KJIN (1490 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Houma, Louisiana. It is owned by Lisa D. Stiglets, under the corporate name JLE, Incorporated, and airs an urban adult contemporary radio format. The studios and offices are on West Main Street in Houma. KJIN is powered at 1,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna. The transmitter is on Fahey Street in Houma. The station can also be heard on FM translator K284CU, broadcasting at 250 watts on 104.7 MHz. KJIN uses its FM translator’s frequency in calling itself "104.7 Jamz."

Southdown High School was a segregated school for black students in Houma, Louisiana. It was a part of Terrebonne Parish School District It opened in 1946 as Houma Colored High School, and in 1949 it became Southtown High School. In 1952 grades 6-12 began classes and in 1953 the first class graduated. Its name changed to Southdown High School when it moved into its final location, a St. Charles Street building. Its books originated from the then-white Terrebonne High School and South Terrebonne High School. Eventually it became a grade 9-12 school. In 1969 the school closed following desegregation, and students moved to South Terrebonne High School and Terrebonne High School.

The Barry P. Bonvillain Civic Center, formerly known as the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Houma, Louisiana, USA, that hosts corporate functions, such as meetings, training seminars, conferences, as well as formal banquets, wedding receptions, group conventions, consumer shows, professional wrestling, family theater and other performing arts, concerts, graduations, religious services, indoor and outdoor festivals. It is also home to the annual Ducks Unlimited banquet in Terrebonne Parish. It opened on January 6, 1999. The 100,000-square-foot (9,300 m2) Civic Center is a multi-purpose building with a 5,000-seat arena, a theatrical / banquet area with a 2,500 person capacity, and a 10,000-square-foot (930 m2) meeting room area. The facility was built at a cost of $18.1 million. There are 3,200 retractable seats at the arena. It was home to the Houma Bayou Bucks of the National Indoor Football League from 2002 to 2004, and the Houma Conquerors of the Southern Indoor Football League in 2009.

Belle Grove, was a sugarcane plantation, on the banks of the Bayou Black, Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, built in 1847. In 1881, it was purchased by James M. McBride from the Marcellus Daunis heirs. It was demolished in the 1950s.

The Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales is a Catholic cathedral located in Houma, Louisiana, United States. Along with St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux it is the seat of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.

Houma ( HOH-mə) is the largest city in and the parish seat of Terrebonne Parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is also the largest principal city of the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux metropolitan statistical area. The city's government was absorbed by the parish in 1984, which currently operates as the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government.The population was 33,727 at the 2010 census, an increase of 1,334 over the 2000 census tabulation of 32,393. In 2020, the population estimates program determined 32,467 people lived in the city. At the 2020 census, its population rebounded to 33,406. Many unincorporated areas are adjacent to the city of Houma. The largest, Bayou Cane, is an urbanized area commonly referred to by locals as being part of Houma, but it is not included in the city's census counts, and is a separate census-designated place. If the populations of the urbanized census-designated places were included with that of the city of Houma, the total would exceed 60,000 residents.

The Diocese of Houma–Thibodaux (Latin: Dioecesis Humensis–Thibodensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in southeastern Louisiana. It covers Terrebonne, Lafourche, and the eastern part of St. Mary parishes, Morgan City, and Grand Isle in Jefferson Parish. Although a small diocese in terms of area (around 3,500 square miles), it has a large Catholic population, with approximately 126,000 Catholics out of a total population of 202,000. The diocese includes part of Cajun Louisiana.

St. Matthew's Episcopal Church is a parish of the Episcopal Church in Houma, Louisiana, in the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana. It is noted for its historic church at 243 Barrow Street, which was built in 1892 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The parish was chartered in 1855. In 1857, Robert Ruffin Barrow donated five lots on Barrow Street, where the first church was built in 1857. In 1888, fire destroyed the rectory and the church was deemed unsafe, leading to the construction of the current buildings 1890–92.On November 11, 2010, the church was destroyed in a fire and it was delisted from the National Register of Historic Places in March 31, 2015.

The Clifford Percival Smith House, also known as the Walker House, is a historic house in Houma, Louisiana, U.S.. It was built circa 1905 for Clifford Percival Smith and his wife, Clara. It belonged to the Smith family until 1986. By the late 1980s, it belonged to the Walker family.The house was designed in the Queen Anne architectural style, with Colonial Revival features. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 20, 1989.
