Civitavecchia (pronounced [ˌtʃivitaˈvɛkkja]; meaning "ancient town") is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Italian region of Lazio. A sea port on the Tyrrhenian Sea, it is located 60 kilometres (37 miles) west-north-west of Rome. The harbour is formed by two piers and a breakwater, on which stands a lighthouse.

The Diocese of Civitavecchia-Tarquinia (Latin: Dioecesis Centumcellarum-Tarquiniensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Lazio, Italy. It was established under this name in 1986. The diocese is immediately exempt to the Holy See and not part of an ecclesiastical province.

Civitavecchia railway station (Italian: Stazione di Civitavecchia) serves the town and comune of Civitavecchia, the sea port for Rome, in the region of Lazio, central Italy. Opened in 1859, it forms part of the Pisa–Livorno–Rome railway. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Train services are operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.

The Monti della Tolfa (or Tolfa Mountains) are a volcanic group in the Anti-Apennines of the northern part of the Lazio region of Central Italy. They are bounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea coast to the west, by the Monti Sabatini to the east, and by the Monti Cimini and the Mignone river to the north. Tolfa and Allumiere are the principal towns. The highest peak is the Monte Maggiore (633 m above sea level). The Monti della Tolfa consists mostly of trachytes formed during the Eocene and the early Pleistocene. The mountains are an important source of alunite, from which alum is extracted. The mineral was discovered there in 1461, and extensively mined until the mine closed in 1941, after almost 500 years; for much of this time it was the principal source of alum in Europe. The Tolfetano breed of horse originates in the area, and takes its name from it.

Aquae Caeretanae were large and elaborate ancient Roman thermal baths at Pian della Carlotta, about 2 km north west of the village of Sasso in the province Lazio. They used the natural hot springs there and are located in a beautiful rural location overlooking the sea. They were in the territory of the ancient Etruscan city of Caere from which their name was derived. They were only rediscovered in 1987. Their existence was known from Strabo (63 BC-24 AD) who wrote: "They were so famous as to be more populated than Caere itself". Livy (59 BC-17 AD) also noted that wonders occurred during the Second Punic War which led to the red colouring of the waters of the fons Herculis at the Aquae Caeretanae as though mixed with blood. Caelius Aurelianus, physician and supporter of hydrotherapy, wrote in the 5th century AD that they were the hottest thermal waters in Italy.

Castrum Novum (new fort) was an ancient Roman town now located in the suburbs of Santa Marinella, to the north of Cape Linaro, Italy. Nearby on Mount Guardiole, 1.5 km from the coast, was an Etruscan settlement.Its location was only confirmed in recent decades and excavations since 2010 have revealed much new information on the town.

Allumiere (Romanesco: La Lumiera) is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Rome in the Italian region of Latium, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Rome. Allumiere is traditionally divided into the contrade of Burò, Ghetto, La Bianca, Nona, Polveriera, and Sant'Antonio.

The Tomb of the Bulls (Italian: Tomba dei tori) is an Etruscan tomb in the Necropolis of Monterozzi near Tarquinia, Lazio, Italy. It was discovered in 1892 and has been dated back to either 540–530 BC or 530–520 BC. According to an inscription Arath Spuriana apparently commissioned the construction of the tomb. It is named after the two bulls which appear on one of its frescoes. It is the earliest example of a tomb with complex frescoes in the necropolis, and the stylistic elements are derived from Ionian Greek culture. Along with the frescoes of the Tomb of the Whipping these paintings are relatively rare examples of explicit sexual scenes in Etruscan art, which were far more common in Ancient Greek art.Like other Etruscan tombs, it would originally have contained many grave goods, especially Etruscan pottery, now removed.

Gravisca (Cravsca in Etruscan and Graviscae Latin) was the port of the Etruscan city of Tarquinii, situated 8 km west of the city center.The Etruscan settlement, occupied ca. sixth to third centuries BC, had four principal occupational phases from ca. 600 to 250 B.C. It was superseded by the establishment of a colonia of Roman citizenship at the site in 181 BC. The port functioned as an emporion and there is ample evidence for merchants and perhaps Greek artisans based at the site. The cults of numerous Greek gods, including Aphrodite, Hera, Demeter, and Apollo, are attested. The port is mentioned by name in book 10, line 23 of the Aeneid.

The geography of Italy includes the description of all the physical geographical elements of Italy. Italy borders Switzerland (698 km or 434 mi), France (476 km or 296 mi), Austria (404 km or 251 mi) and Slovenia (218 km or 135 mi). San Marino (37 km or 23 mi) and Vatican City (3.4 km or 2.1 mi) are enclaves. The total border length is 1,836.4 km (1,141.1 mi). Including islands, Italy has a coastline of 7,900 km (4,900 mi) on the Adriatic Sea, Ionian Sea, Tyrrhenian Sea, Ligurian Sea, Sea of Sardinia and Strait of Sicily. The Italian geographical region, in its traditional and most widely accepted extent, has an area of approximately 324,000 square kilometres (125,000 sq mi), which is greater than the area of the entire Italian Republic (301,230 square kilometres or 116,310 square miles). The Italian geographical region also includes territories that are sovereign parts of Croatia, France, Slovenia and Switzerland, as well as the four small independent states of the Principality of Monaco, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of San Marino and the Vatican City State (the Holy See).

The Giardino delle Orchidee Spontanee del Mediterraneo is a botanical garden operated by the World Wide Fund for Nature within its Palo Laziale nature reserve. It is located Via Palo Laziale 2, Palo Laziale, Ladispoli, Province of Rome, Lazio, Italy. The collection focuses on native orchid species. It began in 1984 with a donation of 10 Sardinian species from the Orto Botanico dell'Università di Cagliari, and currently contains about 350 specimens representing some 60 species from the genera Ophrys and Orchis, including Orchis palustris, Ophrys apulica, Ophrys lunulata, and Ophrys ciliata, as well as Asphodeline lutea, Dactylorhiza romana, Inula candida, Iris pseudopumila, and Spiranthes aestivalis.
