Edgemere is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens, extending from Beach 32nd to Beach 52nd Street on the Rockaway Peninsula. It contains Rockaway Community Park. Arverne is to the west, and Far Rockaway to the east. Edgemere was founded in 1892 by Frederick J. Far Rockaway High School was a public high school in New York City, at 821 Bay 25th Street in Far Rockaway in the borough of Queens. It operated from 1897 to 2011. Its alumni include three Nobel Prize laureates and convicted fraudster Bernard Madoff. The school was closed as part of a plan to stop students' average grades from declining. It stopped accepting students in 2008 and closed for good on June 27, 2011.Its longest-serving principal was Sanford J. Ellsworth, who served for more than 40 years; its last one was Denise J. Hallett.

The Beach 25th Street station (signed as Beach 25th Street–Wavecrest station) is a station on the IND Rockaway Line of the New York City Subway, located in Queens on the Rockaway Freeway at Beach 25th Street. It is served by the A train at all times. There are two tracks and two side platforms.

The Beach 44th Street station (signed as Beach 44th Street–Frank Avenue station) is a station on the IND Rockaway Line of the New York City Subway. It is served by the A train at all times.

Far Rockaway Beach Bungalow Historic District is a historic area in Far Rockaway, Queens County, New York. It includes summer beach bungalows near the oceanfront of Far Rockaway. They are smaller than the usual domestic bungalows of the 1920s. They were built in 1921 using pattern book designs incorporating uniform facades, compact interiors, integrated porches and exposed rafters. Their architect, Henry Hohauser, became better known in the 1930s as a designer of Art Deco hotels in Miami Beach. The district was hit by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, but survived without major damage. The district is located along Beach 24th, 25th, and 26th Streets. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Bayswater is a small neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens, on the eastern end of the Rockaway Peninsula. The community is located to the northwest of Far Rockaway, along the southeastern shore of Jamaica Bay. Some consider Bayswater to be a part of Far Rockaway, but most recognize it as separate. One of Bayswater's early developers was William Trist Bailey, who had purchased the property and laid out the community around 1878, hence the street names Bailey Court and Trist Place. Once the location of a number of summer hotels such as the Elstone Park and the Sunset Lodge, Bayswater is now a year-round residential neighborhood. Bayswater has a diverse population with large numbers of Black and Orthodox Jewish residents. The Bayswater Civic Association represents the area. Far Rockaway is a neighborhood on the eastern part of the Rockaway peninsula in the New York City borough of Queens. It is the easternmost section of the Rockaways. The neighborhood extends from Beach 32nd Street east to the Nassau County line. Its southern boundary is the Atlantic Ocean; it is one of the neighborhoods along Rockaway Beach. Far Rockaway is located in Queens Community District 14 and its ZIP Code is 11691. It is patrolled by the New York City Police Department's 101st Precinct.

Peninsula Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly known as Rockaway Beach Hospital and Peninsula General Hospital, was a community hospital in the Far Rockaway neighborhood of Queens, New York. PHC, founded in 1908, which opened on April 30, 1911, was an affiliate of the MediSys Health Network at the time of its 2012 closure.

The Marine Pavilion was a luxury hotel in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York City. The Pavilion, which was built on the former homestead of Rockaway's first white settler, Richard Cornell, was completed in 1833, at a then-record cost of $43,000. The hotel attracted people such as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Washington Irving, and other New York City literary figures and socialites who were first attracted to the hotel as a refuge from an outbreak of cholera. The Pavilion was destroyed by fire on June 25, 1864. However, with many more hotels already built in its wake, Far Rockaway remained a fashionable resort area. The hotel was located south of where Norton Street joined Central Avenue (now Beach 20th Street).

Bayswater Point State Park is a 17-acre (0.069 km2) state park located on Jamaica Bay in Queens, New York. The park is located at the western end of Mott Avenue in Bayswater near Far Rockaway and is built on land that once housed the mansion and estate of banker Louis A. Heinsheimer.

The East Rockaway Inlet is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean which separates the Rockaway Peninsula from the barrier island which includes the Nassau County, New York communities of Atlantic Beach, Long Beach and Lido Beach. The inlet is on the south shore of Long Island. It provides for a channel 12 feet deep and 250 feet wide. A 3,000 foot jetty on the western side of the channel was authorized but never constructed, and was eventually deauthorized by Congress in 1977.According to a plaque in Long Beach, New York, the original inlet was through Long Beach directly opposite East Rockaway. New York, hence the name. A decision was made to create a new inlet between Far Rockaway, New York, and Atlantic Beach and the original was filled in with the fill from the newly created inlet. The inlet is traversed by the Atlantic Beach Bridge. Its eastern extension is the Reynolds Channel.

Far Rockaway–Lockwood's Grove is a former station on the Long Island Rail Road's Cedarhurst Cut-off that was located between Beach 21st Street and Beach 22nd Street in Far Rockaway, Queens. The old stationhouse was located roughly between the present Wavecrest and Mott Avenue stations when the entire line was at grade. On about July 1, 1871, before the extension to Far Rockaway opened, the line was leased to the Long Island Railroad. Far Rockaway–Lockwood's Grove was opened by the New York and Rockaway Railroad on May 14, 1872 with the extension of the Cedarhurst Cut-off. The section of the Cedarhurst Cut-off between Far Rockaway and Lockwood's Grove was later known as "The Grove Track". The station closed in September 1877. Lockwood's Grove's original station building was moved to Syosset station in 1877 after the station was abandoned. The building was renovated in 1944, but was torn down and replaced in 1948.
