Lillehammer (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈlɪ̂lːəˌhɑmːər] (listen)) is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Gudbrandsdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Lillehammer. Some of the more notable villages in the municipality include Fåberg, Hunderfossen, Jørstadmoen, Vingnes, and Vingrom. The 478-square-kilometre (185 sq mi) municipality is the 211th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Lillehammer is the 38th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 28,425. The municipality's population density is 63.1 inhabitants per square kilometre (163/sq mi) and its population has increased by 6.2% over the previous 10-year period.The town of Lillehammer is the largest urban centre in the municipality. It lies in the central part of the municipality and it is surrounded by more rural areas. The town centre is a late nineteenth-century concentration of wooden houses, which enjoys a picturesque location overlooking the northern part of lake Mjøsa and the river Lågen, surrounded by mountains. Lillehammer hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics and 2016 Winter Youth Olympics.

Sør-Gudbrandsdal District Court (Norwegian: Sør-Gudbrandsdal tingrett) was a district court in Innlandet county, Norway. The court was based in Lillehammer. The court existed from 1731 until 2021. It served the municipalities of Gausdal, Lillehammer, Øyer, Ringebu and Sør-Fron. Cases from this court could be appealed to Eidsivating Court of Appeal.The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court were heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges.

Lillehammer Art Museum (Norwegian: Lillehammer kunstmuseum) is an art gallery located in Lillehammer, Norway.The museum was founded in 1921 as a gift from merchant Einar Lunde. It has three main collections: one consisting of over 100 paintings from adherents of the Matisse school, donated by Einar Lunde from the 1920s. In 1958, antique dealer Oscar Johannesen donated his entire collection from the 19th century. In 2008, Jon Dobloug donated major parts of his collection including 159 paintings dating from the 1980s and 1990s.The older part of the collection, pictures donated by Lunde and Johannessen, is mainly found in the building designed by architect Erling Viksjø, which was completed in 1963. The newer building (Flygelet) was designed by the architecture firm Snøhetta and opened to the public in 1992. During the 1994 Winter Olympics, this building served as the main venue for cultural activities.

Oppland County Municipality (Norwegian: Oppland fylkeskommune) was the regional governing administration of the old Oppland county in Norway. The county municipality was established in its most recent form on 1 January 1976 when the law was changed to allow elected county councils in Norway. The county municipality was dissolved on 1 January 2020, when Oppland was merged with the neighboring Hedmark county, creating the new Innlandet county which is led by the Innlandet County Municipality. The administrative seat is located in Lillehammer and the county mayor was Even Aleksander Hagen. The main responsibilities of the county municipality included the running of the 13 upper secondary schools. It managed all the county roadways, public transport, dental care, culture, and cultural heritage sites in the county. Public transport was managed through Opplandstrafikk.

The Norwegian Festival of Literature (in Norwegian Sigrid Undset-dagene) is the biggest non commercial literary festival in the Nordic countries taking place in May/June in Lillehammer every year since 1995. The festival includes all the Nordic countries in its scope and has developed into a popular festival where both writers and people from the book publishing industry, both domestic and foreign, are represented. The 2013-festival had over 200 events, 400 artists/writers and counted 24,173 visitors. The program consists of debates, readings, concerts, films, seminars, theater, interviews and more and the visitors are represented by kids, journalists, publishers, up and coming writers, librarians, students, translators, critics, politicians, local readers and the general public. Pegasus is the festival's offering to children and youths and consists of nearly one-third of the program. J.M. Coetzee, Herta Müller, Amos Oz, Zadie Smith, Per Petterson, Märta Tikkanen, André Brink, Margaret Atwood, John Irving, Ko Un, Sofi Oksanen, Shaun Tan, Adonis, Antony and the Johnsons, Abdulrazak Gurnah are amongst the previous guests at the festival.

Lillehammer Church (Norwegian: Lillehammer kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lillehammer Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the town of Lillehammer. It is the church for the Lillehammer parish which is the seat of the Sør-Gudbrandsdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The red, brick church was built in a long church design in 1882 using plans drawn up by the architect Henrik Thrap-Meyer. The church seats about 650 people.

Lillehammer Municipality is the local government for Lillehammer, Norway. The administration is located in the town of Lillehammer. The municipality is governed by a 47-member municipal council, which is led by Mayor Espen Granberg Johnsen. The municipal administration is led by Annar Skrefsru.

Hammartun Lower Secondary School (Norwegian: Hammartun ungdomsskole) is a public lower secondary school situated in Lillehammer, Norway. The school educates around 489 students aged 13–16.The school started teaching in 1841. The buildings it occupies today were built in 1846 and later added to.It is situated very close to the center of Lillehammer, approximately 40 meters from the train station.

Lillehammer is a railway station located in downtown Lillehammer, Norway, on the Dovre Line. The station was opened in 1894 with the construction of the railway between Hamar Station and Tretten Station. The station got a major overhaul before the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. It is located 184.18 kilometers (114.44 mi) from Oslo Central Station and at 179.5 meters (589 ft) above mean sea level.Lillehammer is served by express trains to Trondheim and is the terminus of the regional trains north to Åndalsnes, and south to Oslo and Drammen. Express trains and regional trains to the north are operated by SJ Norge, regional trains to the south are operated by Vy. Bus service is available by Innlandstrafikk. On 1 June 1923, the restaurant was taken over by Norsk Spisevognselskap. The facilities were too small, but the company's capital was being used to build Opdal Turisthotell, and funding for expansion of the restaurant in Lillehammer was not available. In October 1937, the restaurant was closed and replaced by a kiosk from April 1938.

It is part of Innlandet Hospital Trust, part of the Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. Lillehammer Heliport, Innlandet Hospital (ICAO: ENLH) is an asphalt, ground helipad with a diameter of 18 meters (59 ft). It is located 20 meters (66 ft) from the emergency department and features a fuel tank.

St. Mary Church (Norwegian: Mariakirken på Lillehammer) is the church of the Catholic parish of St. Mary in Lillehammer the administrative capital and largest city of the province of Innlandet, in southern Norway. The parish includes Oppland County and Ringsaker municipality in Hedmark County. The church is situated in Suttestad, an area to the south of the city of Lillehammer. The parish also operates chapels of ease in Gjøvik, Oppa, and Dokka. The community was established in 1956, with worship taking place in a private chapel until 1970. In that year, the main church was constructed to plans by architect Carl Corwin. In 2010, the church was consecrated by Bishop Bernt Eidsvig, and the altar consecrated with relics.

Eidsiva Arena, also known as Kristins Hall, is an arena located at Stampesletta in Lillehammer, Norway. It consist of an ice rink, a combined handball and floorball court, and a curling rink. The venue, owned and operated by the Lillehammer Municipality, opened in 1988 and cost 65 million Norwegian krone (NOK) to build. One of the motivations for its construction was to help Lillehammer's bid to be selected as the host of the 1994 Winter Olympics. The ice rink has a capacity for 3,194 spectators and is the home rink of GET-ligaen hockey club Lillehammer IK. Eidsiva Arena is located next to the larger Håkons Hall, which opened in 1993. During the 1994 Winter Olympics, Kristins Hall was a training rink, and subsequently hosted the ice sledge hockey tournament at the 1994 Winter Paralympics. The venue also co-hosted Group B of the 1989 World Ice Hockey Championships. During the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics, it hosted the Curling and the Ice hockey competitions.
