Lomonosovsky District (Russian: Ломоно́совский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the seventeen in Leningrad Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast and borders with Petrodvortsovy and Krasnoselsky Districts of the Federal city of Saint Petersburg in the east, Gatchinsky District in the southeast, Volosovsky District in the south, Kingiseppsky District in the southwest, and the city of oblast significance of Sosnovy Bor in the west. In the north, the district is bounded by the Gulf of Finland. The area of the district is 1,919 square kilometers (741 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Lomonosov (which is not a part of Leningrad Oblast and is located on the territory of the federal city of Saint Petersburg). Population: 70,245 (2010 Census); 65,297 (2002 Census); 66,104 (1989 Census).

Oranienbaum (Russian: Ораниенба́ум) is a Russian royal residence, located on the Gulf of Finland west of St. Petersburg. The Palace ensemble and the city centre are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Kronstadt (Russian: Кроншта́дт, romanized: Kronshtadt, IPA: [krɐnˈʂtat]) is a Russian port city in Kronshtadtsky District of the federal city of Saint Petersburg, located on Kotlin Island, 30 km (19 mi) west of Saint Petersburg, near the head of the Gulf of Finland. It is linked to the former Russian capital by a combination levee-causeway-seagate, the St Petersburg Dam, part of the city's flood defences, which also acts as road access to Kotlin island from the mainland. Founded in the early 18th century by Peter the Great, it became an important international centre of commerce whose trade role was later eclipsed by its strategic significance as the primary maritime defence outpost of the former Russian capital. The main base of the Russian Baltic Fleet was located in Kronstadt, guarding the approaches to Saint Petersburg. In March 1921, the island city was the site of the Kronstadt rebellion. The historic centre of the city and its fortifications are part of the World Heritage Site that is Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments. Kronstadt has been a place of pilgrimage for Orthodox Christians for many years due to the memory of Saint John of Kronstadt.

The attack on Kronstadt occurred on 8 July 1704 during the Great Northern War. After the construction of Kronslot on the newly captured island of Kotlin by Russia, a Swedish fleet of 1–2 ship(s) of the line, 5–8 frigates, 5 brigantines, several smaller ships, and 1,000 men sailed towards the island. The Swedes landed on the island, proceeding to defeat 500 Russian troops stationed in 2 redoubts and took their artillery. After an inconclusive shelling of the island, the Swedes withdrew.

On 26 October 1905, a mutiny erupted among soldiers and sailors stationed at the Kronstadt naval base, following the arrest of 50 soldiers who tried to present their demands to their regiment commander. The mutineers, who were poorly organised and lacked effective leadership, engaged in arson and looting. On 28 October, troops were brought in from St. Petersburg to suppress the mutiny, which resulted in the deaths of 16 sailors and one civilian.

St. Andrew's Cathedral was the main Russian Orthodox cathedral of Kronstadt. The church was built in 1805–1817 to Andreyan Zakharov's designs to replace a wooden church dating from 1718. It was dedicated to Andrew the Apostle, the patron saint of the Russian Navy. Zakharov's elegant design proved influential. It was replicated in Izhevsk (see Alexander Nevsky Cathedral) and in Yekaterinoslav (see Transfiguration Cathedral), among other cities of Imperial Russia. The Kronstadt Cathedral is highly important for Orthodox believers because Saint John of Kronstadt, one of the greatest saints of Russian Orthodox Church, was the local priest for 53 years.St. Andrew's Cathedral was demolished under the Soviet regime in 1932. Plans for its rebuilding have been announced.

Anchor Square (Russian: Якорная площадь) is the central square in the city of Kronstadt, outside Saint Peterburg.

The Naval cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt (Russian: Морской Никольский собор, Morskoj Nikol'skij sobor) is a Russian Orthodox cathedral built in 1903–1913 as the main church of the Russian Navy and dedicated to all fallen seamen. The cathedral was closed in 1929, was converted to a cinema, a House of Officers (1939) and a museum of the Navy (1980). The Russian Orthodox Church reinstalled the cross on the main dome in 2002 and (for the first time since 1929) served the Divine Liturgy in the cathedral in 2005. In 2013, the Patriarch of Russia, with Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev and his spouse attending, conducted the ceremony of grand reconsecration in the now fully restored cathedral.

Bronka is a modern port terminal in the Great Port of Saint Petersburg. It is located in the municipal town of Lomonosov on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland. It began operations in December 2015. Today, the Bronka port is the only deep-water terminal in the Great Port of St. Petersburg, capable of accommodating vessels up to 347 meters in length, a beam of 50 and a draft of up to 13 meters.
