Rosedale Field

Rosedale is a neighbourhood in central Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was formerly the estate of William Botsford Jarvis, and so named by his wife, granddaughter of William Dummer Powell, for the wild roses that grew there in abundance. It is located north of Downtown Toronto and is one of its oldest suburbs. It is also one of the wealthiest and most highly priced neighbourhoods in Canada. Rosedale has been ranked the best neighbourhood in Toronto to live in by Toronto Life. It is known as the area where the city's 'old money' lives, and is home to some of Canada's richest and most famous citizens including Gerry Schwartz, founder of Onex Corporation, Adrienne Clarkson, the 26th Governor General of Canada, and her husband, the author John Ralston Saul, as well as David Thomson, 3rd Baron Thomson of Fleet of the Thomson Corporation, the latter of whom is the richest man in Canada.Rosedale's boundaries consist of the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks to the north, Yonge Street to the west, Aylmer Avenue and Rosedale Valley Road to the south, and Bayview Avenue to the east. The neighbourhood is within the City of Toronto's Rosedale-Moore Park neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is divided into a north and south portion by the Park Drive Ravine.

The University of Toronto President's Estate is a 3.5-acre (1.4 ha) property with a 32-room residence for the president of the University of Toronto. It is located at 93 Highland Avenue in the Rosedale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The property overlooks the Park Drive Reservation Ravine formed by Yellow Creek and goes from Highland Avenue halfway down to the floor of the ravine. The house was built between 1908 and 1910 by Toronto architects Wickson and Gregg. It was the home of gold-mining magnate David Dunlap and his philanthropist wife, Jessie (who donated the David Dunlap Observatory to the University of Toronto in 1935 in honour of her late husband). After Mrs. Dunlap's death in 1946, the house went through one owner before being purchased in 1956 by U of T as a suitable residence for its president.

Branksome Hall is an independent day and boarding school for girls in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and a university-preparatory school. All three IB programs are offered: the Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (DP). It goes from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.

The Sir Ernest MacMillan family home is a Toronto heritage property located at 115 Park Road, in the Rosedale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was the family home of Sir Ernest and Lady MacMillan (née Elsie Keith), and it was constructed during 1931 and 1932. In 1931, MacMillan and his wife commissioned Page and Steele architects of Toronto for the construction of a new home at 115 Park Road. The family home was later designated a Heritage Property, as adopted by Toronto City Council, on January 22, 1979. The house is also included in the South Rosedale Heritage Conservation District. South Rosedale was designated as a Heritage Conservation District under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act, and also enacted by Toronto City Council, on February 7, 2003.

Moore Park is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is one of Toronto's most affluent neighbourhoods. Toronto Life ranked the Rosedale-Moore Park neighbourhood as the best neighbourhood to live in Toronto. It lies along both sides of St. Clair Avenue East between the Vale of Avoca ravine and Moore Park ravine (formerly Spring Valley ravine). The northern boundary is Mount Pleasant Cemetery and the southern the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks. The neighbourhood takes its name from its developer, John T. Moore. To encourage buyers, he built two bridges in 1891: the original steel bridge on St. Clair over the Vale of Avoca, and the original wooden bridge on Moore Avenue over Spring Valley ravine. He also helped establish railway service to the neighbourhood, overseeing the connection of the area to the Toronto Belt Line Railway, a commuter railway. The development was marketed to the wealthy, and the neighbourhood remains wealthy. Moore Park was annexed by the City of Toronto on December 16, 1912.Census tract 0125.00 of the 2016 Canadian census covers Moore Park. Average income is CA$247,040, one of the highest incomes of all Toronto neighbourhoods. The neighbourhood’s average income is comparable, if not higher than parts of neighbouring Rosedale.

Yellow Creek is a partially-buried southeasterly tributary of the Don River in Toronto. It has also been known at different times as Silver Creek, Sylvan Creek, and Rosedale Brook. The former source of Yellow Creek begins near Sheppard West station in the Downsview neighbourhood. Most of the creek and its sources are buried underground in storm sewers until they emerge into Avoca Ravine in the Deer Park neighbourhood and continue their way to the Don River.

Government House was the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada and Ontario, Canada. Four buildings were used for this purpose, none of which exist today, making Ontario one of four provinces not to have an official vice-regal residence.

David A. Balfour Park is an urban park in the Deer Park neighbourhood of Toronto near the intersection of Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue. The park made up of 20.5 hectares of green space consisting of the greenery-covered Rosehill Reservoir and the entirety of the Vale of Avoca with its system of trails.The park is named after David A. Balfour, a former Toronto city Councillor.

Integral House is a private residence located at 194 Roxborough Drive in the Rosedale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The project was commissioned by mathematician James Stewart as a residence incorporating a performance space, and was designed by Brigitte Shim and Howard Sutcliffe of the Toronto architectural firm Shim-Sutcliffe Architects. The name of the house is derived from the mathematical integral symbol, commonly used in calculus; Stewart's wealth derived from his authorship of widely used calculus textbooks. It has won several architectural awards, including a 2012 Governor-General's Medal in Architecture. Glenn D. Lowry, director of the Museum of Modern Art, said of Integral House, "I think it's one of the most important private houses built in North America in a long time."The house went on sale in the autumn of 2015 after Stewart's passing in December 2014. It was sold in 2016 by Sotheby's. At that time it had been speculated that the buyers were musicians Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida, although when the house was re-listed for sale in 2019, it was reported that the buyer had been Mark Machin, a British banker and then-president of the CPP Investment Board who has purchased the property for C$15 million in 2016 and lived there with his wife and children. The house was sold in 2020 for a slightly-higher C$18.5 million.

Following the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837 Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada Sir George Arthur directed the construction of a Sherbourne Blockhouse, and a ring of six other blockhouses -- to guard the approaches to Toronto in case there was another rebellion. The Sherbourne Blockhouse was located at the northern end of Sherbourne Street, at the current intersection with Bloor, just south of the Rosedale Ravine. The blockhouses were two stories tall, and designed to accommodate up to 44 soldiers. The two stories were at 45 degrees to one another—a design intended to make it easier to observe in all directions. Construction of the blockhouses was budgeted at 330 British Pounds. They were completed in 1838. By 1850 they were staffed by a skeleton crew of former soldiers, who served as caretakers. The Spadina Blockhouse was demolished sometime before 1854. The Yonge Blockhouse was demolished in 1865. The Sherbourne Blockhouse was demolished in 1875. Numerous sketches of it have survived to the current day.

The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club hosted the first ever National Tennis Championship of Canada and has hosted 2 Davis Cup ties. Established in 1874 by I.F. Hellmuth and located in Rosedale, the club that year played host to a tournament (for gentlemen's singles) that over time became the Canadian Open tennis championship, now known as the Rogers Cup. The Toronto LTC also played host to the first Davis Cup tie played in Canada, in July 1921. Australia swept aside Canada 5-0, with Canadian Henri Laframboise taking the only two sets dropped by the James Anderson-led Aussies. Six years later to the month, Jack Wright and Willard Crocker-led Canada defeated Cuba 3-2 in an American Zone semi-final contest. Both Davis Cup ties were competed on red clay. The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club expanded its facilities in 1960 to include squash.
