The John C. Bell House is a historic house located at 229 S. 22nd St. in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was designed by architect Horace Trumbauer in the Colonial Revival style and built in 1906. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The house was built for John C. Bell, who served as Attorney General of Pennsylvania. His sons, John C. Bell, Jr., who served as Lieutenant Governor and Governor of Pennsylvania as well as Chief Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and Bert Bell, co-founder of the Philadelphia Eagles and NFL Commissioner, lived in the house. In 1944 the house was sold by the Bell family and converted into apartments.A top-floor balcony collapsed on January 11, 2014, leaving one person dead and two others seriously injured.

Mandeville Place is a skyscraper currently proposed to be built in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 2401 Walnut St. It was scheduled to be completed in 2008, but construction had not yet begun as of September 2016. Upon completion, it will become the eighth tallest building in Philadelphia at 607 feet. It is designed by Richard Meier, who is famous for designing The Getty Center in Los Angeles. The building is being developed by Bedrock Group LLC. When completed, Mandeville Place will have 45 condominia on 43 floors with views of the rest of the Philadelphia skyline and an attached 8 story hotel.

Harris Building, also known as the Laird, Schober & Company Building, is a historic factory building located in the Logan Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1914–1915, and is an eight-story, "L"-shaped, reinforced concrete building clad in brick with terra cotta details. From 1914 to 1942, it housed Laird, Schober & Company, manufacturers of women's, children's, and misses' shoes. It housed a clothing manufacturer until 1985.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Bishop Mackay-Smith House, also known as the Franklin School, is a historic residence located in the Rittenhouse Square West neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1903–1904, and is a 3+1⁄2-story, brick and brownstone building. It has a flat, square facade front with a deep entry porch. It was designed by noted Philadelphia architect Theophilus Parsons Chandler, Jr. (1845–1928). It was built for Alexander Mackay-Smith, Bishop of Pennsylvania in 1911. He served as Coadjutor Bishop from 1902 to 1911.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Philadelphia's Baltimore & Ohio Railroad station – also known as the B & O station or Chestnut Street station – was the main passenger station for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Designed by architect Frank Furness in 1886, it stood at 24th Street and the Chestnut Street Bridge from 1888 to 1963.

Hockley Row – also known as Evans Row or Victoria House – is a set of four architecturally significant rowhouses, located in the Rittenhouse Square West neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Design of the row – 237, 239 & 241 South 21st Street and 2049 Locust Street – is attributed to architect Allen Evans, partner in the firm of Furness & Evans. They were built as speculative housing by Evans's father, 1884–86, and the architect made #237 (SE corner 21st & St. James Streets) his own residence. Each features a rusticated stone basement level, with three brick stories above, bay or box windows, wrought iron railings, elaborately shaped chimneys, and shed- and gabled-roofed dormers. The house at #237 features a projecting, two-story, shingled corner tower; the houses at #239 and #241 share an entrance stair. The house at the northeast corner of 21st & Locust Streets has its entrance from the south, and is numbered 2049 Locust Street. The houses were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry, also known as the First City Troop, is a unit of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. It is one of the oldest military units in the United States still in active service and is among the most decorated units in the U.S. Army. Accordingly, the Troop operates under a number of principles of self-governance unique in the U.S. military, including the election of unit members and officers, voluntarily forgoing pay for military service to the country, continuing to practice horse cavalry skills and tactics, and recruiting a high percentage of its members from veterans of prior active duty service across all branches (many of whom resign past officer commissions to join), as well as older civilian mid-career professionals. It is the only U.S. military unit that owns its own armory building, built with private funds in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. As of November 2017, the troop had 46 active members (33 drilling with the A-1/104th CAV), up from 35 in 2014.

Chestnut Street is a major historic street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was originally named Wynne Street because Thomas Wynne's home was there. William Penn renamed it Chestnut Street in 1684. It runs east–west from the Delaware River waterfront in downtown Philadelphia through Center City and West Philadelphia. The road crosses the Schuylkill River on the Chestnut Street Bridge. It serves as eastbound Pennsylvania Route 3 between 63rd and 33rd Streets. Stratton's Tavern was located on Chestnut Street near Sixth Street. When the citizens of Philadelphia were afraid that the British might attack the essentially unmanned Fort Mifflin, the secretary of the Young Men's Democratic Society called a meeting, to be held at Stratton's Tavern on March 20, 1813. The young men agreed to volunteer their services to defend the fort.

Walnut–Chancellor Historic District is a national historic district located in the Rittenhouse Square West neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It encompasses 51 contributing buildings located one block east of Rittenhouse Square. It includes 4 1/2- to 5-story monumental residences in the Italianate style; brick rowhouses dated to the 1860s-1870s, some with mansard roofs and dormers; and 19th century carriage houses. Located in the district is the Thomas Hockley House (1875), designed by architect Frank Furness (1839-1912).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Walnut Street is located in downtown Philadelphia and extends from the city's Delaware River waterfront through Center City and West Philadelphia. Walnut Street has been characterized as "the city's premier shopping district". A portion of the street commonly called Rittenhouse Row was ranked 12th in 2005 by Women's Wear Daily among its list of the most expensive retail streets in North America, with rents of $90 per square foot, and is home to several "upscale dining, retail and cultural" establishments. In 2013 rents had risen to an average of $107 a foot, a growth of 34% over 2012 and the largest percentage growth of any retail corridor in the country. Running parallel to Walnut Street, one or two blocks to the north (depending on whether the side street Sansom Street is counted), is Chestnut Street. Pennsylvania Route 3 westbound follows Walnut Street from 38th Street (U.S. Route 13) to its western terminus at the Cobbs Creek Parkway.

The Church of the New Jerusalem was a former nineteenth-century Swedenborgian church located in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 22nd and Chestnut Streets.The church was erected in 1881 to designs by Theophilus Parsons Chandler. When the congregation diminished, the church closed in the mid-1980s, and the structure was reused in 1989 as office space. The National Trust for Historic Preservation profiled the structure as a good example of adaptive reuse: "The congregation worked closely with the buyer of the property, the Preservation Fund, and the Philadelphia Historical Commission to devise a design that would be sensitive to the historic fabric." The project "added two floors for office space and enclosed the interior space facing the chancel with a floor to- ceiling glass wall. Updated HVAC, electrical systems, and emergency equipment installed." "In an area of many churches, the successful conversion to office space was a welcome sight for many of the neighbors who had feared an abandoned church building." The 1990 conversion by Mark B. Thompson Associates into 24,000 square feet (2,200 m2) of executive office space with room for expansion for Graduate Health System Corporate Headquarters, and later occupied by the advertising agency The Weightman Group, which is also gone. "Two balconies were added in four of the six bays, leaving the altar area an unchanged space for reception. A glass curtain wall was inserted in the interior to define the space and keep noise down. Additionally, a large spiral staircase and an elevator were placed to give access to all levels."

The First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia is a Unitarian Universalist congregation located at 2125 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a regional Community Center it sponsors cultural, educational, civic, wellness and spiritual activities. On June 12, 1796, twenty of Philadelphia's intellectual leaders formed the First Unitarian Society of Philadelphia, becoming the first continuously functioning church in the country to name itself "Unitarian". The founders were directed and encouraged by the Unitarian minister Joseph Priestley, and its first settled minister was the Rev. Dr. William Henry Furness.
