St. Luke's Episcopal Church is a historic church at 309 E. Baltimore Street in Jackson, Tennessee, United States. The congregation was formed in 1832, the first of five new Episcopal congregations planted in West Tennessee that year after Mrs. Mary Hayes Willis Gloster of La Grange had traveled to Nashville to ask Bishop James H. Otey to bring the Episcopal Church to West Tennessee. The church building dates to 1845, although it was only partially completed that year. It was consecrated by Bishop Otey on May 14, 1853.The church's bell and its hand-pumped organ were installed in 1852. The church has a brass altar cross that is a copy of a cross in a Westminster Abbey chapel. The cross and a brass alms basin were presented to St. Luke's in 1867 by Bishop Charles Quintard, who had received them as gifts from a duchess he met in England.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Carnegie Center for Arts and History is a museum and events venue in downtown Jackson, Tennessee, housed in the former Jackson Free Library. The Jackson Free Library, which opened in 1903, was the first public library in Jackson. Part of the funding for its construction came from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. After the Jackson-Madison County Library was built to replace it, the Free Library underwent a period of deterioration that ended in 1987 when the city undertook to restore it. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.The facility is now a venue for weddings and other special events. The museum in the Carnegie Center features exhibits on the Civil War.The museum was also formerly known as the Discovery Museum of West Tennessee.

Jackson is a city in and the county seat of Madison County, Tennessee, United States. Located 70 miles (110 km) east of Memphis, it is a regional center of trade for West Tennessee. Its total population was 68,205 as of the 2020 United States census. Jackson is the primary city of the Jackson, Tennessee metropolitan area, which is included in the Jackson-Humboldt, Tennessee combined statistical area. Jackson is Madison County's largest city, and the second-largest city in West Tennessee after Memphis. It is home to the Tennessee Supreme Court's courthouse for West Tennessee, as Jackson was the major city in the west when the court was established in 1834. In the antebellum era, Jackson was the market city for an agricultural area based on cultivation of cotton, the major commodity crop. Beginning in 1851, the city became a hub of railroad systems ultimately connecting to major markets in the north and south, as well as east and west. This was key to its development, attracting trade and many workers on the railroads in the late 19th century with the construction of railroads after the American Civil War. Through the 1960s, the city was served by 15 passenger trains daily, but industry restructuring reduced such service and caused the loss of jobs. The economy has adjusted to new businesses, with major manufacturing in the area.

The Captain H.P. Farrar House is a historical home located in Jackson, Tennessee. On April 15, 1982, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places for both its architectural and historical significance. It is located at the corner of Clay and W. Orleans Streets.

Riverside Cemetery is a cemetery located in Jackson, Tennessee. It is located few blocks south of the Madison County Courthouse, separated from Riverside Drive by a five-foot-high red brick wall. Riverside Cemetery was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on 9 May 2003.

The William Kirby Walsh House is a historic house in Jackson, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built in 1873-1875 for William Kirby Walsh, a co-founder of the First National Bank of Jackson. It was inherited by his daughter Jennie, who lived here with her husband, Benton O. Sullivan, the part-owner of Sullivan, McCall & Co., a clothing business. The house remained in the Walsh-Sullivan family until Jennie's death in 1935, when it was remodelled into four separate apartments.The house was designed in the Italianate architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since September 10, 1993.

The Murphy Hotel, also known as the Neely House, is a historical hotel in Jackson, Tennessee, U.S. It was designed in the Neoclassical architectural style and is the city's only remaining railroad hotel erection. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since February 11, 1993.

Rothrock Stadium is a stadium in Jackson, Tennessee. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of Lane College. Built in the 1930s, it originally served as the home field of the Union University Bulldogs, until Union ended its football program in the early 1950s. Rothrock has also served as the home field for Jackson High School (later Jackson Central-Merry High School). The location is also referred to as Lane Field.

Madison Academic Magnet High School is a public high school in the Jackson Madison County School System located on Lambuth Boulevard and formerly located on Allen Avenue, in Jackson, Tennessee. The former building was erected in 1928 as Jackson High School and underwent extensive renovations during the summer of 2003. The school was started in the autumn of 2003, replacing the former west campus of Jackson Central-Merry High School. The new building was constructed in late 2020 and opened in January 2022. The school has a graduating class of fewer than 125 students and does not offer special education classes. It is ranked #15 in Best High Schools in Tennessee according to U.S. News & World Report.The principal of Madison Academic is Chad Guthrie. The school's course offerings are honors and college-prep courses. Although students do apply for admission, no academic criteria influences selection, as selection is through a lottery system. Once enrolled, students must maintain a C average to remain at the school.

Lambuth University was a private Methodist university in Jackson, Tennessee. It was active from 1843 to 2011 and was supported by the Memphis Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The university began as the Memphis Conference Female Institute in 1843 and was later renamed in honor of Walter Russell Lambuth (1854–1921), a Methodist missionary who traveled globally. After several years of financial struggles, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools opted not to renew Lambuth's accreditation in 2011. Due to both the financial and accreditation problems, the Board of Trustees voted in April 2011 to cease operations two months later. Final commencement exercises were held April 30, 2011. The University of Memphis acquired the campus which is now the Lambuth branch campus of the University of Memphis.
