Parkland County is a municipal district in central Alberta, Canada. Located west of Edmonton in Census Division No. 11, its municipal office, Parkland County Centre, is located 0.25 km (0.16 mi) north of the Town of Stony Plain on Highway 779.

Stony Plain is known for its many painted murals representing various periods, events and people throughout the town's history. The town was originally known as Dog Rump Creek.

Memorial Composite High School is located in Stony Plain, Alberta and is part of the Parkland School Division (Parkland School District no. 70). Serving grades 10-12, the student body consists of approximately 1300 students. Of that, approximately 100 are enrolled in the school's Outreach program. There are 52 teachers with an additional 24 support staff currently employed.The School moved to the newly renovated (40+ million dollar renovation) former NAIT Westerra Campus in February 2010. This move was to address the concerns of safety with the original school built in 1949.

Stony Plain, originally named Stonyplain, was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1905 to 2019. The district returned a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta throughout its history, using the first past the post method of voting for most of its existence but single transferable vote from 1926 to 1957. The district was created in 1905 when Alberta became a province. The riding in its original boundaries stretched from the west Edmonton city limits to the British Columbia border, but over time it was significantly reduced in size. The riding was named Stonyplain from 1905 to 1909 before being changed to Stony Plain.

It is located on the west side of Range Road 274, 1.6 km (0.99 mi) south of Highway 628. It is adjacent to the Town of Stony Plain to the northwest and the designated place of Garden Grove Estates to the south.

Garden Grove Estates is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada within Parkland County that is recognized as a designated place by Statistics Canada. It is located on the east side of Range Road 275, 2.4 km (1.5 mi) south of Highway 628. It is adjacent to the designated places of Green Acre Estates to the north and Peterburn Estates to the northwest.

Westbrooke Crescents is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada within Parkland County that is recognized as a designated place by Statistics Canada. It is located on the east side of Range Road 280, 1.6 km (0.99 mi) north of Highway 16.

The Spruce Grove Grain Elevator Museum is a former Alberta Wheat Pool grain elevator that has been preserved as a working museum run by the volunteers of the Spruce Grove and District Agricultural Society. The elevator stands within the City of Spruce Grove, Alberta, next to the Canadian National Railway and is the last elevator remaining heading west on the Yellowhead Highway and along the CN.

Spruce Grove is a city that is 11 km (6.8 mi) west of Edmonton, Alberta, in Canada. The city is adjacent to the Town of Stony Plain and is surrounded by Parkland County. With a 2021 population of 37,645, Spruce Grove is the ninth-largest city in Alberta. The mayor of Spruce Grove is Jeff Acker. Spruce Grove is home to the Horizon Stage Performing Arts Centre, a local theatre, and the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre, a recreation facility shared with Stony Plain and Parkland County. Jennifer Heil, the freestyle skier who won the first gold medal for Canada in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, and a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics is from Spruce Grove, as is Carla MacLeod, a member of the 2010 Canada women's national ice hockey team, and Hockey Hall of Fame member and Stanley Cup-winning goalie Grant Fuhr.
