Kirkstall Bridge

Kirkstall was a railway station in Kirkstall, City of Leeds, West Yorkshire. It was located between Kirkstall Forge and Armley Canal Road on the right bank of the River Aire.

Kirkstall Brewery is a complex of Grade II listed buildings built in the 19th century on either side of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

The Abbey Light Railway was a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway in Kirkstall, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Built by enthusiasts, the Railway ran from the nearby Bridge Road commercial area into the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey, operating most Sundays.

The Kirkstall Training Ground, historically known as Clarence Fields, is a training facility in Leeds owned by Leeds Rhinos. The training facility is mostly used by Leeds Rhinos and is also used by Leeds Tykes (having originally been the home of their predecessors Headingley RUFC), National Conference League side Milford Marlins and Leeds City College Rugby League team. It was used by Bramley RLFC as their home ground in 1995-96 following the sale of McLaren Field. The ground and the lower floors of the buildings on site suffered significant damage in the Boxing Day Floods of 2015. Whilst the ground was repaired and cleaned, the rugby teams used other venues around the city. Leeds Rhinos manager, Gary Hetherington, suggested that the eventual clean up cost would be £6 million and it would not be until June 2016 at the earliest before the training centre could be used again.

Kirkstall is a north-western suburb of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, on the eastern side of the River Aire. The area sits in the Kirkstall ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds West parliamentary constituency, represented by Rachel Reeves. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 21,709.To the west is Bramley, to the east is Headingley, and to the north are Hawksworth and West Park. Kirkstall is around 2 miles (3.2 km) from the city centre and is close to the University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University. Its main visitor attraction is Kirkstall Abbey. Another landmark is St. Stephen's Church designed by the architect Robert Dennis Chantrell. Richard Oastler, a reformer and fighter for children's rights, is buried in a crypt under the church's east end. In the 12th century Cistercian monks founded Kirkstall Abbey, a daughter house of Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire. The Abbey House Museum opposite the abbey tells the story of the community and the town. Henry De Lacey, Baron of Pontefract, gave the land for the foundation of the abbey, and Kirkstall has a few roads named in his memory. The Abbey Light Railway, which connected the grounds of the abbey with the Bridge Road commercial area, was closed down in 2012.

Kirkstall Abbey is a ruined Cistercian monastery in Kirkstall, north-west of Leeds city centre in West Yorkshire, England. It is set in a public park on the north bank of the River Aire. It was founded c. 1152. It was disestablished during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII. The picturesque ruins have been drawn and painted by artists such as J. M. W. Turner, Thomas Girtin and John Sell Cotman. Kirkstall Abbey was acquired by the Leeds Corporation as a gift from Colonel North and opened to the public in the late 19th century. The gatehouse became a museum, which is now part of the Leeds Museums & Galleries group.

Abbey House Museum in Kirkstall, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England is housed in the gatehouse of the ruined 12th-century Kirkstall Abbey, and is a Grade II* listed building. The house is 3 miles (4.8 km) north west of Leeds city centre on the A65 road. It is part of the Leeds Museums & Galleries group.

St. Stephen's Church is a Church of England church in Kirkstall, Leeds. The church has been Grade II listed since 5 August 1976.

Gotts Park Mansion, formerly known as Armley House, is a Grade II listed country house in Armley Park, 3 miles from Leeds city centre. Formerly the home of industrialist Benjamin Gott, it is now the home of Gotts Park Golf Club. The mansion was built in 1781 for Leeds merchant, Thomas Woolrick. Gott, a wealthy mill-owner, first leased the mansion then bought it in 1812. Gott commissioned Humphry Repton to improve the house and landscape. The mansion was then remodelled, partly to Repton's plan, by Robert Smirke, architect of the British Museum. Thus it became the first Greek Revival house built in West Yorkshire.Gott's descendants lived in the mansion until the 1900s when, in 1903 it was rented by the Leeds Association for the Prevention and Cure of Tuberculosis and in 1904 opened and named The Leeds Hospital for Consumptives. After the end of World War I, it was used as a hospital. In 1928, the building and grounds were taken over by Leeds City Council on a 999-year lease, on the condition that they be used as a leisure space for the people of Leeds. Gotts Park Golf Club opened to the public on 8 April 1933.

Headingley railway station (formerly known as Headingley and Kirkstall railway station until some point early in the 20th century) is off Kirkstall Lane in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, on the Harrogate Line, 3 miles (5 km) north west of Leeds. The station was opened in 1849 by the Leeds & Thirsk Railway, later part of the Leeds Northern Railway to Northallerton.

Hawksworth is a small, early twentieth-century council estate in the Kirkstall ward in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is situated on a hill between West Park and Horsforth and is circled by Butcher Hill, the A65 and Vesper Road. Hawksworth lies within the LS5 Kirkstall postcode area and is commonly known as The Hawk, The Hawky or The Hawky Estate.

Armley Park is a large public park located next to Stanningley Road in Armley, on the outskirts of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, Northern England. The park stretches from Armley down the hill to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, near the canal the park turns to dense woodland. On its north-west side Armley Park borders Gotts Park, which is designated as a Grade II Park and Garden. It is named after industrialist Benjamin Gott and contains his former home, Gotts Park Mansion, now the clubhouse of Gotts Park Golf Club.Armley Park has many amenities, including football pitches, tennis courts, bowling greens, a children's playground and gardens. There are also several Grade II listed features including the gate piers at the entrance on Stanningley Road, the war memorial, and the fountain and associated plaques.
