government, Federal Transit Administration and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, and included work on the exterior walls and platform canopy. The depot now houses a city transit office, waiting room for bus and Amtrak passengers and the office for the city-parish Traffic and Transportation Department.

The Evangeline Hotel is a historic hotel and restaurant building located at 302 and 302A Jefferson Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. Built in 1928, the hotel is a large six story brick building with a one-story restaurant wing in Italianate style.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 17, 1994.

The Old Guaranty Bank Building is a historic bank building located at 500 Jefferson Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. Built in 1905, it is a two-story brick and terra cotta Colonial Revival commercial building.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 12, 1984.

The Brandt House, also known as Bonnet House and Richard House, is a historic house located at 614 Madison Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. Originally built in c.1840 as a two-room Creole cottage facing south with a gallery across the front, the house was hugely remodeled in c.1880, becoming a side hall cottage facing Madison Street. Alterations were so extensive that the building dates to the 1870s for the purpose of its architectural significance. The home is one of the few Greek Revival buildings which survives in downtown Lafayette.The house is named after William Brandt, who bought it in 1859 from Charles H. Mouton and sold it to Alfred Bonnet in 1880. It is locally known also as the Richard House, after the family who purchased it in 1940s.

The Hope Lodge No. 145 is a historic Freemasons lodge located at 116 East Vermilion Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. Built in 1916, it is a two-story brick structure with a five-bay facade and a pair of entrances. The lodge was chartered on February 10, 1857. In the same year former Governor Alexandre Mouton donated the site in which the original building was located. In 1916, due to growing membership, the previous building was demolished to make space for the current building.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 21, 1983.

The Gordon Hotel is a historic hotel building located at 100-110 East Vermilion Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. Originally built in 1904 by George Knapp and designed by Favrot and Livaudais, the hotel was a three-story brick and stucco building in Renaissance Revival style. An extensive remodeling happened in 1928, with William T. Nolan supervision, which added a fourth Baroque styled story to the building, including an undulated roof and a corner obelisk. The 1928 remodeling also added a three-story addition to the east side of the building.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 25, 1982.

The First United Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church located at 703 Lee Avenue in Lafayette, Louisiana. Built in 1924, it is a three-story building in Classical Revival style, with a five-bay front facade and a pedimented portico with four Ionic columns. It was designed by architect J.A. Baylor and built by contractor Knapp & East. According to its NRHP nomination it is one of only three buildings in Lafayette Parish known to have a monumental portico; of those it is "the only one with ornamental fenestration surrounds. It is therefore one of the parish's most pretentious and most high style period buildings."The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 1984.

The Holy Rosary Institute is a historic school building located at 421 Carmel Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. It is one of the few remaining historic Black Catholic high school buildings in the United States.

The Lafayette Hardware Store is a historic commercial building located at 121 West Vermilion Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. Built in c.1890, is a two-story frame building with a false front in Italianate style. The ground story originally hosted two separate stores until c.1915 when a dividing wall was removed. The store is one of Lafayette oldest commercial buildings.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 14, 1984.

The Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL; French: Conseil pour le développement du français en Louisiane) is Louisiana's Office of Francophone Affairs (French: Agence des affaires francophones). It is a state agency whose multiple legislative mandates include developing opportunities to use the French language in tourism, economic development, culture, education and international relations. CODOFIL is governed by a board of 23 members and administratively placed within the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development's Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, overseen by the Lieutenant Governor. CODOFIL is the only state agency in the United States whose purpose is to serve a linguistic population. Today, CODOFIL's role is to promote and support French immersion and French as a second language in education; it acts as a partner to the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), whose role is to manage Louisiana's school districts. CODOFIL continues to recruit and sponsor French, Belgian and Canadian associate teachers as per its accords with those countries, who are placed alongside local teachers upon LDOE's recommendation. CODOFIL encourages Louisiana Francophones to continue transmission of the state's heritage language via its scholarship program (providing opportunities for pedagogical advancement) and the Escadrille Louisiane program (which allows non-native speakers to perfect French at the Université de Rennes in exchange for a minimum 3-year teaching commitment of French in Louisiana).CODOFIL has also worked to instill pride in all Louisiana Francophones in their linguistic identity rather than to uphold one variety of French language or another.

Borden's Ice Cream Shoppe is a historic ice cream parlor on Johnston Street in Lafayette, Louisiana, built in 1940 to sell Borden ice creams. In 1981, then owner, lifelong Lafayette resident Flora Levy, died. Her will stipulated a large bequest to the University of Louisiana Lafayette's Foundation; the ice cream parlor was part of that bequest. The Foundation held the title to the building, and rented the space to the manager who continued to operate the business. The building had been passed down from generation to generation in the Levy family; Flora had received it from her mother. In May 2009, the Foundation sold the store to Lafayette Red's health club owner Red Lerille, who bought the property with the intention of keeping the local icon alive in Lafayette. Lerille plans to slightly renovate the building, adding a drive through window and outdoor seating. Lerille's daughter Kackie Lerille will manage the store. Lerille was quoted as saying that he is interested in mom-and-pop type businesses like the ice cream store. "I believe it is the American way, but it is dying fast. This location is actually the last Borden’s retail ice cream shop in the United States. It is a Lafayette tradition and my daughter and I fully intend to bring it back to its original state." Ella Mae Meaux—who had worked in the parlor for 48 years by the time it was sold to the Lerille Family—said, "Generations of family have come to Borden's for the old-fashioned ice cream parlor experience. This sale to the Lerilles ensures families will be able to continue with this experience for many years to come."
