İstanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) is one of the many private universities located in Istanbul, Turkey. It has a total of four campuses all in close proximity to each other in the western part of Istanbul. The three campuses are located in Şirinevler, İncirli, Basın Ekspres and Ataköy This non-profit University was founded in 1997; its Industrial Engineering started in the 1997–98 academic year. The university has five schools and two vocational schools. In 2009, Global Political Trends Center, a policy oriented research (think tank) institution, was founded under the auspices of the university.Istanbul Kültür University conducts its academic and scientific activities with a total of 59 departments and programs, in eight faculties, namely Faculty of Science and Letters, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and Design, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Health Sciences, and in two vocational schools, namely Vocational School and Vocational School of Justice. World Trade Center Istanbul (WTCI) (Turkish: İstanbul Dünya Ticaret Merkezi, İDTM) is a service company established in 1982 and based in Yeşilköy, Istanbul, Turkey, which, to promote international commerce and world trade, provides commercial information and market research services, organizes trade delegation programs, operates fair areas and offers office, convention and meeting halls, runs hotels within its organization. It is owned by Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Bakırköy Municipality, Istanbul Chamber of Industry, Istanbul Commodity Exchange as well as Economic Development Foundation of Turkey.The complex of World Trade Center Istanbul covers an area of 500,000 m2 (120 acres) situated next to the Atatürk International Airport. It has a subway station and a vast parking lot for 6,000 cars in total.

On 6 October 2016, at around 15:50 (UTC+3), a bomb attached to a motorcycle blasted in a terrorist attack in Yenibosna neighborhood of Bahçelievler district, Istanbul, Turkey. The bomb targeted a police office, however, either on purpose or not, the bomb was exploded before getting closer to the police station and eventually injured 10 civilians in the area, putting 1 in critical condition.The neighborhood is one of the closest ones to the Atatürk Airport and Istanbul Inner Beltway and is a neighborhood where Bosniak residents of the city mainly live. The attack was perpetrated by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The assailant, Felek Gün and co-conspirators Ekrem Gün and Serdar Gün along with 3 more suspects involved in the incident were taken into custody by the police. Assailant had a terrorism record with the outlawed group in both Iraq and Syria, incursing into the Turkish town of Cizre from area controlled by YPG in Syria during the recent Cizre clashes, reports highlighted. He was caught in Aksaray Province, on his way to a PKK camp in Syria, with another two of the co-conspirators one day after the attack.Officials and experts highlighted that there were 2 schools close to the vicinity of the attack and in case the attack was conducted 10–20 minutes later, when the daily school endtime arrives, there would be a disaster resulting in many school children, going out from their schools to homes or schoolbuses, losing their lives cause of the terrorist attack.

Martyr Mustafa Special Sports Complex (Turkish: Şehit Mustafa Özel Spor Kompleksi) is an indoor multi-purpose sport venue that is located in the Yenibosna, Bahçelievler, Istanbul, Turkey. The hall, with a capacity for 2,100 spectators, was built in 2015.

Bahçelievler Stadium (Turkish: Bahçelievler Stadyumu) is a stadium in the Yenibosna district of Bahçelievler, Istanbul, Turkey. It is the home stadium of Yenibosna Spor Kulübü and İstanbulspor A.Ş. The stadium's only stand (the north stand) is a covered all-seater which holds a total capacity of 4,100 people.

DTM—İstanbul Fuar Merkezi is a station on the M1 line of the Istanbul Metro in Bakırköy, Istanbul. The station consists of an elevated island platform servicing two tracks within the Istanbul World Trade Center (Turkish: Dünya Ticaret Merkezi, DTM). DTM—İstanbul Fuar Merkezi station was opened on 20 December 2002 as part of the westward extension of the M1 to Atatürk Airport.

Istanbul Fair Center Yeşilköy (Turkish: İstanbul Fuar Merkezi Yeşilköy), also known as Istanbul Expo Center, is a fairground close to the Istanbul Atatürk Airport at Yeşilköy neighborhood of Bakırköy district in Istanbul, Turkey. It is owned by World Trade Center Istanbul, which is part of the global network of World Centers Association with over 300 licenses in about 100 countries.The fairground covers an area of 249,000 m2 (2,680,000 sq ft) in total consisting of eleven halls with a leasable area of 98,000 m2 (1,050,000 sq ft). Eight of the halls are operated by CNR Expo while the remaining three halls are run by WTC Istanbul. Around 100 national and international trade fairs are hosted by the fair center each year.The fair center has a television channel IFM TV as an online service, which broadcasts the events during the exhibitions. Neighboring facilities are WTC Istanbul Business Towers, WOW Hotels and WOW Convention Center.The fairground is served by the Istanbul Metro line M1A at the station DTM—İstanbul Fuar Merkezi.

Yenibosna is a borough within the district of Bahçelievler in west Istanbul, Turkey. The borough is in the west of Bahçelievler, bordering with the neighbor district Küçükçekmece. The original settlement was initially named Saraybosna, the Turkish language name for the city Sarajevo, which had previously been under Turkish rule during the Ottoman Empire period. Saraybosna remained a small settlement despite being a short distance from Istanbul, the capital of Ottoman Empire, and the earliest population record was 350. The founding of Republic of Turkey saw rapid development of the area, which was absorbed into Istanbul and the current name of Yenibosna was adopted. The remains of the old settlement can be seen in the courtyard behind Yenibosna Primary School.

Bahçelievler (meaning "houses with gardens" in Turkish) is a large middle class residential suburb of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European side of the city. It is accessible from the D.100 that runs from the Istanbul airport to the Asian side of the city, covers 5% of Istanbul's land area and is home to over 570,000 people. Bahçelievler is the northern neighbour of Bakırköy, with a similar area.

The Sinan Erdem Dome (Turkish: Sinan Erdem Spor Salonu), formerly known as the Ataköy Dome, is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in Ataköy, Bakırköy, Istanbul on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. It has a seating capacity of 22,500 for concerts. For the sport of basketball, it has a seating capacity of 16,000, and for the sport of tennis, it has a seating capacity of 16,457 people, making it Turkey's largest multi-purpose indoor venue, and the third largest in Europe (although it is not the third largest in Europe in capacity for basketball use). The arena is named after Sinan Erdem (1927–2003), who was the President of the Turkish Olympic Committee, from 1989, until his death in 2003.
