Duisburg-Wedau station

Duisburg-Bissingheim station is a railway station in the Bissingheim district in the town of Duisburg, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The Wedau Regatta Course is an artificial rowing/canoeing lake in Duisburg, Germany. The Course was built in 1935 and has hosted numerous international watersports events since its construction. Including the 1983 World Rowing Championships. It has also served as host of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships on a number of occasions. The Lake is 2,150m long and 135m wide and up to 9m deep. The Course has a permanent grandstand, TV camera positions, and is in the process of building a warm-up lane, which should mean it will again play host to international rowing events such as the Rowing World Cup. It is situated South of the main city next to the MSV Arena.

Duisburg-Entenfang is a railway station in southern Duisburg, Germany. The station was opened in 1982 and closed on December 15, 2019. The station lies on the eastern side of the freight sidings on the freight-only line to Düsseldorf. It is situated next to a small lake, after which the station is named. The single track ends in a buffer stop just a few metres shy of the platform end. Passenger access to the other side of the freight yard is provided by a dirt track leading to a bridge overpass. No other public transport serves the vicinity of the station.

PreZero Rheinlandhalle is an arena in Duisburg, Germany which was named by PreZero, part of the family-owned multinational retail group Schwarz Gruppe. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of Füchse Duisburg (English: Duisburg Foxes). It opened in 1970 and holds 4,800 people.

Wedaustadion was a multi-purpose stadium in Duisburg, Germany. It was the home ground for MSV Duisburg until the club moved to the new MSV-Arena after the 2003–04 season. The stadium held 30,112. It was built in 1921 and was the second biggest stadium in Germany at the time.

MSV-Arena, currently known for sponsorship purposes as the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena, is a football stadium in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, built in 2004. The stadium is the home of MSV Duisburg and holds 31,500 people. It was built on the site of the old Wedaustadion. The stadium was the venue of the 2005 World Games.

Duisburg Schlenk station is a station in city of Duisburg in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is at the intersection of the streets of Im Schlenk and Sternstraße. It is on the Cologne–Duisburg railway and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. The station was opened in 1970 or 1971.The station is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 1 (Dortmund–Solingen) on week days every 30 minutes during the day between Essen and Düsseldorf.It is also served by bus route 930 and 931, operated by Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft at 30-minute intervals.

Duisburg-Buchholz station is a station in the suburb of Buchholz of the city of Duisburg in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Cologne–Duisburg railway and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station was opened in 1970 or 1971.The station is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 1 (Dortmund–Solingen) on week days every 30 minutes during the day between Essen and Düsseldorf.It is also served by two bus routes operated by Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft at 30-minute intervals: 934 and 940.

The Duisburg Zoo, founded on 12 May 1934, is one of the largest zoological gardens in Germany. It is especially well known for its dolphinarium and, since 1994, for breeding koalas. Far less well known are the breeding successes in other areas, for example, with fossas (carnivorous mammals from Madagascar) and red river hogs. The zoo is located in the northern part of the Duisburg urban forest on the border with Mülheim on the Ruhr. Federal highway A 3 divides the zoo into western and an eastern parts, which are joined by a leafy country bridge. The highway is scarcely noticeable to the visitors.

The Botanischer Garten Kaiserberg (2 hectares) is a botanical garden located at Schweizer Straße 24, Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The garden was established in 1890 and primarily cultivates native plants, but also includes exotic flora such as Araucaria, Ginkgo biloba, Sequoiadendron. It is open daily without charge, and should not be confused with the Botanischer Garten Duisburg-Hamborn, another botanical garden in Duisburg.

On 24 July 2010, a crowd disaster at the 2010 Love Parade electronic dance music festival in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, caused the deaths of 21 people from suffocation as attendees sought to escape a ramp leading to the festival area. At least 500 more were injured.The Love Parade was a free-access music festival and parade that originated in 1989 in Berlin. The parade featured stages, but also had floats with music, DJs, and dancers moving through the audience. The Love Parade in Duisburg was the first time that the festival had been held in a closed-off area. Between 200,000 and 1.4 million people were reported to be attending the event and 3,200 police were on hand.As a consequence of the disaster, the organizer of the festival announced that no further Love Parades would be held and that the festival was permanently cancelled. Criminal charges were brought against ten employees of the city of Duisburg and of the company that organized the event, but eventually rejected by the court due to the prosecutors' failure to establish evidence for the alleged acts of negligence and their causal connection to the deaths. On 18 April 2017 the Oberlandesgericht Düsseldorf stated that it would be reopening court proceedings for prosecution of 10 people involved in planning the event, accusing them of negligent homicide and mayhem. The first hearing of the trial was held on 8 December 2017. The trial was discontinued in May 2020, because it was adjudged that no individual did such a great wrong that ten years of trial were not already enough punishment.

Duisburg Hauptbahnhof is a railway station in the city of Duisburg in western Germany. It is situated at the meeting point of many important national and international railway lines in the Northwestern Ruhr valley.
