World Cup Bridge

The Anyangcheon is a river in Gyeonggi-do and Seoul, South Korea. It has its source on the slopes of Mount Gwanggyo in the city of Uiwang and flows north, through the city of Gunpo, where a major cleanup operation saw several species of birds return to the area in 2005. Here, though, the water table remains depleted. The river then flows through Anyang City, where it is met by its major tributary, the Hakuicheon stream. From here, it loops around to the west before continuing north to the border with Gwangmyeong City. As the river passes to the west of Mount Gwanak, it forms the border between Gwangmyeong and Seoul, where it is lined on the Gwangmyeong side with rape fields and cherry blossom trees. After the stream is joined near Guil Station from the west by the Mokgamcheon stream, which forms another border between Gwangmyeong and Seoul, it is then totally within the capital. Here, it is also joined from the east by the Dorimcheon and passes through a conservation zone for migratory birds which was established after a 2005 cleanup operation, whereafter it joins the Han. Most of the length of the river has a path alongside providing easy access, the only parts without this lying in Uiwang. Seoul City Council has embarked on a programme of exclusive cycle path creation alongside its waterways, including the Anyangcheon, to be completed in 2010.

The Seongsan Bridge (Korean: 성산대교) is the 12th bridge that crosses the Han River in South Korea and connects the districts of Mapo District and Yeongdeungpo District. The bridge was completed in 1980. It is one of 31 bridges over the Han River and has a length of about 1400 meters. It is popular with photographers because it is aesthetic and slightly thicker than the other bridges.

The Millennium Gate (Native name: 천년의 문, Nickname: Seoul Ring) was envisioned in 2000 as the world's first mega-sized ring-shaped architectural structure. It was planned to be erected along the Han River in Sangam-dong, Seoul, in conjunction with the new millennium (Millennium), and the 2002 Korea-Japan FIFA World Cup (2002 FIFA World Cup).

The World Cup Fountain was a fountain built to commemorate the 2002 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by South Korea and Japan. The World Cup Fountain is located in the Han River in Seoul, South Korea, between the World Cup Stadium and Seonyudo Park. The fountain jets water at a height of 202 metres (663 ft), a symbolic gesture to the year the FIFA World Cup was held in Seoul. The fountain is taller than the Gateway Geyser, or the fountain in Fountain Hills, Arizona or the Port Fountain in Karachi, Pakistan. For comparison, the Washington Monument in Washington D.C. is 169 meters tall.The fountain does not flow constantly. It can only be seen for a few hours a day and weather permitting.

Seoul Ring is the English nickname for the Millennium Gate project, which was planned to be built along the Han River (Korea) in Peace Park, Mapo District, Seoul. It is also the abbreviation for the Seoul Ring Zero, a giant Ferris wheel that was planned to be constructed in Sky Park, Mapo District, Seoul. Although the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced the Seoul Ring Zero, now renamed to Seoul Twin Eye, and the project is underway in Peace Park, Mapo District, Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced they would continue to use the name 'Seoul Ring' due to the difficulty in pronunciation.

Sinmokdong is a railway station on Line 9 of the Seoul Subway.

ROKS Seoul (FF-952) is the second ship of the Ulsan-class frigate in the Republic of Korea Navy. She is named after the city, Seoul.

Nanjido (Nan(lily) Ji(mushroom) Do(island)) (Korean: 난지도 蘭芝島) was an island on a branch of the Han River of Seoul, Korea. In the end of the 1970s, a dyke was constructed around the edge of Nanjido, and it became Seoul's official dump site. Between 1978 and 1993, Nanjido's accumulation of garbage grew quickly, increasing to 3,000 truck loads of waste per day and eventually creating a pyramid of refuse 98m high and occupying 2,715,900 square meters of land, thirty-four times larger than The Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Currently, Korea has the biggest rate of per capita garbage production in the world (2.3 kg/person).Nanjido stopped being a waste dumpsite in 1993 when city officials realized that with Seoul's expansion, the site could no longer be designated as marginal. By that time, Nanjido had accumulated 91,972,000 cubic meters of garbage—the equivalent of continuous dumping by 13,000,000 8.5-ton trucks for 15 years. Nanjido might be world's tallest waste dumpsite.The garbage on Nanjido is no longer exposed. After closing it down, the city designated the site as an "ecology park" and began preparations to cover the mountain of garbage with trees. It is currently undergoing a land stabilization process that is expected to be completed by the year 2020. The walls were constructed deep into the ground to prevent the seepage of contaminated water into the Han River and streams. Methane and other gases were channeled into wells to provide heating to the World Cup Stadium and the surrounding residential district. Now the whole area of 2.8 million square meters was transformed into five different theme parks, welcoming 9.8 million visitors every year. The five parks are equipped with conservation facilities for further revival of diversified ecological system.

Yongwang Mountain is a mountain in Seoul Yangcheon District Mok-dong, South Korea. Its height is 78 metres (256 ft), and it is also called Umji Mountain.

The Seoul World Cup Stadium (Korean: 서울월드컵경기장), also known as Sangam Stadium, is a stadium used mostly for association football matches. The venue is located in 240, World Cup-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It was built for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and opened on November 10, 2001. It is currently the second largest stadium in South Korea after Seoul Olympic Stadium, and is the 2nd largest rectangular stadium in Asia. It was designed to represent the image of a traditional Korean kite. The stadium has a capacity of 66,704 seats, including 816 seats for VIP, 754 seats for press and 75 private Sky Box rooms, each with a capacity for 12 to 29 persons. Due to table seats installation, capacity was reduced from 66,806 seats to 66,704 seats in February 2014. Since the World Cup it has been managed by the Seoul Metropolitan Facilities Management Corporation (SMFMC). FC Seoul moved to the Seoul World Cup Stadium in 2004.
