Melhus Church (Norwegian: Melhus kirke), also known as "the Gauldal Cathedral", is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Melhus municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Storsand, about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of the village of Melhus. It is the church for the Melhus parish which is part of the Gauldal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The gray, stone church was built in a cruciform design in 1892 using plans drawn up by the architect Carl Julius Bergstrøm. The church seats about 500 people. The churchyard contains a cemetery.The church contains a controversial oil painting, which has been thought to be a portrait of Petter Dass.

Melhus Station (Norwegian: Melhus stasjon) is a railway station in the village of Melhus in the municipality of Melhus in Trøndelag county, Norway. The station is located on the Dovre Line, about 21 kilometres (13 mi) south of Trondheim Central Station (Trondheim S) and about 531 kilometres (330 mi) north of Oslo Central Station (Oslo S). The station sits at an elevation of 24 metres (79 ft) above sea level. It is served by local trains to Røros Station. The station was opened 1993 and is somewhat south of the old station in Melhus.

Melhus (or Nedre Melhus) is the administrative centre of Melhus municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located in the lower Gauldalen valley, along the river Gaula, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south of the city of Trondheim. The 2.88-square-kilometre (710-acre) village has a population (2018) of 6,393 and a population density of 2,220 inhabitants per square kilometre (5,700/sq mi).The village lies along the European route E06 highway as well as the Dovrebanen railway line. The railroad stops at the Melhus Station in the central part of the village. The historic Melhus Church is located about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) south of Melhus in the village of Storsand. Melhus is the largest urban area in the municipality, so it has a mall, many stores and businesses, restaurants, banks, a medical centre, a school, and the municipal government offices.

Jarlshola (English: The Cave of the Jarl) is a small cave in the municipality of Melhus in Trøndelag county, Norway. The cave is near the small farm of Rimul in the village of Melhus. It is thought to be the hiding place of Håkon Sigurdsson (also known as Hákon Sigurðsson, Hákon Earl) and Tormod Kark (or Þormóðr Karkr, the slave of the Jarl) on their last night before the infamous murder at Rimul.

Rimul or Romol is a farm in the municipality of Melhus in Trøndelag county, Norway. The farm lies near the western part of the village of Melhus. It was the scene of the murder of Håkon Sigurdsson (also known as Hákon Sigurðsson or Hákon Earl) by his slave Tormod Kark (Þormóðr Karkr), as described in the Saga of king Olav Tryggvason in Snorri Sturluson's Heimskringla. The farm is still in operation today, hundreds of years after the murder. There is a big stone lying nearby, thought maybe to be scene of Olaf's speech. This is, however, not proven. The events are the theme of the opera Thora paa Rimol which was composed in 1894, but not performed until 2002 in Melhus on the occasion of the village's thousandth anniversary.

Trøndertun folkehøgskole is a "frilynt folkehøgskole" (not Christian) in Gimse in the village of Melhus in Melhus municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The school annually welcomes about 150 students and is owned by "Gauldal Høgskulelag".Gunnar Andreas Berg is teacher of guitar, Espen Berg teacher of jazz and former Trøndertun student Hans Magnus Ryan (Snah) from Motorpsycho is a guest teacher at the school. Other teachers at the school are professionally strong with experience as performing artists.

Leinstrand is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The 46-square-kilometre (18 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality of Leinstrand encompassed the south-central part of what is now the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county. The administrative centre was located in the village of Heimdal, just west of the border with Tiller municipality. The local Leinstrand Church was built in 1673.

Klett is a village in Trondheim municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located in the Leinstrand area of the borough of Heimdal. The village areas of Heimdal and Tiller lie to the northeast, the Byneset area lies to the west, and the village of Melhus lies to the south. Most of the area surrounding the village is farmland. To the south of Klett is the junction called Klett Crossing (Klettkrysset) where the European route E06 and European route E39 highways intersect. The roundabout was built in 1988. It is the site of the most traffic accidents in all of the old Sør-Trøndelag county. It was also long famous for being the only roundabout in Norway with yellow road-signs. This was a test by the Norwegian road administration, inspired by Sweden. A renovation of the intersection is scheduled with a startup during summer 2019 and an estimated completion during winter 2020.

Leinstrand Church (Norwegian: Leinstrand kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Trondheim municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Leinstrand area in the city of Trondheim. It is one of the churches for the Byneset og Leinstrand parish which is part of the Heimdal og Byåsen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The red, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1673 by the architect Ole Jonsen Hindrum. The church seats about 200 people.

Vassfjellet is a mountain on the border of the municipalities of Melhus and Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The eastern side of the mountain hosts a ski resort, Vassfjellet Skisenter. The 710-metre (2,330 ft) tall mountain lies about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) southeast of the village of Melhus. At the top there is a radio and television transmitting tower, which extends 220 metres (720 ft) above the top of the tall mountain. A road leading to the top has been built for maintenance access to the tower. This road starts in the village of Kvål in Melhus, but is closed to public vehicle access. It is however an excellent route for hiking. The Vassfjell Chapel is located on the northeast side of the mountain in Klæbu.

Nordstern (en: "North Star"), sometimes referred to as Neu Drontheim (en: "New Trondheim"), was the Nazi plan for the creation of a new German metropolis in German-occupied Norway during World War II. It was planned to have a population of around 250,000–300,000 inhabitants.The building site of the city was located 15–20 km (9.3–12.4 mi) southwest of the Norwegian city of Trondheim. Because of the significant strategic importance of Trondheim Fjord to the German military, it was to be constructed in conjunction with a major navy and military base that would give Germany unprecedented maritime control over the North Atlantic area, a move strongly supported by Großadmirals Erich Raeder and Karl Dönitz.German leader Adolf Hitler envisioned the city as "a German Singapore", and it became one of his favorite architectural projects. During the war itself, the port city was already turned into a major base for German U-boat submarines, Dora I.

Kattem is a neighborhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The area is located in the borough of Heimdal, south of Lundåsen, north of the village of Klett, and southwest of the village of Heimdal. The residential areas were built during the 1970s. It is the site of the Kattem IL sports team.
